Tom Jones vows to carry on singing in honour of late wife

Sir Tom Jones says he will sing through his heartbreak following the death of his wife.

Melinda Woodward passed away in Los Angeles in April after a short battle with cancer.

The pair had been married since 1957, with Jones only 17 at the time.

Speaking to BBC Radio 2, Jones said his late partner would have wanted him to carry on singing.

He said: "It’s been a tough few months, losing Linda. She had emphysema, and we thought that’s all it was.

"But it turned out to be worse than that in the end.

"I’m feeling pretty good now. I’m back in it and getting back in form. Singing is what I do. I’m a singer and I love to sing.

"I have to be strong. I was wondering if I could use that love as a strength, and it was. [She] wanted me to go on and keep singing, she said not to stop."
