Tulisa Contostavlos has spoken about the possibility of Cheryl Cole returning to the judging panel of The X Factor, and insists that if she were to she would understand the star reclaiming her old job.

However, Tulisa pointed out that if Cheryl were to come back, it wouldn’t necessarily mean that it would be her given the boot.

In an interview with Newsbeat, she said: “You don’t know who could be going either, it could be any of us if she was to come back. At the end of the day it’s her role, it was her job for years and she should come first when it comes to that role.

“Until I’ve been working on it for an period of time, and  I have a right to say ‘well hang on, this is my job’, but she’d had that job for years. I totally get that there were decisions to be made and that she had to figure out what she wanted to do. Obviously it was nerve-wracking, but I understood it.”

She said Simon Cowell had no pointers to share with her.

“Usually he’s got to say ‘you should do this more, you should try this or change this’, but apparently he had no notes for me. No notes from Simon! Love it!”
