Tulisa "blamed herself" for Ella exit

X Factor judge and mentor Tulisa blamed herself for the shock exit of fan favourite Ella Henderson.

The N-Dubz star was left devastated on Sunday night when her last remaining act departed the competition after finding herself in the bottom two alongside James Arthur.

After the decision turned to 'Deadlock' Henderson's time on the show was up after receiving the least number of public votes.

Henderson and Arthur were tipped to be finalists in the hit TV talent show - and the talented singer says Tulisa blamed herself for the shock outcome.

She told The Mirror: “She was just absolutely gutted for me and I think she felt like she was to blame. She said we should have reminded people more of how important it is to vote and how you can’t assume you’re going to make your way to the final.

Henderson continued: “I was telling her, ‘Please don’t feel that way at all. You’ve done absolutely everything you could and stuck by me from day one’. She’s not just helped me build as a performer but as a person, she’s really driven me and brought a confidence out that I never used to have.

Henderson says Tulisa was a great mentor and an encouraging person to have on her side.

Ella added: “I think I was her last remaining girl and she threw everything she had into me. When they lose their final act it’s not a nice feeling for them. It wouldn’t be nice for any of the judges. She did everything she could, I think she felt bad on my behalf. She didn’t want me to think I’d done anything wrong.

"I definitely have got a close friendship there for life.”
