Usher to curate Macy's annual 4th of July fireworks event

R&B sensation Usher has been named this year's creative director of Macy's annual fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day in America.

2013 brings Macy's 37th annual event to the USA and it will take place in New York City, and the department store's official Twitter page shared the news via an exciting update this afternoon (May 9):

"From the music to the skies @Usher will lend his artistry & vision to our 37th Annual 4th of July #MacysFireworks!"

The 'DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love' superstar will be given complete creative control in order to come up with everything from the concept to the accompanying music and overall design of the spectacular, which is set to be broadcast live on NBC from 9pm ET on Thursday, July 4.

Usher, meanwhile, is busy working as a coach on vocal talent show 'The Voice' and recently told his Twitter followers that his team have been enjoying the process: "#TeamUsher had an incredible night...all votes in....Thank you for all your support and votes."
