Jack White admits the White Stripes were a massive challenge

Jack White has admitted that the White Stripes were the "most challenging thing" that has ever happened to him.

White formed the band with only himself and drummer Meg White, and he told the Associated Press that he reckons their simplicity was a big challenge.

He feels that because of their stripped back nature, it was even harder to win over audiences. He said:

"The truth is, it's the most challenging thing that ever happened to me. There was no bigger challenge than that - to try to win people over with just two people. It will be hard for me to ever think of something to challenge myself as much as that because of its simplicity."

Jack White meanwhile has gone solo since the break up of the White Stripes in 2011, with his debut release 'Blunderbuss' topping charts across the world.
