ROMES ANNOUNCE DRAKE ‘ONE DANCE’ COVER

Highly acclaimed Toronto quartet ROMES have revealed a dark, bassy cover of Drake’s ‘One Dance’.

The song premiered with Exclaim who said, “The cover showcases the group’s unique and wide-ranging set of musical influences, taking elements from indie rock, electro-pop and R&B, and adding a bit of each into the new rendition.”

ROMES' rework of the No.1 smash hit from their fellow native of Canada’s premier city, takes the song into new, rumbling, tropical-tinged trap-inspired territories.

On ‘One Dance’, ROMES frontman Jacob Alexander explains, “Being a Toronto-based band, we’ve always had a soft spot for Drake, so we wanted to create a version of ‘One Dance’ that stayed true to our sound… We flipped the dancehall original on its head; slowing it down and adding some grimey synths to the mix.”

‘One Dance’ is the first teaser of new music from ROMES following the release of their highly celebrated breakthrough debut EP Believe, which saw the band championed by tastemakers including Q, The Guardian and Noisey amongst a wealth of further praise.

ROMES have firmly laid their mark as one of the most impressive and exciting new bands today, picking up a fervent fanbase – including the likes of Hozier and Lights – with their irresistibly unique sound.

“The Canadian four-piece resemble a modern Duran Duran, combining exuberant, funked-up pop with traces of darker, more risqué rock… ROMES sound giddy with possibility”

 The Guardian

"an indie-pop anthem replete with layers of unexpected percussion and rippling synths. Meanwhile singer Jacob delivers a topline melody that's lithe and catchy as hell."
