Kyrie London's Rooftop's Hit's VEVO Top Video Chart @ #3 Today May 4th 2013

Kyrie London Rooftop Video Hit #3 VEVO Today 4th May 2013

http://www.vevo.com/videos/topvideos#genre=pop&order=mostviewedtoday

It's the digital age upon us and collaborations are faster becoming the highway to success. With album sales down and physical sales almost obsolete, the hottest topics are at the moment all edited down to 3 minutes for which it seems to be the single sale of the century. 40% growth in single sales from last year, and almost back to the glory days of the huge sales of the 90s, but delivered courtesy of megabytes. VEVO & Youtube's jumping on board, and Billboard together with Soundscan are reporting more single sales than we have time to listen to. They're even now counting youtube views as part of the algorithm that measures chart success. Newcomer Kyrie London is at the beginning of a digital era. Her debut single "Rooftops" is due for release June 2nd, and surprisingly features UK Garage Innovator and Daft Punk Collaborator Todd Edwards. Edwards is currently celebrating the success of the first single off Daft Punk's Random Access Memories, entitled "Get Lucky" featuring the rhythmic styling of Chic founder Nile Rodgers and Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes.

The first cut from the album sounds like it just came out of Studio 54. Could this be the reincarnation of disco? Surprisingly soul has never left us in the words of Pharrell but just got lost along the way. The single debuted at #1 in 10 countries on itunes. Kyrie London is also hoping over the next couple weeks that she too will get lucky!

Kyrie's debut single "Rooftops" was remixed by Todd the God Edwards who put his unique spin on the record and also appeared alongside screen actor Robbie Gee for this 5 and a half minute short cinematic video, directed by Phil Hawkins. You can see the two walking down side by side with Kyrie as her enforcers. The two then proceed to part the crowd and bring her to the footsteps of a large fighting arena. Robbie Gee, movie star and well-loved UK TV actor has certainly not lost his charm. With his soft spoken voice and gangster-like appearance, he oozes substance and delivers the impacting lines, "This is your break. This is your time," like only Robbie Gee could. Compelling? Yes. Out of the ordinary? Definitely. But somehow it manages to keep you there like mother's sticky treacle pudding. I also found myself feeling quite nostalgic on the journey through this classic 80s feel good movie approach. "It's going down" in the gritty urban setting which suddenly springs to life like an episode of Fame or like one of my all-time favorites Flash Dance. Fame Costs, and here's where you start paying in sweat. Very reminiscent of Eminem's 8 Mile. While Sancola Music anticipates the forthcoming album release of their first US artist, Kyrie's melodies are certainly at the forefront, interwoven into a tapestry of electronic sounds and thudding kick drums, but somehow maintaining a human connection. Definitely a breath of fresh air in the right direction, due west if I'm correct in thinking, according to the robots.

John Cooper Clarke And I Am Kloot For Sunday Night Live In London

Punk poet John Cooper Clarke will tread the boards at London’s Palladium for his biggest show to date in the capital next year. ‘Sunday Night Live with John Cooper Clarke’ will see the figurehead of ‘punk poetry’ bring his insatiable wit to London’s legendary theatre, with guest performers joining him for this very special one-night stand on Sunday 9th June 2013.

A great contributor to popular culture, Clarke’s influence has been cited by many of the great lyricists, including Alex Turner and Plan B, with the latter inviting John personally to appear in his directorial film debut, ‘Ill Manors’. His biting, satirical and political verse delivered with punch resonated with the punk movement. The 1970s and early 80s saw him share stages with groundbreaking bands of the time including Sex Pistols, The Clash, Buzzcocks, The Fall and Elvis Costello, whilst Joy Division opened for Clarke on numerous occasions. A major record deal ensued in 1978 as well as releasing an extensive collection of his poetry and words, ‘Ten Years In An Open Necked Shirt’, which became one of the bestselling poetry books of the 1980s and has recently been reprinted due to its popularity.

The revival of the punk ethos in more recent years has seen a whole new generation of fans drawn to his work. This year during the BBC’s Punk Britannia season, John was called upon for on-air duties at 6 Music and BBC4 screened the documentary ‘Evidently … John Cooper Clarke’ as part of the proceedings.

Bill Bailey put it best when he said; “You’ve either never heard of him or you love him”, but guaranteed any newcomers to his live shows will be hanging off every one of his ferociously funny words and will be a Cooper Clarke convert after spending any amount of time in his company.

The Nyco Project to Release Innovative EP as Audiovisual App

Through support from the Arts Council England, London band The Nyco Project are set to unveil their pioneering new EP The New Machine in the form of an interactive audiovisual app.

A venture spanning two years, the band’s concept is at long last coming to fruition. Self-managed and self-produced, their love of playing live led The Nyco Project into creating a method of recording and performing, which they labelled ‘musicjelly’. Through the principle that ‘everything you hear you see’, the band developed a ground-breaking new way for bands to showcase their music. Capturing all live recordings on film, The Nyco Project’s debut three-track EP reflects this principle and has been developed into a musical app which the user can interact with. As well as having the ability to solo and mute individual parts, users can see the band playing their instruments and discover information about the recordings. Aiming to bring back tangible music releases, The New Machine is much more than the average mp3 download.

Supported using public funding by the National Lottery, through the Arts Council England, the band have received huge praise from the organisation. Relationship Manager, Rachel Nelken stated; ‘not only were we taken by The Nyco Project’s music, but the inventive multi-media presentation was really interesting. The app is a great new way for bands to take a coherent approach to the presentation of their whole product, visually and aurally. Nyco’s musicjelly concept is also a good platform for bands to showcase their material. It gives users a great insight into both the recording process and the make-up of a live band, as well as giving them the power to become instant composers – this opportunity for immediate engagement has the potential to reach wide audiences’.

Opening the EP with ‘Fade Away’ the band’s lo-fi, psychedelic sound is immediately apparent. The intertwining distorted guitars and vocals recall artists such as The Velvet Underground, Jack White and early Yeah YeahYeahs. Moving into ‘You’re So Weak’ the band takes on an alt-country sound evoked by the brushed percussion, tremolo guitar and sultry vocals. Maintaining their psychedelic indie sound this is a track even T-Bone Burnett would be proud of. Closing the EP is title track ‘The New Machine’, a song about forgetting the real world as we get sucked into cyberspace. Featuring a catchy vocal melody, the track moves from up-tempo full band sections to a beautiful acoustic part highlighting their range of talents.

The New Machine app is scheduled for release on June 24th. The Nyco Project will be bringing their work to the world over the next few weeks and months, with live performances and in various groundbreaking formats.

It has a more melodic sound than Triggerfinger’s previous singles but still oozes the band’s signature rock ‘n’ roll attitude. This single, an acoustic cover of Likke Li’s international hit, was first recorded in a radio session. Within hours it caused a media hype, getting a massive reaction across Europe and boosting Triggerfinger’s international profile. It stayed at number one for 9 weeks in Belgium and 13 weeks in Holland, as well as reaching number one in Austria and Poland, top 10 in Germany and top 20 in Switzerland.

Triggerfinger brought their fiery rock to the UK earlier in the year. They had three live dates in March and their latest album ‘All This Dancin’ Around’ was released in April. The album, recorded at the famous SoundCity studio in Los Angeles, has a distinctive and original sound, mixing garage and heavy rock with blues as well as astounding hooks and power riffs which truly capture the riveting power of their live performances. Triggerfinger’s strong bass lines and hard driving drums mix grandiose rock with Ruben Block’s smooth vocals adding moments of brooding introspection.

UK Charts Prepare to #FeelTheLove with Cahill ft Kimberley Locke

Cahill are back with their new single, ‘Feel The Love’ and prove once again that when it comes to anthemic, floor-filling house music, no one does it better! The Liverpool-based trio underline their status as one of the UK’s hottest production outfits as they team up with American Idol star, Kimberley Locke, on vocals, to deliver an uplifting, euphoric track destined to become a summer anthem. Due for release on 16th June on 3 Beat Records, ‘Feel The Love’ brings a simple, positive message, on top of a tune so catchy you’ll be humming it in your sleep!

Cahill are Anton Powers, Tim Condran and Scott Rosser. They crashed into the UK charts in 2007 with their first single, ‘Trippin’ On You’, a vocal house classic, playlisted on Radio 1, Galaxy, Kiss FM and more, going on to be played over 30,000 times on UK radio! The trio continued to hone their skills, delivering huge dancefloor smashes, alongside remixes that read like a who’s who of popular music, including; Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Nicole Scherzinger, Taylor Swift, Emeli Sande, Professor Green, Miley Cyrus, Robbie Williams, Mariah Carey, Paloma Faith the list goes on...

Kimberley Locke was a competitor on the 3rd series of American Idol, gaining huge exposure as she battled her way to third place. Since then she has forged a successful career in music and television in the US. A chance encounter lead to the opportunity to work with Cahill, and Kimberley’s stunning vocal abilities merged seamlessly with Cahill’s studios skills and dancefloor instincts to create something very special. When these artists got together the message was obvious....#FeelTheLove!

‘Feel The Love’ is already enjoying heavy Radio 1 support from the likes of Greg James and Danny Howard, as well as Capital, KISS FM and many more. The track itself kicks off with the euphoric vocal refrain, ‘Feel The Love’, giving an immediate feel-good injection. From then on the quality Cahill production keeps on building the positive dancefloor vibes, with a warm, funked up bassline, pumping beats and uplifting strings; the perfect backdrop for Kimberley’s soaring vocals. Summer has most definitely landed!

The video for ‘Feel The Love’ is the ideal accompaniment to the song; a feel-good video that leaves a smile on your face every time you watch it. It begins with Anton from Cahill writing a message on a post-it note which he leaves crumpled on the floor of a tube train in London. A guy picks it up, reads it and then catches the eye of a beautiful girl. From there, they fall in love and spread the message to Feel The Love across London....

With Cahill’s dance music background, it’s no wonder that, ‘Feel The Love’, comes with a remix package so big you could hold a festival in its back garden! Alongside Cahill’s own Club Mix, Grum steps up to deliver a cool mix full of early 90’s style pianos and drum loops – destined to be big. Anton Powers teams up with E-Squire for another big room house version, while rising star TS7 shows why he’s being talked about with a quality UK garage mix. Benjamin Leung & Fiasko drop an electro house mix with anthemic chorus and driving bassline, while next up, Toy Armada and DJ Grind add trance-tinged synths to their uplifting mix. Hi Def drops a tougher electro mix, and just when you think you couldn’t dance any more, Tommy MC kicks in with a pumping piano house mix that will drag you back to the dancefloor once again!

As the sun starts to shine, the message from Cahill and Kimberley Locke is loud and clear. #FeelTheLove

Studio Wizard MinusBlue Releases Second Studio Album “Living Life In Phases”

Living Life In Phases is the brilliant new album from Sheffield native Leigh Devlin under the alias MinusBlue, released via Seamless Recordings on 16th May.

Having engineered on Dizzee Rascal’s Mercury Prize winning album, Boy In Da Corner, remixed for Reverend And The Makers, and signed over 100 records to down-tempo compilations, Leigh Devlin’s career goes back some years. Living Life In Phases is an electronic album exuding a colourful mix of influences and a wealth of experience from a 30 year musical history.

As co-founder of the legendary Kenwood Studios in Sheffield where the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Fila Brazilia and Groove Armada all recorded, Leigh Devlin is a master engineer at the sound desk. His technical wizardry saw him run Sheffield practice studio Bok Studios where the likes of Roots Manuva and Phil Oakley (Human League) were regulars, to tutoring at the Sheffield College of Music alongside fellow heavyweights, Simon Stafford and Sarah Jay, who’ve worked with Joe Strummer and Massive Attack respectively.

It’s this musical background that inspired Living Life In Phases, the second studio album from MinusBlue and the result of a three year hiatus travelling Europe. In comparison to its 2009 self-titled predecessor, Life In Stages drifts from MinusBlue’s previous chilled out sounds into a stripped back affair of lush eighties and nineties influenced sounds with simple drums and synths and airy production.

Leigh said, “I wanted to move away from being tarred with the 'chillout' brush. I wanted to make a poppy/Balearic/electronic sound that was a bit of a look back through my musical background. That's why there is an 80s and 90s feel to some of the tracks. I had got to the point with the previous album, and working on other peoples music down the years, that I needed a break from writing and producing, hence the trip around Europe. I also needed something to write about, and life kind of gives you that, if you let it. I had plenty to write about by the time I started again. That's why the album is called Living Life In Phases”.

The first single to be released from the album, Don’t Give Love Away, was an international hit, played on rotation on the likes of Kiss FM Australia, Billboard USA and multiple stations across Europe.

Living Life In Phases was built from the ground up to be a live project and, along with the band’s talented singer songwriters, will be toured later this year in the UK and Ibiza.

Vocalists on the album include Justin Lewis who, with his critically acclaimed Justin Lewis Orchestra, performed at Glastonbury and signed to Beastie Boys label, Grand Royale; plus Grammy Award winning guest vocalist Keithen Carter who’s written with everyone from Chaka Khan to Philip Bailey (Earth Wind & Fire).

Fans of the Human League, Joy Division, Warp Records and Orbital are bound to enjoy this album. It’s a rich tapestry of musical influences and a rare opportunity to hear an LP reflecting so many years of experience. Leigh Devlin’s ongoing love for music shines throughout.

Venus In Motion returns with first album in six years

Venus In Motion is the alter ego of Angel Johnson, one of the pioneering women in electronic music. As one of the first and only female DJs on the circuit at the start of the 90’s, she was a regular at infamous house haunts such as Venus Nottingham, The Haçienda and Ministry of Sound. As songwriter/producer, Venus In Motion, Angel returns with the superbly, self-produced album number two, Somebody’s Heaven, featuring a collection of down-tempo, vocal driven, summer grooves, fit for the discerning listener’s blissed out moments.

Angel Johnson’s metamorphosis into Venus In Motion was a long one. As house music grew to be a cultural reference point in the 90’s, she blazed a trail for women in the male-dominated world of club DJs. She had to work harder, mix better and generally take the roof off, to gain equal opportunities. However this determination and work ethic served her well and by the early 90’s she was an in demand, internationally recognised DJ.

Although a producer of many dance floor hits in 1994 on Hi Life Records as Angelheart producing with Dean Marriot (D’Ramirez), Angel has always written mellower songs. Since childhood she was intrigued by the emotive power and melody of music, citing early musical influences including Kate Bush, Cat Stevens and Gladys Knight.

In the early 90s when the genre ‘chill out’ was born, bands of the decade like Massive Attack and Nightmares On Wax further inspired Angel to record the songs that had gathered in her head. By 2005 she had invested in her own studio and had written and produced her first album as Venus In Motion, Walking In Limbo. After relocating to Barcelona, the album was snapped up by Spain’s leading electronic music imprint Blanco Y Negro Records and Venus In Motion began to appear in down-tempo playlists everywhere.

Somebody's Heaven sharpens the Venus In Motion sound, mixing organic with electronic, weaving melody and melancholy in every tale told. Like many of today’s successful female writers, lyrically, this album speaks from the heart about the personal turmoil of suffocating relationships (Let Me Breathe) and personal change (On The Down), to wavering friendships using tongue-in-cheek metaphors (Friends) and coming across the deluded know-it-all types (Wonderful).

The album features a stunning array of guest talent. Angel comments, “Although Venus In Motion is a solo project, like many writers/producers in the genre I use different singers and musicians to bring my work to life. I don’t have the restrictions of a traditional band and can change the formula at any time.”

Guest vocalists include the award winning filmmaker Cherry Mars and rising talent Jack Kenworthy; guest musicians such as Crazy P drummer Matt Klose, and Nottingham super-producer and writer, Chris Bucknall.

The album also features the pre-released up-tempo single, Crazy People, which thanks to the heavy weaponry of Max Sedgley (Sunday Best Recordings) on remix duties, earned itself a spot in the DMC Buzz Charts and on the airwaves and in DJ sets across the world.

Angel said: “I never really know how to categorize my music - although it resides under the chill out umbrella I don't really see it as chill out. I think of it more as pop which has been influenced by cooler genres like soul, jazz, folk and dub. My style of writing isn't very cryptic, my lyrics normally tell an obvious tale - a story with a beginning a middle, and an end.”

Available as a digital download with bonus tracks and video from iTunes, Somebody’s Heaven is a long player that will no doubt find its way onto the playlists of Ibiza’s beach bars and relaxed sun terraces; a perfect summer soundtrack.

Schemata Theory: Explosive UK metal newcomers ready debut album release

"A beautiful blend of progressive textures and soaring vocal arrangements.'"– TheNewReview

"Purely sensational music and experimentation." - Throwing Shapes Media & Reviews

“Dry Lung Rhetoric is a calling card from a band destined for great things, combining melody, aggression, attitude and ambition to an exhilarating effect.” – OneMetal.com

Bursting onto the UK metal/prog-metal scene all guns blazing, energetic new Reading-based six-piece Schemata Theory prepare to unleash their explosive debut album ‘Dry Lung Rhetoric’ on June 3.

The album, which was recorded at the renowned Stakeout Studios and produced by Jason Wilcock (Fightstar, We Are The Ocean, The Ghost of A Thousand), features 11 tracks and includes a guest appearance from Mutiny Within’s Chris Clancy on concluding final track, ‘The Final Breath’.

Combining many aspects of the metal genre, Dry Lung Rhetoric fuses classic thrash riffing, progressive technical instrumental passages, melodic hooks and soaring choruses, creating a set of songs that are accessible, original and thought provoking.

From the groove-metal orientated ‘Perish or Prevail’ to the piano driven ballad ‘Your Belief’, through to the more commercially melodic ‘Drones’ and catchy lead single ‘A Complex Slate’, the album is an experimental mix of eclectic metal infusions with the influence of bands such as Dream Theater and Metallica being prominent in the complex song structures, technical riffs and prominent guitar solos.

The message behind the album is an interesting one. “The album’s themes communicate acknowledgement of a sleeping world needing to wake up,” explains psychology graduate and vocalist Myles Dyer. “With so much evidently in crisis on this planet, the question that must be asked is ‘How much longer can we go on turning a blind eye?’”

The band has released an impressive and eye-catching video for lead single ‘A Complex Slate’, which has already gained in excess of 45,000 views.
