Labrinth: 'No.1 was nice but I don't make music for commercial success'

Producer and singer-songwriter Labrinth has admitted that achieving his first No.1 single as a solo artist was a fantastic milestone, but chart positions don't mean that much to him.

The star went straight to the top of the UK Top 40 recently with his new song 'Beneath Your Beautiful', which is the last single to be taken from his debut album 'Electronic Earth', and he told Digital Spy that it's important not to get wrapped up in chart success because it's not what music is about:

"I don't really make music for chart positions. It's good that we could have one, but I think if we all get caught up in that we start making music for number ones, instead of actually making music."

"Usually when you're on your last single and you've gone to the end of your album, it's the first singles that explode. So to achieve a number one on the last single was quite sick."
