Zooey Deschanel praises "wonderful" and "talented" Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift's 'New Girl' cameo aired in the USA last night and the show's lead actress Zooey Deschanel revealed that it was a pleasure to work alongside the hitmaker for the season finale.

During an appearance on U.S. chat show 'Katie', Deschanel explained that it was fantastic to have Swift on the set and she was impressed by how professional, talented and "funny" the young singer was:

"I love her! She's so sweet, and really tall! She's surprisingly tall. I kept being like, 'Somebody bring me a pair of heels!' [because] I just looked like a shrimp! She is awesome and so funny. She's a wonderful person and so talented."

Before last night's broadcast (May 14), the 'I Knew You Were Trouble' beauty tweeted to tell her fans the episode she features in was about to be shown: "About to watch the New Girl season finale and I totally would be even if I wasn't in this episode. @NewGirlonFOX."

Earlier this month, Jake Johnson (who plays Nick Miller on the show) also praised Swift's acting ability and said: "She came in and is really nice. It's not an easy scene. There were probably 70 extras there, though I'm sure she performs to... much bigger (crowds) than that on a regular basis. She had, like, a little monologue and delivered it perfectly. (The producer) gave her alternative jokes and lines, she delivered them all perfectly. It was frustrating!"

Miley Cyrus has opened up on the level of abuse she receives from fans of other singers.

Online hate isn't anything new, but the 'Party in the USA' star took to Twitter last night (May 12) after it got too much.

The singer admitted that she often receives death threats on Twitter from fans of Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift - even though she is friends with them in real life. Cyrus said:

"Everyday someone with a Swift or Gomez in there name wishes terrible things upon me (death is popular) Please Smilers don't ever think somehow you are supporting me by being hateful towards other artist. My fans make me proud by supporting my music & everything I do."

She continued: "I'm sure these haters would make their idols much happier tweeting bout their music rather than wishing death upon their peers like psychos. We are all friends. Why can't you all be?"

Responding to a tweet that suggested Cyrus was "hating" on Swift and Gomez, the singer replied: "I said nothing about either of them...I said some fans are acting like psychos. Example A."

'Welcome To Miami' hitmaker Will Smith has revealed that he was initially offered a role in Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained', but turned it down because it wasn't the right fit.

Smith explained to Entertainment Weekly that he was lined up to play the slave, named Django, but decided not to accept because he wanted to play a leading character:

"Django wasn't the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead. The other character was the lead!... I was like, 'No, Quentin, please, I need to kill the bad guy!'"

Jamie Foxx ended up portraying Django and starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz.

The motion picture went on to win a series of awards, including Golden Globes, a BAFTA and an Oscar, and Smith added that he didn't regret turning it down despite the success it found: "I thought (the movie) was brilliant. Just not for me."

HBO on getting Beyoncé documentary: 'It doesn't really fit with our channel'

This weekend (February 16) will see the premiere of Beyoncé's long-awaited documentary on HBO, but the channel's President of Programming has admitted it almost didn't make the cut because it stood out from the shows they usually put out.

Michael Lombardo told the Daily News that the documentary, entitled 'Life Is But A Dream', doesn't really fit well with the channel in terms of what it usually broadcasts but they decided to make an exception as it was "undeniably moving and honest":

“I have no clue why this works. If someone said to me, 'Why is this on HBO?' I can't say why, this isn't a tradition documentary and this isn't a traditional music special because there's something undeniably moving and honest about it.”

“I knew who Beyonce was, but I wasn't really a fan. If you had asked me to name more than one of her songs at that point I couldn't.”

He added that it was especially inspiring to see a megastar lay herself out so openly and reveal the "sweaty" and hardworking side of fame: "This felt so fresh and honest to me. She's constantly walking this line between public performer and private person, and wrestling with how, in this massive spotlight, she can hold onto the part of yourself that makes it real."

“It's such an honest struggle and such an honest conversation. I was also dazzled by how hard she works, the unbelievable, unsexy, hard, sweaty work that goes into mounting a show – any show she does. You just have to take your hat off to her.”

Hollywood actor and music star Justin Timberlake has opened up about combining his two career paths to create his brand new forthcoming album.

He recently made a comeback with the single 'Suit & Tie' and is due to release a new record, entitled 'The 20/20 Experience', and told two GRAMMYs Camp reporters that he took elements from both music and acting to shape his new material:

"it's made me take a slightly different approach to storytelling in some of my songs. I'm gonna put a lot of music out over the course of the year and some songs have become really concept-driven; some songs have become a simple idea that turns into something big."

He continued: "Now I can really paint a picture for people 'cause being involved in the film process, you get to see the writing change, you get to see the direction change, you get to see all those things change. But you get to see those things change and you go, "You can really do this with music, too." You can play a character but you can also write the world that you want your character to live in and then what does that world sound like?"

Tulisa to focus on acting instead of music

Tulisa has revealed that she plans to pursue acting more intently now that she has released her solo album.

The singer unveiled debut record 'The Female Boss' late last year, but it only managed to chart at No.35 in the UK.

Speaking to the Metro, the X Factor UK judge - who has featured in films such as Demons Never Die - revealed that she wants to focus herself on acting this coming year instead of music. The singer said:

"I've kinda been doing acting for a while but never found the time. Now the album is out and done, I can find the time. I love acting as much as music so I would want to go to the top as much as I would in music. The X Factor is the only TV I would really do but I am getting back into my acting career this year. There's a couple of films in the pipeline."

Speaking about the last year and releasing her solo album, Tulisa added: "It was pretty much a crazy year and everything felt like it was crammed in from recording the album to X Factor, everything was just insane. Feels good to be out the way. I'm looking forward to starting a new chapter."
