Renowned folk musician Steve Bonham starts his Get Your Boots On Tour - May 25th 2013

Following the well-received launch of Steve Bonham’s single Steady at Bellingham’s Mini BAA festival, renowned folk singer Steve is getting his boots on ready for a musical odyssey along Hadrian’s Wall. Steve’s unique take on the tradition of travelling musicians will see him walk from gig to gig along the 85 miles of the spectacular Hadrian’s Wall Path.

The tour kicks off at Ireby Music Festival on Saturday 25th May followed by the first leg of the walk from Cumbria arriving at Heddon on the Wall, Northumberland on June 1st. Steve will then take the tour to Derby and Southwell Folk Festival before returning north for a grand finale at the Folkalpoint festival at The Sage Gateshead on November 30th 2013.

The tour has been inspired by Steve’s long term musical buddy Tim, who developed the neurological condition ataxia which curtailed his ability to perform. Steve wrote and recorded the song Steady, which features Stephen Doherty’s hauntingly beautiful whistle-playing, to raise awareness of ataxia and to support the charity Ataxia UK’s 2020 campaign to find a cure.

Ataxia is a progressive neurological disorder for which there is no cure. It affects motor co-ordination, walking, vision and speech. There are 10,000 adults with the condition in the UK and it can affect any age group including children. Ataxia UK supports people affected by the condition as well as funding vital research into finding a cure. www.ataxia.org.uk/

Steve Bonham says “I want to do something about this ataxia thing and I want to make more people aware of it - so people don’t think those affected are drunk or stupid. I want people to see beyond the stumble and the uncertainty to the still strong person within. And I want to raise some dosh so that good research by clever people can go on.”

Steve will be show casing Steady along with songs from his 2012 critically acclaimed album ‘The Moon’s High Tide’ and some new pieces. He will be joined by the “Bishop” (keyboards, tuba and percussion) and special guests to create some exhilarating performances of contemporary folk music. Steve is a folk veteran and has collaborated with folk royalty such as ex-Saw Doctor Pearce Doherty, Jimmy Higgins (Irish band Altan) and Fairport Convention’s legendary Dave Pegg.

Steady is now available for free download with donations to Ataxia UK. http://www.stevebonham.net/steady or to view http://youtu.be/eHg-x4ubk3g

Justin Timberlake on film career: 'I choose projects depending on how much they inspire me'

'Mirrors' hitmaker Justin Timberlake has revealed that after working as an actor for a number of years now, he has learned how to pick a great film project from a selection of offers.

Speaking to The Metro, the superstar explained that he chooses movies based on how inspired he is by the script and has become really good at finding the ones that stand out: "I feel pretty good about it. I just feel as though I try to make specific choices for the projects that are inspiring to me.

"If I can continue to do that, then I'll be gratified by whatever the outcome is. The more you get to work, the more you realise the journey and the process are the parts you remember forever."

"Sometimes movies are an experience you didn't expect they were going to be. I think you hope for the best and expect the worst, and if it ends up in the middle, you're fine."

“I want to engage people once again and make the rest of the world care as well. Basically the last couple years of my life were pure hell and I spent it (and my "success" period of GD) a slave to prescription drugs, only to go to rehab last October to get clean” Hardy explains

“Charlotte Froom and Tennesse Thomas from The Like will be helping me to reform GD for a select few shows to promote the record and say goodbye to the band properly so I can concentrate on my new project Annie Hardy and the Psychos as well as my pet project PnP who will also be finishing up recording EPs with Joe Cardamone of The Icarus Line.”

New record Waking Up Is Hard To Do received raved reviews from press and stomps, grooves and melts to a blissed out climax in all the right places, serving as an honest and timely reminder that sometimes after a fall, great talent just needs time to collect and take stock before it can breathe again.

Rolling Stones' Keith Richards admits to owing 50 years worth of library fines

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards owes library fines dating back some 50 years.

The 69-year-old icon told The Sun that he used to frequent his local library in Dartford many years ago.

However, the paper says he owes the book lending service around £20,000 after not paying back old fines.

Speaking about the Kent library, Richards said:

"It was a place where you get a hint there was a place called civilisation."

However, he added: "I still owe fines from about 50 years ago."

The Rolling Stones are currently on their 50 And Counting tour in North America, which will later take them to the UK for shows at the Glastonbury Festival and London's Hyde Park.

Gayngs tour bus mishap

American indie outfit, Gayngs, were forced to cancel their set at the Austin City Limits Festival on Saturday night (October 9) because their tour bus had been stolen. Or so they thought.

The band, who had been unable to reach the driver, reported the bus as stolen at 4:20am on Sunday morning (October 10) and had to cancel the gig due their entire set being aboard the bus.

However, in a further twist to the tale, it appears that the bus, and driver, are both safe and well in Nashville, over 800 miles away. It turns out that the driver was ordered to return there by the bus company because the band was late in paying their $6,000 bill. A claim which Gayngs vehemently deny.

A statement released by singer, and Bon Iver front man, Justin Vernon said, “We were given no warning of our gear being taken and it was absolutely our every intention to pay our bill. Matter of fact, me and Lewis just paid it. In person. In Nashville. Flew there this morning. None of that changes the fact that our gear WAS stolen. And taken hostage. And caused us not to be able play.“

The Austin City Limits Festival was the final date on their tour.

Watch the video to Gayngs' 'Cry' below:
