The Wanted freaked out by "sexual voodoo dolls"

Chart-topping boyband The Wanted were "freaked out" when they were sent "sexual voodoo dolls" from crazed fans.

The hunky five-piece - comprising Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker, Siva Kaneswaran, Max George and Nathan Sykes - have amassed a legion of female admirers since bursting onto the music scene a couple of years ago.

McGuiness says the attention isn't always welcome though.

Speaking to British newspaper the Daily Star he explained: ''Some fans are crazy. They sent us voodoo dolls, one of each of us. But they weren't the ones that you stick pins in.

He added: ''They were covered in signs saying where they want to touch us and do stuff to us, it was really sexual. They were like sexual voodoo dolls. It freaked me right out - it was very creepy.''

The Wanted are no strangers to overzealous female fans and once found a girl hidden away in their tour bus.

George previously explained: “We found her on the bus and she was begging us to let her stay. I said to her, ‘Well, you can, but you need to think really carefully about travelling with a bunch of lads.’ Then I started to see things weren’t right. She started to scare the s**t out of me, to be honest. She was a big girl from Wigan and it became one of the most scary things I’ve seen from a fan.

He added: “I had been sort of joking with her but then she wouldn’t leave the bus. She just refused to go. Security ended up coming and literally pulled her out.”

Robin Thicke reveals most embarrassing gig

Singer Robin Thicke has recalled the time he acted like "Spider-Man" in order to salvage one of his most humiliating concert experiences.

The 'Blurred Lines' star is currently enjoying huge success with his chart-topping hit featuring Pharrell Williams and T.I.

Thicke insists his career hasn't always been plain-sailing though, and has discussed one of his most embarrassing gig experiences to date.

Talking to British magazine Heat he revealed: "Falling off stage in Manchester [UK]. I literally walked right off a ten foot stage and landed on my feet like a cat. My band couldn't see me, so they didn't know where I went. One second they're looking up and I'm there, and the next second I've just disappeared! I had to climb up a speaker box like Spider-Man, just to get back on the stage."

Thicke - who is married to actress Paula Patton - admits he struggles with his anger outbursts at times.

He added: "My temper - it's pretty bad. I probably shouldn't say that, but let's just say there are a lot of expensive items in my house that have ended up in the trash."

'Written In The Stars' hitmaker Tinie Tempah has explained that before he broke into the big time with his 2010 debut album, 'Disc-Overy', he always looked up to Dizzee Rascal as a source of great inspiration.

Talking to Rollacoaster magazine, the London based rapper confessed that Dizzee was someone he admired and respected musically and personally:

"The person I wanted to be like was Dizzee Rascal. He made that transition from underground MCing to not only chart success in the UK but in the rest of the world, and almost consolidating his position as a British artist regardless of the genre he belongs to."

Tinie is currently putting the finishing touches on his sophomore offering, which is set to be named 'Demonstration', and explained that he's still getting his head around the success he has enjoyed and navigating the industry while learning about it:

"I feel that I'm very much still studying this whole craft; the music industry. I have no ego when it comes to this. I'm always watching people – and if they're doing something right, I want to know how it's done."

Meanwhile, he has recently been confirmed to perform at the upcoming tribute concert for the late Stephen Lawrence, which will take place at London's O2 Arena on September 29.

Nordoff Robbins is asking voters to celebrate music at its best and vote for a live act that's transformed their life over the past 12 months from a Top 30 shortlist, selected and based on Ticketmaster customer reviews.

The Top 30 has been selected based on gig reviews and ratings by Ticketmaster customers on the Ticketmaster website, all from live performances that have taken place over the last twelve months. Voting starts online on Thursday May 24th and closes at midnight on Monday June 25th. The winner will be announced at the O2 Silver Clef Awards on June 29th, announced at the event by Absolute Radio’s Hometime presenter, Annabel Port.

The reviews on the ticketmaster.co.uk website have helped find the top 30 most highly rated acts in the UK over the last 12 months while giving general public the final say on who is the best.”

The Best Live Act vote marks the 37th annual Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards - a fundraising event which celebrates the best in the world of music and raises vital funds for Nordoff Robbins' vital work.
David Munns, Chairman, Nordoff Robbins says:

“The Best Live Act is an exciting award for the annual O2 Silver Clef Awards. All of these people have one uniting factor - music dramatically improves their quality of life.

Since The Who in 1976, Nordoff Robbins has had the support of musicians over all genres of music including Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Slash, Tony Bennet, M People, Tinnie Tempah, Foo Fighters, Dizzee Rascal, Girls Aloud, Katherine Jenkins, Paulo Nutini, and this year already announced: Best British Act, Jessie J; Lifetime Achievement Award, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber; Classical Award, Laura Wright.

The O2 Silver Clef Awards is hosted by Nordoff Robbins at the London Hilton on Park Lane, on Friday June 29th. The star-studded annual event, known for its who’s who audience of A-list musical heavyweights, recognises outstanding musical talent whilst raising money for Nordoff Robbins, the national specialist music charity which uses music to transform the lives of vulnerable children and adults.

Nordoff Robbins has 60 therapists providing music therapy services to 100 organisations across the UK, amounting to over 50,000 music therapy sessions every year which are delivered in a variety of settings. The annual Nordoff Robbins Silver Clef Awards acts as the main fundraising platform for Nordoff Robbins, which already reaches out to so many. It helps through music therapy to dramatically enhance and in many ways save the lives of people who they work with and their loved ones.

David goes on to say:

“Our work at Nordoff Robbins is life changing. Since the Silver Clef Awards began 37 years ago, they have raised over £8m for Nordoff Robbins, allowing us to use music to transform the lives of many thousands of disadvantaged and vulnerable people.”

“I think the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Lunch this year will be a fantastic event, allowing us to further our help to so many more - we still have a long way to go to ensure we can deliver our music services to all those who need them.”
