Janet Jackson officially a billionaire

Janet Jackson has officially joined the ranks of the world’s richest as her net worth has reached into the billions.

The status means that she has become the wealthiest member of her famous family, even outstripping her superstar brother Michael Jackson, who never reached billionaire wealth during his lifetime.

Over her career, Jackson boasts 27 top ten hits and has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. She also successfully forayed into acting with films such as ‘Why Did I Get Married’ and ‘The Nutty Professor’. Her touring income also makes up a large part of her net worth.

Variety Magazine reports that Jackson has amassed $458 million from touring, $260 million from her albums, $81 million from sponsorship deals and her acting roles have given her $304 million.

Along with such celebrities as Oprah and J.K. Rowling, Jackson joins her husband Wissam Al Man in the elite billionaire’s club.

25 years after it was originally filmed, footage of a rare gig Morrissey played with The Smiths after the band’s break up has appeared online.

The gig took place at the Wolverhamption Civic Hall on December 22, 1988, over a year after the band’s break-up. Fans wearing Morrissey or Smiths t-shirts gained admission to see all the members of the band minus guitarist Johnny Marr play songs that that had never before been heard live as well as songs recorded for Morrissey’s solo career. At the time of the performance, the three other members were in the process of suing their former singer.

The footage appeared online yesterday featuring the full 40-minute set opening with ‘Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before’.

Olly Murs on US success: "I don't ever expect to reach the heights of One Direction"

Olly Murs has admitted that he'll probably never be able to reach the levels of fame One Direction have enjoyed in the US.

The boyband took North America by storm last year, with their arrival in the country likened to the Beatles.

Murs supported the 'Kiss You' stars on some of their American dates and it helped the fellow Brit to make inroads into a US career.

Speaking to the Mirror, the 'Army of Two' star admitted that he won't get as big as One Direction in the US - but he'll make a good fist of it. He said:

"In the UK, people don’t give X Factor contestants that much credit. Over in the States, they're listening to my music instead of saying 'Oh, he's from the X Factor...whatever'. I don't get the credit I deserve."

He continued: "So it's a really good thing for me. I'm able to come over here and be an artist – people are judging me on my abilities and my talent for my music. I don't ever expect to reach the heights of One Direction over here, but I believe I can be a success. And so far it's going well. It's been brilliant."

Macklemore discusses rise to fame: 'Pre-Internet, you had to rap in street battles'

Rap sensation Macklemore has explained that while his chart success was very sudden, he has been working hard to make a name for himself in the music world since he was just a kid.

During a revealing interview with Billboard for the new issue's cover story, the 'Thrift Shop' hitmaker confessed that he was taking part in street rap battles when he was a youngster to try and gain respect from those already in the game: "This was pre-Internet as a way to get your music out. So I had to do shows, but I was too young. Freestyling on the street or in the park was where I honed the craft."

He went on to unveil his dark past, talking about how he often preferred drugs to school: "It was pre-gentrification of Seattle's Central District. And I wasn't going to class and I was doing a bunch of drugs and drinking. So my parents put me in a predominantly white school in the North End and then I did a program called Running Start, which was like a community college. I never got a chance to climb any kind of social ladder anywhere. I was more into making music-and doing hallucinogenic mushroom voyages."

Discussing his recovery, Macklemore (pictured below with Ryan Lewis) added that while he's clean now he still struggles with 'overindulging': "I tend to be an overindulger in general. Like I've just eaten two bags of chips and I had a shitload of candy from a gas station last night."

"I don't have moderation in my life. I really have to work on it. So with drugs and alcohol, I had no moderation. Smoking weed and drinking hindered my creative process. They were the veil over my eyes. It never really worked for me, in terms of being prolific."

Well-loved American boyband Backstreet Boys have uploaded a preview of their brand new music in a mash-up style format.

The clip, which was shared this week, features six songs that span over the two-and-a-half minutes it runs for and all of the offerings can be found on the guys' forthcoming new studio album.

Meanwhile, the Backstreet Boys were at the Hollywood Walk Of Fame recently (April 22) to unveil their very own star and they took to their collective Twitter page to share updates and snapshots from the exciting event (shown below). They tweeted: "#BSBGetsAHollywoodStar We are SO excited, and we couldn't do it without YOU!!! Thanks so much. We love you, this is for you. We wouldn't be here without you."

Earlier this afternoon, the band told their online following that they're headed to Japan for a run of live dates that will kick off on October 2 in Nagoya and is set to go on until October 16 when the tour will come to a close in Kobe.

Rebecca Ferguson has admitted that she might retire from music after her next album.

The soulful singer burst into the spotlight back in 2010 when she finished runner-up to Matt Cardle on the UK X Factor.

She released her debut album 'Heaven' in 2011 but she later endured a public fall-out with her former management.

Speaking on Twitter today (April 18), Ferguson threatened to end her music career after her next record, citing the negativity that can surround fame. She said:

"I think i might quit after my next album I'm giving it great thought....so ill make this album f*cking amazing!!"

The singer continued: "Fame doesn't make people happy! Too many sharks in this industry creativity should never be hindered for money."

Former Celebrity Big Brother winner Rylan Clark has opened up about his hopes for the future and revealed that taking his time to do things will be key.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, he explained that when people find fame they try and do everything at once, which usually doesn't result in lasting success so he wants to choose his projects carefully without rushing:

"My dream would to be to have a number one hit, but that's all it is - a dream… there's a lot going on at the minute, lots of discussions."

"I went on X Factor to do music, that's what people forget, so if something comes up, great, but if not then I'll stick to telly. I'm taking this one step at a time. I don't want to be one of those muggy [reality stars] who opens a shop and does everything in the first five minutes and it all f**ks up. I've got half a brain cell on me."

He also admitted that botox has been something he likes to get done and teased that he might debut some new kind of augmentation in the near future, adding: "I'm nearly finished with what I want done with my face. Nearly. There's one more thing I want. You'll probably see what it is over the next few weeks!"

Coldplay reveal sadness over London venue's closure: 'We launched our career there'

British rock act Coldplay have written an open letter to the Camden New Journal that expresses their sadness at the news that the London venue The Bull & Gate (pictured below) is set to close.

The well-loved music hot spot will shut down and re-open later this spring as a bar and restaurant, but won't feature the addition of live bands. Coldplay explained that they got their first NME review after performing at the venue so it's definitely the end of an era and really disappointing news:

"In January 1999, promoter Simon Williams and the great people of the Bull let us bang out five songs in 20 minutes. It got us our first Nme review and changed our lives forever. Long live the Bull. We'll always be grateful."

The 'Fix You' stars aren't the only ones to be let down by the announcement as BBC Radio 6 host Steve Lamacq added: "It's a terrible shame. It's where I saw bands like Blur and Doves in their early days. Unfortunately it's another indication that live music is being squeezed out of certain areas, meaning bands have less choice of where to play."

Back in 2011, the 'Boom Boom Pow' star explained that the band's 'Beginning' tour would mark an end to their run, but explained that it wasn't a definitive break and he has now revealed that there will come a day when the Black Eyed Peas pick up where they left off.

Speaking to Access Hollywood earlier this week, Will.i.Am said they plan to emerge from their "slumber party" at some point:

"[We're] taking this little Black Eyed Peas hiatus, and [I'm] maximising while I have the time to go and do things."

"It's a deserved break - [or] pause, because a lot of times people can say, 'What break?' and 'break' is associated with break-up. It's a Black Eyed Peas pause."

The songstress, who recently performed with Adam Lambert at the Home For The Holidays concert (shown below), added that not being conventional has always been on her side and admitted that her look is also something she puts together herself:

"I always liked that salmon-pink hair colour; I still use it. And I loved the retro-glam look, but I wanted to make it my own, so I wore high heels and pedal pushers, which nobody was really wearing at the time. I'm obsessed with fashion."

Simon Cowell denies Taylor Swift and Harry Styles meddling

Reports surfaced earlier this week that suggest music mogul Simon Cowell spoke with One Direction's Harry Styles and asked him to make up with former flame Taylor Swift.

Swift and Styles were photographed kissing several weeks ago and took a few vacations together, but things appear to have cooled significantly between the pair and the press explained that Cowell stepped in and told the 'Little Things' heartthrob that their split could jeopardise his group's career.

A publicist for Cowell has now told Gossip Cop that the story is ridiculous and that the X Factor mastermind has done no such thing:

"This story was completely made up. One Direction make their own decisions on their personal relationships and this matter hasn't even been discussed."

Styles, meanwhile, was just named the sixth hottest hunk by Heat magazine and the No.1 place went to Olympic diver Tom Daley.
