Speaking to GQ magazine, the Newcastle-born hitmaker and Girls Aloud member explained that she works with Americans constantly and they have no trouble understanding her accent so that definitely wasn't a contributing factor to her swift exit:

"Me leaving the show was nothing to do with my Newcastle accent. I work with Americans all the time."

Cole also admitted that while in Afghanistan last year, the troops encouraged her to "blow up" a test dummy dressed as music mogul Simon Cowell and she said it "felt great":

"The troops in Afghanistan thought it would be funny to dress one of the test dummies as Simon and blow him up in front of me. It felt great, actually. When I landed back in England there was a message from Simon – 'Hello, Cheryl. So now that you've blown me up in Afghanistan can we talk?' – and we did."

The Girls Aloud star, who this week admitted she’s cleared the air with Simon Cowell following their X-Factor bust-up, told GQ Magazine that she is keen to start a family with the right man:

“I’d love kids. I’m obsessed with babies. Of course I’ve thought about baby names. A million times.

"I like Alfie for a little boy. I know that is what I was put on Earth to do – to be a mother.”

The 28-year-old, who releases comeback single, Call My Name, on June 10, also further discussed her admiration for Prince Harry, after previously admitting she had a crush on him.

She said: “Me and his dad are as thick as thieves and I knew Harry before I knew his dad so we’ve met a few times. I think he’s amazing and I think you can relate to him because he’s made mistakes.

“He’s cool. Although, I think I would be Cougarville in that relationship. I would be in Cougarville.”

Speaking to Metro Radio, Cole responded to suggestions from an upcoming Cowell biography that the music mogul had strong feelings from her.

However, Cole said that she never got that feeling from Cowell. She said:

"I never, ever felt that vibe from Simon. Never ever."

She also said that Cowell is "just laughing" at the controversy that has come out of the biography. She added: "I have spoken to him since and he's just laughing. He called me a toy to my face. If you read it the way people read it, it sounds awful. It was only ever used as a term of endearment to us, joking like. When we got the first new 'X Factor' set he called and said, 'I've got a new toy'. It's like a train set. He's just a big kid."

Speaking to BBC Radio 1 yesterday (April 25), the 'Promise This' hitmaker admitted that there's no point in living in the past or having bad feelings about the situation, and that she has continued to maintain a relationship with Cowell although it has changed:

"I have spoken to him many times since. If you're asking if there were interesting conversations ... absolutely."

Cole also spoke about the importance of social networking site Twitter, through which Cowell recently praised her new single 'Call My Name', and explained that she thinks it's a very useful tool:

"I resisted twitter for so long, it was the enemy for so long. But I love it now. I don't know what I was doing without it. I find that the haters on there are quite hilarious. Just have a nice time and follow nice people!"

Following her appearance at the Radio 1 studios, Cole tweeted: "To all you sweethearts who camped outside last night and waited in the rain... Bless you and thank you. Now go and get warm. *warm hugs*"
