GOLDFRAPP: BRAND NEW ALBUM 'TALES OF US' RELEASED 9TH SEPT 2013

NEW EUROPEAN TOUR ANNOUNCED FOR AUTUMN

SUMMER DATES: LIVE AT MANCHESTER INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL, SOMERSET HOUSE AND LOVEBOX HEADLINE SHOW

Goldfrapp release their stunningly beautiful new album ‘Tales Of Us’ through Mute on 9 September 2013. Their sixth album, ‘Tales Of Us’ is written and produced by band members Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory and was recorded at their studio in the English countryside.

A sumptuous body of work, ‘Tales Of Us’ has been two years in the crafting and is their most narrative, cinematic and intimate recording so far. Nothing in their accomplished back catalogue has hinted at the new lyrical breadth that the band have introduced to ‘Tales Of Us’. All the songs bar one are named in the first person with a cast list of evocative character sketches, the contrary love affairs, the suspense, hallucinations, fairy tales and modern folklores documented and the traces of redemption they find in song take the poetry of Goldfrapp’s delicately considered music somewhere brand new.

A trailer for the album offering the first chance to get a glimpse of ‘Tales Of Us' can be seen below.

With its uniquely cinematic narrative, filmmaker Lisa Gunning is creating a compelling and beautiful film to accompany the album, which will be shown in cinemas later this year.

Goldfrapp kick-start a summer of very special live performances with two shows at the Manchester International Festival on 17 & 18 July when they will be performing ‘Tales Of Us’ live for the very first time, accompanied by the Royal Northern College of Music string orchestra. The band will then be performing at Somerset House on 20 July before going on to headline the Lovebox main stage on Sunday 21 July.

The summer shows are a precursor to a European headline tour in October and November with the following performances:

Kasabian working on ‘aggressive’ new album

Leicester rockers Kasabian have said that their forthcoming album will be more “aggressive.”

Sergio Pizzorno, Tom Meighan, Chris Edwards and Ian Matthews are ready to start work on their fifth studio album this year, which will be a follow-up to 2011’s 'Velociraptor!'. The band have promised a more edgier sound for the new album after saying they felt that 'Velociraptor!' was too commercial.

Pizzorno said in an interview with NME, "'I'm obsessed with mantras. I love things that repeat and build. The drops in dance music always fascinate me."

"I want to push the sound. I never want to give in and think about selling albums. If it comes out next year it'll be the 10th anniversary from the first one [2004's self-titled 'Kasabian']. Pushing that electronic sound that we've had from the start would be the perfect way to round it off.'"

Meighan is already excited about some of the ideas he's heard from Pizzorno, which he compares to some of the band's earlier material.

He added, ''I've heard the demos and they're f**king raunchy and heavy. Riffy in the vein of 'Fast Fuse' and 'Underdog'. It's the most aggressive thing we've done. 'Velociraptor!' was like a pop album but this is much more extreme.'"

13-year-old Anais Gallagher is Noel’s daughter with ex-wife Meg Matthews and is featured in the new campaign with Stella Jones, 10, for the new ‘Cruelty Doesn’t Fly With Us.
Donning tutus, combat boots and cartoon wings shot by celebrity photographer Pal Hansen, they encourage people to report those who abuse animals.

Anais said, “We all know it's wrong to abuse animals, but it takes courage to speak up when we see an animal in trouble. If you suspect that somebody's hurting an animal, be brave - tell your parents, a teacher, PETA or a police officer. You could save that animal's life.”

Nick Grimshaw misses out on Sony breakfast show award nomination

Nominations for the prestigious Sony Radio Academy Awards 2013 have been revealed today.

The best breakfast show category will be hotly contested between names such as Chris Evans and Christian O’Connell. But Nick Grimshaw, who took over the Radio 1 morning slot from Chris Moyles last year, was noticeably absent from the list.

Grimshaw has taken the show to its lowest ratings in seven years since taking over late last year. However, he did manage to bag one nomination in the best use of multiplatform category.

Despite getting the axe last year from Radio London after an on-air rant against the broadcaster, Danny Baker is up for two awards including speech broadcaster of the year. Cerys Matthews will battle out Radio 2’s Johnnie Walker and Jamie Cullum for music radio broadcaster of the year.

The nominations also boasted several celebs that have forayed into radio from other careers, including Jarvis Cocker, Dermot O’Leary, Lauren Laverne and even Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones.
