Ed Sheeran samples Buffy The Vampire Slayer in new song

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he has paid tribute to Buffy The Vampire Slayer in a new song.

The singer-songwriter is currently working on material to follow up his 2011 debut album '+', which spawned such hits as 'Lego House' and 'The A Team'.

It seems he has been taking inspiration from some cult US TV shows, tweeting:

"Sampling buffy the vampire slayer in a song. Of course we are."

Sheeran previously said on Twitter that he had been busy working on unfinished songs, revealing:

"Cleaning out the metaphorical closet of song ideas today. Everything that is half written gets finished today."

Ed Sheeran meanwhile is currently on tour in North America as he supports Taylor Swift on her mammoth 'Red' tour.

Luke Higgins Releases his Debut Single 'I Wish You Love' After Landing Vax Campaign

Luke Higgins

‘I Wish You Love’

Debut Single Release 27th May, 2013

The Laurian Recording Company

Distribution & Marketing by Absolute / Universal

Session musician Luke Higgins takes centre stage with his version of the classic ‘I Wish You Love’, the soundtrack to the new VAX TV commercial.

After serving a lengthy apprenticeship, guitarist, songwriter and singer Luke Higgins is now stepping out of the shadows with his beautiful version of ‘I Wish You Love’, a song that was originally released by Charles Trénet in 1942 as ‘Que reste-t-il do nos amours’ and in 1957 as the translated ‘I Wish You Love’.

A classic that has been recorded by legends such as Frank Sinatra, Etta James & Rod Stewart, Luke recorded his version at the famous Rak studios with the revered producers Bacon & Quarmby. “Recording the song was an amazing experience, it is so beautiful and I hope I have done it justice!” When Luke came to the attention of Vax they were drawn to him as an artist and, on hearing his recording of ‘I Wish You Love’, knew that they had found both the soundtrack to the new Vax advert (which will air from April 2013) and an artist they wanted to work with in the future.

But Luke’s will be no overnight success story. Obsessed with the guitar since the age of 13 Luke was captivated by artists such as Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix (who also started his career as a session musician). Studying music technology at university in Leicester, Luke played everywhere he could to earn money, performing cover songs to entertain the audience and throwing in the odd original song “to test it out”. Moving to ACM in Guilford Luke started doing studio and live session work as well as any odd jobs he could, and soon found himself working with a Universal Records signed artist and on tour with Amy Winehouse. “That was a crazy time. I remember playing to a stadium full of people one night and the next morning I was working at a farm cleaning out the cattle.”

Luke went on to tour with various artists including Adele, The Script, Hurts, Clare Maguire and Juan Zelada (with whom he recorded the hit single ‘Breakfast In Spitalfields’) an experience that has equipped him well. “Working as a session musician has allowed me to observe other artists write, record and play live. Having learnt so much I’m now at the point, musically and in my self-belief, when I feel the time is right for me to step to the front of the stage.”

For the last few months Luke has been working on songs for his debut album, scheduled for release later in 2013, and, when his session work permits, performing throughout London and the South East including a residency in Google’s central London offices.

The Voice UK's Karl Michael: 'I used to sing with Ed Sheeran'

The Voice hopeful Karl Michael admitted that the popular BBC1 competition is his last shot at fame after a string of failed record deals.

Michael has been cleaning windows during the day and working at a bar at night to pay rent at his bedsit since his last contract with Atlantic record label fell through six months ago.

He admitted seeing former contemporaries — including Ed Sheeran — go on to achieve global fame made him depressed.

Michael said: “I let my guard down when I was signed to Atlantic. I expected everyone to do the work for me.

“But it doesn’t work that way. Ed Sheeran is a good example. He signed to Atlantic the same time as me and we even performed together. He built himself from the ground up, gigging all over the UK, making videos. My band didn’t do anything like that. Now I’ll be working in a bar and his songs come on. If I say I know him, people just say: ‘Whatever.'”

Michael added: “The Voice is my last chance. Last year I was eating lobster and drinking champagne, flying to LA for work. Then I was dropped and I was washing windows for a living. It was a shock and I got very depressed.”

Michael first began his shot at fame with his band Domino Go!, who were first signed in 2005 to Sony BMG. The deal collapsed two years later after the label tried to change their sound from pop to reggae.

Their second deal was with Atlantic in 2009, failed last year and Karl decided to go it alone.

He said: “I left Domino Go! and got two jobs, one behind a bar and another washing windows.

“I’ve been living in a horrible bedsit for nine months. It’s a box room with a sink and a mini-oven. I wouldn’t invite a girl there.”

Viewers of The Voice last night saw Sir Tom Jones, Danny O’Donoghue, Jessie J and will.i.am all turn their chairs for Karl, who sang Annie Lennox’s 'No More I Love You’s'.

In the end, he decided to join The Script coach Danny’s team and said: “I’m determined to give it my all.”

British songstress Dido has to do her household chores before setting about writing new music.

The singer - who rose to fame after recording vocals for Eminem's smash hit 'Stan' - is gearing up for the release of her new album entitled 'Girl Who Got Away' on March 4.

Dido enjoys writing new material, but insists on having a tidy space around her beforehand. In an interview with Hello! magazine, the star revealed: "I find it quite hard to write if I haven't tidied up. It's so annoying, I wish I could forget that I need to empty the dishwasher but I can't.

She added: "Having said that, I have a lot of ideas when I'm cleaning, doing something domestic."

Dido premiered her newest single 'No Freedom' last month.

She co-wrote the track with Rick Nowels, who has previously worked with the likes of Madonna and Lana Del Rey, and also helped write her popular single 'White Flag'.
