Coldplay expect Adele to triumph at BRIT Awards

Chris Martin has revealed Coldplay are resigned to losing out to Adele at next Tuesday’s BRIT Awards ceremony.

The group’s fifth chart-topper, 'Mylo Xyloto,' has been nominated in the Best British Album category alongside Adele’s multi-million selling '21,' Florence & The Machine’s 'Ceremonials,' Ed Sheeran’s '+' and PJ Harvey’s 'Let England Shake.'

But Martin told BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley that the band think the 23-year-old star, who picked up six gongs at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, will emerge victorious:

“Unless Adele somehow deletes her albums, I think we can come to the conclusion (that we won’t win anything). I’m pretty sure of it.”

But he added that he is still looking forward to the show at London's 02 Arena:

“You can be one of those artists that don’t really care about them or you can, like us, love it and we’re always so grateful to be included. It’s kind of Olympics for a band; it’s nice to win a medal.”

Coldplay are also up for Best British Band, while Martin is rumoured to be performing with Noel Gallagher on the night.

The band were due to perform at radio stations and on television shows in Sydney next week, but they have been forced to delay the trip and issued an official statement on the situation:

Noel Gallagher and Coldplay's Chris Martin could be set to perform together at this year's BRIT Awards.

Speaking on BBC Radio 2, BRITs host James Corden let slip that the pair might be set for a blockbuster collaboration.

However, he mentioned that he wasn't sure if it is true or that he was supposed to mention the potential duet. He said:

"I think - and I don't know if this is true and I'm almost certain that I'm not supposed to tell you - that Chris Martin is going to accompany Noel on the piano."

This year's BRITs, which take place in London on February 21, sees the likes of Ed Sheeran and Adele nominated for a number of gongs - however, Sheeran reckons that the '21' hitmaker will clean up at the awards.

Coldplay unveil mesmerising music video for 'Charlie Brown'

Coldplay have debuted their brand new video for 'Charlie Brown', which features their exciting illuminated accessory the Xyloband.

The group, who teamed up with a man named Jason Regler to create the multi-coloured flashing wristband, will release 'Charlie Brown' as their third cut from 'Mylo Xyloto' and the new video is visually stunning.

It shows the stars performing the track in a live environment set against flourescent lights and the scenes are littered with sparkling colours emitted from the Xylobands, worn by everyone involved.

Coldplay also took to their official Twitter account earlier today, February 3, and shared a link with their fans that explains how the innovative Xylobands were both created and became a part of their live show.

However, she wouldn't just end there - she said the list is endless. When asked about her perfect collaboration, she replied:

"I'm gonna say Coldplay. I feel really lucky with the collaborations I've done on this album ['Young Foolish Happy'] and now I've done a couple more and I've got a taste for it I definitely want to do more because I think it's a really fun thing to do. So I'm up for doing loads more. The list goes on. There are so many people I'd love to work with."

Coldplay, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Mumford & Sons, Russell Brand, Reggie Watts, and Many More to Perform at Radio City Music Hall for Amnesty International's Secret Policeman's Ball

Yesterday it was announced that for the first time Amnesty International's world-renowned Secret Policeman's Ball will be hosted in the United States. The event - a star-studded, legendary night of comedy and music - will take place on March 4, 2012 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

This historic event is a spectacular evening of original comedy, multiplatinum, award-winning musical performers and collaborations, never-before-seen sketches, stand-up and guest appearances, all written around and in support of free speech. An audience of more than 6,000 people will gather at Radio City Music Hall to experience a special night filled with original performances from some of the world's most popular entertainers including: Coldplay, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Mumford & Sons, Russell Brand, Reggie Watts and many more.

"I used to think humor was a luxury, but at the last election Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert taught me it was a necessity," said John Cleese. "The Secret Policeman's Ball was - and is - a coming together of the very best comedy talent of any generation to celebrate their art, remind audiences how important free speech is, and highlight just how much vital work Amnesty International does to protect it. I implore you to support it."

"We are so happy to be involved with the 2012 Secret Policeman's Ball," said Chris Martin of Coldplay. "We have followed and supported Amnesty International - and the amazing work they do around the world in the field of human rights – for years, and it is a pleasure to be asked to contribute to such an inspiring event."

Beginning in 1976, the Secret Policeman's Ball pioneered cause-focused benefit concerts that bring together star-power and world leaders to raise awareness about critically important global issues. The Secret Policeman's Ball has featured legendary artists and entertainers who both share world-renowned talent and a dedication to changing the world.

"Secret Policeman's Ball has a long and hilariously off-color history of using comic genius to fight for free speech and human rights around the world," said Lily Sobhani, Executive Producer of the Secret Policeman's Ball. "We are thrilled that the leading lights of comedy and music are coming together to bring the Secret Policeman's Ball to the United States for the first time."

"Entertainers have used political cartoons, protest songs and straight-out skewering of politicians and leaders to challenge virtually every government's failure to uphold fundamental rights," said Suzanne Nossel, Amnesty International USA's new Executive Director. "We are thrilled that some of the most creative political humorists of our time will perform when Amnesty International hosts the first Secret Policeman's Ball in the United States. And on March 4, those of us who can make fun of our government and walk away in safety will dedicate the program to those who cannot."

Amnesty International is thrilled to present the Secret Policeman's Ball, being produced by Amnesty International; world leading producer of global events Control Room; and leading independent creative agency, Mother.
