Singer Morrissey has hit out at the 'lavish' funeral of the late Margaret Thatcher, who died on April 8 following a stroke, saying that it makes a mockery of her "victims".

The ceremony, which was attended by Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, took place today in London (April 17) and enraged the 'Meat Is Murder' hitmaker because of the general grandeur and money spent on it.

He released a statement on the former Prime Minister's send-off and explained: "The coverage by the British media of Thatcher's death has been exclusively absorbed in Thatcher's canonisation to such a censorial degree that we suddenly see the modern British establishment as an uncivilised entity of delusion, giving the cold shoulder to truth, and offering indescribable disgust to anyone unimpressed by Thatcher."

"Even to contest Thatcher's worth is termed 'anarchist', and this source of insanity – intolerant of debate – is spearheaded by the BBC reporting not on how things actually are on British streets, but on how they would prefer things to be. For those of us who survived despite Thatcherism, and who recall Thatcher as a living hell, The Daily Mail and The Guardian have a steadfast message for us: You are nothing.

Morrissey goes on to add: "Our thoughts are further burdened by the taunting extravagance of Thatcher's funeral; the ceremonial lavish, the military salute, stripping Thatcher's victims of everything, and rubbing salt in wounds with teasing relish."

The family of Amy Winehouse gathered together yesterday (September 16) just two days after what would have been her 29th birthday to bury her ashes and to reveal her headstone.

Writing on social networking site Twitter, her father Mitch explained that it was an "emotional" day: "Today we consecrated The memorial stone for Amy and my mother. It was an emotional and joyous day. Mitch."

Britain's The Sun newspaper reported that there were around 70 people in attendance at the ceremony in North London and that her newly unveiled headstone is black with pink inscription.

Last week not only marked the late singer's birthday, but the first anniversary of the launch of The Amy Winehouse Foundation and the organisation announced that it has raised a staggering £230,000 since its inception.

Bee Gees twins "finally together" says Barry Gibb at brother's funeral

The funeral of the late Robin Gibb took place earlier today (June 8) and his brother Barry paid an emotional tribute to him with a touching speech.

The Bee Gees star passed away last month after battling cancer and the service took place this afternoon at St Mary's Church in Thame, Oxfordshire, where his brother Barry stressed that life simply is "too short":

"Life is too short. In Robin's case, absolutely too short. We should have had 20 years, 30 years of his magnificent mind and his beautiful heart."

He also opened up about the death of Robin's twin, Maurice, back in 2003 and said that at least they will now be reunited: "They were both beautiful. And now they're together. They're actually together."

"When you're twins, you're twins all your life. You go through every emotion. And they're finally together. I think the greatest pain for Robin in the past 10 years was losing his twin brother, and I think it did all kinds of things to him. And now they're together."

Barry Gibb added that to have lost three brothers is an "intense experience":

"This is a very strange experience, having already lost two brothers and now Rob. I think there are an awful lot of things happening right now that maybe you won't be aware of. And one is how many people came on such a terrible day. It is staggering."

"So many people loved this boy, so many illustrious people are here that loved him. And that is such a pleasure to witness. The three of us have seen a lot of crowds but I've never seen so much love in one crowd as I'm looking at today - for Rob, you know, for the music. And it's an intense experience for me."

Frankie Cocozza opens his heart over death of close friend

Frankie Cocozza has opened his heart over the recent death of his close friend, Connor Saunders.

19-year-old Saunders passed away in April after suffering head injuries from a fight, with good friend Cocozza helping to carry his coffin at his funeral on Friday (11 May).

Speaking to the Sun, the X Factor contestant said that he was in a hotel room in Scotland when he heard news that Saunders, who he had known for much of his life, was in a critical condition - with doctors only giving him two hours to live.

However, he couldn't fly down to England because he left his passport in his room - which meant he had to take a train. He said:

"I'd been on a night out. I was still half asleep when my phone rang again. It was my mate Olly, who told me that Connor was in intensive care and the doctors had given him two hours to live. I threw on my clothes, grabbed my wallet and ran out of the hotel, leaving everything else behind. I didn't realise I'd left my passport in my room."

He added: "I knew then I wasn't going to be with Connor at the end - and I was in a terrible state. I felt like I had let him down. I had to spend the next five hours on a train, where I just sat and cried."

The singer unfortunately didn't make it in time to see Saunders before he died. He said:

"It was the saddest sight you can imagine. Connor was lying on a bed with his family around him - all people who mean the world to me. They were each touching him and crying. I walked over, leaned down and kissed my friend gently on the top of his head. Then I said goodbye. At that moment I knew that my life would never be the same again."

Details of the late Whitney Houston's will have been released and she has left everything in her possession to daughter Bobbi Kristina.

The 'I Will Always Love You' singer's money, jewellery, personal effects and vehicles have all been signed over to the 18-year-old and Inside Edition first obtained the court document, which showed no mention of Houston's ex-husband Bobby Brown.

Inside Edition reported on Wednesday (March 7) that the money left to the teenager has been put into a trust fund and she will be given the first portion of her inheritance once she turns 21, with the rest coming at ages 25 and 30 respectively.

The 48-year-old died on February 11 and a cause of death is yet to be officially confirmed.

Target removes offensive Whitney Houston greeting card from sale

American superstore Target has decided to pull a greeting card from its collection as it makes fun of the late Whitney Houston and her rocky relationship with ex-husband Bobby Brown.

The offending card (pictured left) reads: "Next time you think of dating the bad boy, consider Whitney Houston."

Target released an official statement on their decision to the Associated Press, which explained that following the 'I Will Always Love You' star's recent passing it was in bad taste to keep selling the card so it has now been cut:

"It is never our intent to offend guests with the products we offer, and we take feedback from guests very seriously."

It was also confirmed yesterday, February 29, that the music icon has become the first woman to have 3 studio albums in the Top 10 of Billboard's 200 chart.
