New York’s ‘Late Night Champ’, Jon Sandler, crosses the pond with ‘Take My Time’.

Recently referred to as “the love child between Adam Levine and Tracy Chapman”, Jon Sandler and The Fancy Band are ready to bring their distinctive sound to the UK.

‘Take My Time’ is set for UK release on 22nd April 2013.

Jon Sandler and The Fancy Band have been steadily garnering attention in the US since the release of debut single ‘Late Night Champ’ earlier this year. The acclaimed single has been supported by prolific live performances across their home state of New York and the rest of the USA.

Current single, ‘Take My Time’, shows a change in direction from their previous release, replacing electric flourishes with acoustic melodies and vocals more reminiscent of Gavin DeGraw, with elements of FUN and David Gray.

Sandler says of the single:

“While I was writing it I was feeling very out of place in NYC, thinking that it doesn't feel like home which is why I was in a rush to make a girl my ‘home’. I’m happy to take my time with most things, but not a relationship – life’s too short for that.”

The band was formed in 2010, by lead man and song-writer Jon Sandler who wrote his first album at just 17. Sandler has deliberately taken his time crafting an album to be proud of recorded almost entirely in New York, the state he sees as the band’s natural home.

The production credits on the record are somewhat impressive, including collaborations with Grammy-nominated Justin Gerrish (Weezer, Muse, Vampire Weekend) and Chris Gehringer (Lady GaGa). The single is no exception to Sandler’s quest for quality, encompassing incessant piano motifs and infectious vocal patterns which make it a natural choice for single release.

After gaining the attention of London music critics during his recent visit, Jon Sandler’s impressive music video has been confirmed to feature on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch in the lead up to the release.

Jamie Cullum signs with Island + free download w/ Roots Manuva

Jamie Cullum

Signs deal with Island Records

+ unveils short film with free download

‘Love For $ale’

Feat. Roots Manuva

Jamie Cullum has today announced a special release, his first musical output in three years, coinciding with an announcement that he has signed to Island Records.

New track ‘Love For $ale’, a cover of Cole Porter’s classic and produced by Dan The Automator (DJ Shadow, Gorillaz), featuring British rapper Roots Manuva is available to download now via the website www.jamiecullum.com.

On the track:

“Roots Manuva is an institution. He's incredibly musical and between making his own amazing albums he has collaborated with so many varied and brilliant artists. After I ripped off his bassline, I had the audacity to ask him if he wanted to write a verse for the track. Luckily he was up for it. He has a sense of timing and drama that works so well with a live band in this situation, a commanding voice and a presence that could fit alongside Cole Porter. How many people can do that?”

Alongside the track, after seeing the recent work they had done for Rankin and Kanye West, Jamie commissioned the young and enigmatic directors Charlie & Joe to create a short film to accompany the song. The short features Larry Lamb of EastEnders and Gavin & Stacey fame as a heart salesman and can be viewed HERE.

“It's so fun for me to be part of something a lot more cinematic for the Love for $ale video’ says Jamie ‘it's not something I've had the chance to do yet in all these years making videos. I'm very proud for it to represent this song which in itself is a huge clash of different influences.”

With over 10 million record sales under his belt Jamie joins an incredible roster from past and present over at Island Records including Mumford & Sons, Bob Marley, Amy Winehouse, Robbie Williams, Florence And The Machine and Jessie J.

“Jamie Cullum is without doubt one of the most talented musicians and enduring artists this country has produced in years. At our first meeting it quickly became clear how excited and genuinely delighted Jamie was to be signing to Island Records. He also happens to be one of the most genuine and charming people in the business.” (Darcus Beese – Island Records President)

Since the release of his last album, as well as performing to millions of people around the globe on his critically acclaimed sold out tours, Jamie has been working on a variety of unique projects that have seen him collaborate with artists including Stevie Wonder, Rizzle Kicks, ?uestlove and The Roots, write the Golden Globe nominated song ‘Gran Torino’ for the Clint Eastwood film of the same name and perform at events such as the FIFA Ballon d’Or in Zurich in front of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and for Robert De Niro at his party at the recent Cannes Film Festival.

More information on Jamie’s fifth studio album will be announced in the coming weeks.

Spice Girls fan evicted for playing 'Viva Forever' on repeat

Gavin Townroe, who lives in the Lenton area of Nottingham, has been slapped with an eviction notice for repeatedly playing music by the Spice Girls at a disrupting volume during antisocial hours.

The resident was given an ASBO after neighbours complained about his behaviour back in January 2012 and one of the people living nearby was even signed off from work sick due to a lack of sleep. He continued to repeat the offences and has now been told by Nottingham City Council that he has until February 4 to leave the premises and to pay £913 in damages.

Enforcement officer Wayne Cliff explained to the Daily Mail newspaper that Townroe's music was so loud, neighbours would physically leave their properties to get away from the noise: "Despite being warned, Mr Townroe had a total disregard for his neighbours. At times the volume was so loud residents would leave their properties to escape the music."

Salah Alsayed, one of the other residents in the area, added: "As well as the Spice Girls, it was different music too – rock, dance, R&B. I like music too – but not like that. Friday, Saturday, you don't mind, but seven days a week is very difficult to deal with. Sometimes it would happen at seven, eight o'clock in the morning – I don't mind the Spice Girls but not at that time in the morning."

Gwen Stefani: "Motherhood is life changing"

No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani says being a mother is "super fun" before it starts getting "serious".

The singer-turned-fashion designer has two sons with Gavin Rossdale - Kingston, six, and Zuma, four.

Stefani says becoming a parent has impacted her life dramatically explaining to Vogue Magazine: “It’s super fun being a mom, but it’s not what you think it’s going to be… At first, your life is totally the same… And as they grow older, it really does start to change your life. Like, Oh, my God, they have school, they have to get through first grade, they have to learn to read.

She added: “It starts getting so serious, and you’re like, Aaaaaaah!”

Stefani says becoming a mother to two boys forced her to become more of an adult, as her time in pop punk band No Doubt allowed her to stay young and carefree for years.

She said: “I’ve never had to grow up in a way. When you think about it, we were in college together, and then we made our first record, and then we just took off and stayed in this bubble. But then when you have a family of your own, it forces you to go into the adult world a little bit more.”

Gwen Stefani found it hard to record new album whilst being a mother

Gwen Stefani has admitted that it was difficult to work on No Doubt's latest album whilst trying to be a mother at the same time.

The singer has two children with husband Gavin Rossdale - six-year-old Kingston and four-year-old Zuma.

Speaking to Marie Claire, Stefani revealed that she would sometimes turn up to the recording studio to work on 2012 comeback album 'Push and Shove' after a hard day's work, only to think of her children back home. The singer said:

"I would be up all night because my second baby didn't sleep, and he had a lot of ear infections. Then I'd wake up in the morning and do my workout, which I always felt I had to do, and then meetings for my three clothing lines, and then hang out with my kids, take them to preschool – da, da, da."

She continued: "At four o'clock, I'd be like, 'All right, I'm out of here. I'm going to go to the studio and try to write a record'. I'd sit on the couch [with my band mates] and be like, 'Let's do this now, because I'm missing time with the kids. I could be having dinner with them and putting them to bed'. It was really hard."

No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani has revealed that after her father saw Gavin Rossdale on television he told her that's who she would end up getting married to.

Speaking to Stella magazine, the platinum-blonde beauty explained that not only did her father have an intuitive inkling about their love, but she also felt it when she first met Rossdale backstage at one of his gigs years ago:

"That's when my life changed. Here was this successful, good-looking English guy who seemed to be interested in me. I couldn't believe it. My dad actually predicted it, though."

"When he saw Gavin on TV once, soon after we met, he said to my mom, 'There's your future son-in-law.' But I didn't really believe it was going to happen until the day we actually got married."

Stefani added that the pressure of their careers and the constant touring almost acted as a destructive force, but they were able to come through it and are happier than ever now:

"It's certainly been challenging for us at times. We had to spend a lot of time apart because of our careers. I basically spent all of last year on my own because he was in his band, touring the world. That was hard for me, being at home with the two boys. But now he's home we realise how much we need each other."

The songstress is seldom seen without her trademark red lipstick on and admitted to Harper's Bazaar that in order to make sure Gavin Rossdale remains attracted to her, she likes to ensure she looks her best at all times:

"I like to make my husband like me more, and he likes it when I'm wearing makeup. I already put my makeup on twice today: I put it on to take my kid to school, and then I went home, washed my face, and put it on again to have lunch with you."

Gavin Rossdale: 'I have to sacrifice family life for my band'

Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale has admitted to suffering from panic attacks when faced with leaving his wife, Gwen Stefani, and family to go on tour.

The 'Love Remains The Same' singer told TheFirst3Songs.com that it's so hard to say goodbye to his two young sons (Kingston, 5, and Zuma, 3) and although it's great that Bush have reunited for a string of live gigs and to work on new material it's such a sacrifice to miss out on family life:

"(Leaving my kids behind is) a real challenge. That is a real difficult part that is very painful. It is most acute with the kids because they are five and three. A month is an eternity to them at that age, and to me too... It is really challenging. It is further proof that in life there is no free lunch and there is sacrifice to be made..."

"(Bush's success) is tinted with the fact that I am not going to see my kids until the end of October, and then only for four or five days. Then I have to go to Europe for a month. That's not complaining, it's just reality in everything you do. Anyone with a kid and a job knows what I am talking about... I had panic attacks at the beginning of it all thinking about being away from them, just the idea that I am away a lot is challenging."

Bush announce comeback tour dates

Gavin Rossdale's band, Bush, have announced a very small but exciting tour for later this year in London.

The rockers, who recently released their comeback single 'The Sound Of Winter', will perform to intimate crowds in England's capital city during November to promote their forthcoming studio album, 'The Sea Of Memories'.

Of the new record, Rossdale said: "When making music, you have a choice to repeat what you've done or move on. It would've been safe to just rework [1994's debut album] 'Sixteen Stone' over and over, but what kind of life would that be?"

"When you're driving down the road, you're focused on what's in front of you; you don't really think to keep checking in your rear-view mirror. I like the idea of art changing, developing and morphing."

Catch Bush at the following venues:

November 20 - Bush Hall

November 21 - 100 Club

November 22 - Cargo

Tickets for the exclusive tour dates are due to go on sale at 9am on August 5 and you can check out their latest offering below:

Gavin Rossdale has opened up about the “horrific” night when his son with rocker wife Gwen Stefani, Zuma, took a tumble from a countertop in the couple’s home, breaking his arm.

“It was one of the worst nights of our lives,” the former Bush frontman told People.com. “It was one of those freak events — he fell. A freak accident.”

The parents rushed the two-and-a-half-year-old to the hospital following the incident, and Rossdale says all is well once again.

“He’s fine now,” says Gavin. “It’s almost worse for us [as parents] … The kids are never alone and you turn your back and it takes a split second.”

Photo of Gavin Rossdale and Marilyn emerges

A new photo has been released showing rock singer Gavin Rossdale with cross-dressing 80s pop star Marilyn, with whom he had a gay fling as a teen.

The picture shows Marilyn – real name Peter Robinson – embracing the teenage Bush singer about his waist and leaning his head on the young man’s chest. Both men wear matching white suits.

Rossdale finally confirmed this month that he did indeed have a relationship with Marilyn as a young man after initially denying it when Boy George wrote about them in his memoirs back in 1995.

Rossdale, who is now married to singer Gwen Stefani, claimed he was wary of the possible reaction:

“I think at the outset there was a sort of fear - that was right at the beginning of Bush, and I didn’t want it to be part of it. It felt like a cheap shot, so I was like: ‘I’m not getting involved'.”

Marilyn also kept quiet about the affair at the time for the sake of Rossdale’s US career, but recently broke his silence on the matter, forcing Rossdale to face up to the rumours.
