Over the weekend, members Liam Payne and Niall Horan were shocked after getting mobbed while walking around New York City during a day off and the group talked to Jenna Bush Hager about what it's like to live in the spotlight.

Heartthrob Louis Tomlinson explained that despite their very public image, it is possible to walk around unnoticed:

"But the thing is, it's easy going to the shops really. Everyone has this, like, idea that you can't go to the shops, but the only time when ever it gets crazy is when everyone knows we're in a certain place. If we just walk into the shop you might have two or three people stop you for a photo, but..."

Harry Styles added: "The only bit that you kind of wish you got to do more of is see your family. So I don't think there's ever a point where the cons outweigh the pros."

When asked if they would be attending the 2012 London Olympics later this summer, an excited Liam Payne revealed that his girlfriend is actually taking part:

"My girlfriend's cheerleading in the Olympics. Genuinely, for the volleyball!"

The 'What Makes You Beautiful' star took to social networking site Twitter last night (May 28) and explained to his 3.6 million followers that the 'Heart Skips A Beat' hitmaker is set to join them in Canada later today, joking that "Toronto is not ready for Olly and 1D":

"@ollyofficial u ready bro? Toronto is not ready for olly and 1D, gona be sick!"

Murs soon replied and wrote: "Oi oi @NiallOfficial have landed in TORONTO!! Its on @onedirection tour!! Can't wait to get started!!"

Horan also tweeted about the group's most recent live show and described it as "incredible":

"Philly, that was some of the most amazing scenes ive witnessed in my 18 yrs, was soo hot up there it was wrong, but u guys were incredible."

The floppy-haired heartthrob tweeted a link to an Instagram post earlier this evening (May 28), which shows him stood with Travis Barker. He accompanied the photo with the caption: "Travis Barker....stergram?"

The 'One Thing' singer didn't explain why he was with the talented rock star, but the One Direction lads are due to perform in New Jersey later tonight at the Susquehanna Bank Center.

Niall Horan also told his followers that he had spent time hanging out with the 'All The Small Things' superstar and added: "Just met @travisbarker what a super nice guy and he brought his kids along t see us, soo cool."

As promised, the group revealed details of the treat they teased fans with last week and announced that they will host a DVD watching party on Thursday, May 31.

The new pictures, which were uploaded to the programme's official Twitter page over the weekend, show the judging panel visibly enjoying themselves and even standing up in support of a performer on stage.

Britney Spears and Demi Lovato, the two new additions to this year's panel, seem to be getting along well with Simon Cowell and LA Reid, and former Disney starlet Lovato has even been joking with Cowell on social networking site Twitter:

"@simoncowell if you were a food you'd be crustaroni & cheese #xfactor"

'Hold It Against Me' songstress Spears also spoke out last week about how she felt "right at home" in her new role on the popular televised vocal talent show.

The 'What Makes You Beautiful' heartthrob told Celebs on Sunday magazine that he smashed up a "limited edition" Vespa moped and caused a lot of superficial damage to the paintwork, which stylists had to cover using nail polish:

"I smashed up a Vespa... I'm making this sound more glamorous than it actually was. It just span out and went crazy, ran on about two metres and hit some gravel."

"And it was a limited edition, worth thousands. They had to put red nail polish on it to cover the scratches."

Liam Payne also commented on Malik's misfortune and joked that considering it was his first attempt at driving a proper scooter it was a poor effort:

"He'd never driven a moped before and he had this brand new red one we were using in a video shoot - and crashed it."

Several days ago (May 25), the 'One Thing' hitmakers teased their 3.9 million followers with the news that they had a special surprise planned for anyone who bought a copy of their 'Up All Night' DVD, and they have now unveiled their plans.

Writing on Twitter earlier this afternoon, they explained that an exclusive "watch party" will be held this coming Thursday (May 31) that will enable their fans to tune into the DVD at the same time as them for a live and interactive commentary-type event:

"It's an OFFICIAL #1DVDWatchParty for the 1D family on Thursday May 31st, 5.30pm London time!! 1DHQ x Make sure you join us here on Thursday for a live commentary and pics from the boys as they watch the DVD live! 1DHQ x"

"Simply press play on your DVD at 5.30pm on Thursday and watch/tweet along with us! BEST. PARTY. EVER!! #1DVDWatchParty 1DHQ x"

The lads are performing across the USA on their headlining run of dates, but members Niall Horan and Liam Payne were swarmed by a large group of fans in Manhattan this afternoon as they were going about their day off.

Horan took to social networking site Twitter and wrote: "This is a complete joke. Ridic. Day off, wana chill."

His followers quickly responded with a flood of concerned messages and one of them tweeted: "It disgusts me how some 'fans' treat you guys. Makes me upset to be a fan :'( Honestly we're not all like this. Much love xx"

Liam Payne also shared his views on the stressful experience and added: "That wasn't even funny."

The heartthrobs have shared the clip in question before, but couldn't resist sending it out again to their 3.9 million followers and although it's only 23 seconds long it shows band member Harry Styles wearing a tight-fitting pair of Tommy Hilfiger boxer briefs.

A tweet from their official account (May 26) read: "We heart Saturdays. A whole day to watch #harryinhispants on repeat."

The 'One Thing' superstars have been making headlines recently because of their collective way with the ladies, and quirky songstress Paloma Faith joked to the Daily Star newspaper that she is currently considering a marriage proposal from Niall Horan:

"I met One Direction recently and Niall proposed to me. He said he wanted to marry me so I'm currently thinking about it."

Writing on Twitter earlier this morning (May 26), the pop superstar explained that she is enjoying being a part of the vocal talent show and so far has been impressed with the auditions:

"Austin - I love you! You made me feel right at home in that judge's chair. Kansas City here we come! @TheXFactorUSA"

X Factor USA's official Twitter account also posted a quote from Spears, which read: "Austin has been great. I can def tell its a music city, except for that one guy they let on stage!"

Following her judging panel debut, the internet was overrun with reports that she had stormed off during the live auditions round in Austin, but Spears was quick to refute the claims and explained that she was simply taking a break:
