The 'Lipstick' duo are nominated alongside Angelos Epithemiou, David Hasselhoff, Ian Beale and Lee Nelson and the votes are open to the public on loaded.co.uk.

The likes of Ricky Gervais, Vic and Bob, Tim Minchin and Dom Joly are also nominated for awards but Jimmy Carr leads the nominations with his name cropping up for five awards, including Funniest Male and Funniest Twitterer.

The awards will take place sometime in February.

The X Factor duo were also invited to meet the pop legend backstage. 

"We are gonna get to meet Britney spears (sic)," they wrote on Twitter. "it gonna be the Biggest Moment of our Life! And the biggest Moment for Jedward Fans.

"We are gonna get to Perform with Britney Spears Tonight! It's gonna be a JEPIC moment and we are gonna relive it and remember it for life!"

The Irish stars sent a good luck message to Spears saying: "you are totally awesome you are gonna Rock Tonight!" and encouraged fans to tweet their excitement for the upcoming "performance of the year". 

"Everyone needs to know this is a very very exciting moment!," they added. "Every interview we have ever done has always had us talking about."

 

Jedward returned to Twitter ater their on stage appearance and prepared for a more intimate meeting with the superstar. 

"we are backstage! This the most coolest thing eveeeeeeer!" they wrote. "It's craZy we are gonna be breathing the same air! It's Britney Air! #JEDWARDLoveBRITNEY #JEDWARDmeetingBRITNEY"

Jedward are set to represent Ireland in next year's Eurovision Song Contest.

The pair, who recently stirred up trouble in the Celebrity Big Brother house, will take their catchy covers and own hits out on the road just before Christmas and will finish the dates in England's capital.

The new housemates will live together for three weeks at the luxury pad in this year's relaunch of the show, which has now moved from Channel 4 to Channel 5.

The 'Lipstick' singers teamed up with the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC) for a celebrity campaign, which has been championed by Westlife's Mark Feehily. Speaking about their decision to be photographed in such a brutal manner, they explained:

"We were bullied at school but we were lucky in one way as we had each other. We know ... firsthand how horrible bullying can be and so we jumped at the opportunity of being part of this campaign."

The pair, Irish twins John and Edward Grimes, announced that their new record will be called 'Victory' and is due to be released on Monday, August 15. 

In addition to their Eurovision entry, 'Lipstick', the album will also feature their new single 'Bad Behaviour', the video for which includes a cameo from gossip king Perez Hilton, and 13 other previously unheard songs.

The pair, John and Edward Grimes, revealed to BANG Showbiz that they're keen to revamp their look and intend to start with their teeth:

"We're going to get, like, fake teeth or something. We're going to get white veneers done to make ourselves look really Hollywood. We don't need them but we feel that when you have crooked teeth it makes you look younger and we don't act like 19-year-olds, we act a lot younger."

Talking about their fascination with the USA, they added:

"Recently we were at the airport in LA and we saw Mariah Carey. She goes to us, 'Say hello to Louis for me' and she got the little people carrier and she only travelled like a 100 metres on it. Love the diva!"

"We need to get a bigger entourage - like lots more people - and be really celebrity-like."

The twins had to be interrogated by the Secret Service so as to determine their mental stability – a test which John and Edward passed. Then, after the questioning, the pair were searched for weapons in their clothes, shoes and even their famous six-inch quiffs.

John told the Daily Star: “We had to have big security checks before we were allowed to meet him.

“They scanned our bodies and searched us to make sure we didn’t have anything we shouldn’t have. They even searched our hair to make sure we weren’t hiding any weapons in there.

“They kept poking our quiffs and messing up our hair,” he explained. “We then had to have a personality assessment to make sure we weren’t crazy and would attack Obama.

“But in the end the President and his wife Michelle loved us. Michelle even invited us to visit the White House and see their daughter.”
