Chelsea Michelle is set for debut album release “Treasures”

Fresh from touring with glam rock band TNT, soulful singer-songwriter Chelsea Michelle is now set for her debut album release ‘Treasures’.

Produced by Lars Lien (Larsville Studio), the album also features world renowned bass player and long time fan of Chelsea’s music Tony Levin, (who has played for Cher, John Lennon, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Lou Reed, Seal, and Peter Gabriel and others). The title track from the album also comes coupled with a beautiful ambient remix from Rachel James – who is highly regarded for her work with Bowie, Sony, Steve Strange, Black Eyed Peas, and Jessie J.

Born in Swansea, Chelsea moved to her father’s hometown in Norway aged three. There, she grew up in the centre of a battle for the right to keep her name: “I had to fight for my right to be named Chelsea in Norway. They claimed it wasn’t a proper name and believed it would be connected to football over here in the UK, and that I could be bullied for it.” This, and other early tribulations, clearly had an impact on Chelsea’s strong character; which is laid bare in her music. Her soulful sound is one that could only be paired with someone who has lived an enriched life, and is not afraid to share it, frankly, with her listeners. The album was developed from a melody she initially developed at the age of six: “[it] brought back old memories and feelings from my childhood, a childhood where I felt lost, afraid, unloved and lacked confidence... My songs are honest, vulnerable and also full of hope.”

The Beach Boys are the latest act to be added to the line-up of a special performance in London’s Hyde Park this summer alongside pop groups JLS and The Saturdays.

The diverse line-up will make up part of the programme for A Day At the Park, an event featuring children’s entertainment from The Gruffalo, Horrible Histories and Braniac.

The show will be a part of a series of events called the Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time. The series already boasts performances from Elton John, The Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi along with a variety of activities for ticket holders to enjoy.

Red Hot Chili Peppers have confirmed that their former guitarist won't be in attendance when they are inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame next month.

John Frusciante was a big part of the iconic group for some time, but drummer Chad Smith has explained that he simply "didn't feel comfortable" with the idea of being present at the prestigious ceremony:

"He didn't feel comfortable coming, which we totally respect. We asked him... He said, 'I'm just not really comfortable with that, but good luck and thanks for inviting me.' It was all good."

"He's the kind of guy, I think, that once he's finished with something he's just on to the next phase of his life. The Chili Peppers are not really on his radar right now."

Red Hot Chili Peppers open up about life without John Frusciante

Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers has said that the departure of guitarist John Frusciante has been good for everyone involved.

Frusciante worked with the band on huge albums like 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik', 'Californication', 'By The Way' and their 2006 offering, 'Stadium Arcadium', over a period of 21 years.

49-year-old frontman Kiedis told the Daily Mirror that Frusciante's decision to leave was best for everyone:

"It felt good because I knew he would be happier doing something else. We had accomplished so much with John, something we will live and die being very proud of".

32-year-old Josh Klinghoffer has since filled in for Frusciante and he can be heard on Peppers' latest album, 'I'm With You'. Kiedis said that he fitted in with the group straight away:

"Josh walked through the door with a sense of self. Within a couple of weeks he started showing us some of his ideas and we thought these are really beautiful and we can build on them and make it happen".

Check out these live Red Hot Chili Peppers performances of 'Califorication', 'Soul To Squeeze' and 'Dani California', all with their new guitarist, Josh Klinghoffer:

Red Hot Chili Peppers' new guitarist adds something 'different'

Rock legends Red Hot Chili Peppers' new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer brought ''something very different'' to the band's latest album, 'I'm With You'.

Klinghoffer replaced former guitarist John Frusciante in 2008, and bass player Flea thinks his talents as a multi-instrumentalist brings a very different style to the group.

Flea said in an interview with Red Bulletin Magazine: "Josh is an all-around talent - he plays guitar, he sings, he plays drums - so he's a real musical guy. He's the kind of subtle player who creeps up on you rather than wowing you right away, and you sit back and see what he does grow into something gorgeous."

"Josh is also a great writer, and he wrote great stuff for this album. So Josh brought something very different for us."

Flea continues to compliment his former bandmate, Frusciante, who left because he didn't want to be in a "big rock band" anymore - saying he thinks he could be "the best guitarist in the world".

He added: "It's a lot different from John. John was a virtuoso-guitar-hero type of player - and probably the best guitarist in the world."

Klinghoffer is also yet to tour with the band, but said he has no worries when the band plays live together later this month.

He said said: "It hasn't gotten weird yet, although I haven't really been onstage with them as a member of the band."

"But being in the studio and writing songs hasn't been weird in the least. How will it be when I step onstage with them? I don't think it's going to be any different."

'I'm With You' is set for release on August 30 and you can watch an interview with Flea and Josh Klinghoffer on his transition into the band here:
