Kimberley Walsh on body confidence: 'I stopped dieting altogether when I was in my early 20s'

Girls Aloud songstress Kimberley Walsh has revealed that dieting has always just been a 'quick fix' so she stopped doing it and now just maintains a healthy lifestyle.

The beauty spoke to Cosmopolitan's new Body issue about her feelings about her own physique and explained that when she monitored what she ate and worked out, the results were never lasting so she decided not to do that again:

"Like most women, I dieted a lot as a teenager. I remember doing Atkins a few times before a video shoot. It worked, but it was always a quick fix. As soon as I stopped, I'd crave all the things I'd banned myself from and put the weight straight back on! I soon realised that I couldn't keep it up. I stopped dieting altogether when I was in my early 20s."

She added that having curvy, sexy women to look up to in the music industry helped with her own confidence: "It was only when people like J-Lo and Beyoncé came on the scene when I was younger that I thought, 'Well, if they’re considered attractive and sexy, then it can’t be that bad!' It’s really handy because you can see what they’re wearing and get tips on what might suit you."

UK Charts Prepare to #FeelTheLove with Cahill ft Kimberley Locke

Cahill are back with their new single, ‘Feel The Love’ and prove once again that when it comes to anthemic, floor-filling house music, no one does it better! The Liverpool-based trio underline their status as one of the UK’s hottest production outfits as they team up with American Idol star, Kimberley Locke, on vocals, to deliver an uplifting, euphoric track destined to become a summer anthem. Due for release on 16th June on 3 Beat Records, ‘Feel The Love’ brings a simple, positive message, on top of a tune so catchy you’ll be humming it in your sleep!

Cahill are Anton Powers, Tim Condran and Scott Rosser. They crashed into the UK charts in 2007 with their first single, ‘Trippin’ On You’, a vocal house classic, playlisted on Radio 1, Galaxy, Kiss FM and more, going on to be played over 30,000 times on UK radio! The trio continued to hone their skills, delivering huge dancefloor smashes, alongside remixes that read like a who’s who of popular music, including; Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Nicole Scherzinger, Taylor Swift, Emeli Sande, Professor Green, Miley Cyrus, Robbie Williams, Mariah Carey, Paloma Faith the list goes on...

Kimberley Locke was a competitor on the 3rd series of American Idol, gaining huge exposure as she battled her way to third place. Since then she has forged a successful career in music and television in the US. A chance encounter lead to the opportunity to work with Cahill, and Kimberley’s stunning vocal abilities merged seamlessly with Cahill’s studios skills and dancefloor instincts to create something very special. When these artists got together the message was obvious....#FeelTheLove!

‘Feel The Love’ is already enjoying heavy Radio 1 support from the likes of Greg James and Danny Howard, as well as Capital, KISS FM and many more. The track itself kicks off with the euphoric vocal refrain, ‘Feel The Love’, giving an immediate feel-good injection. From then on the quality Cahill production keeps on building the positive dancefloor vibes, with a warm, funked up bassline, pumping beats and uplifting strings; the perfect backdrop for Kimberley’s soaring vocals. Summer has most definitely landed!

The video for ‘Feel The Love’ is the ideal accompaniment to the song; a feel-good video that leaves a smile on your face every time you watch it. It begins with Anton from Cahill writing a message on a post-it note which he leaves crumpled on the floor of a tube train in London. A guy picks it up, reads it and then catches the eye of a beautiful girl. From there, they fall in love and spread the message to Feel The Love across London....

With Cahill’s dance music background, it’s no wonder that, ‘Feel The Love’, comes with a remix package so big you could hold a festival in its back garden! Alongside Cahill’s own Club Mix, Grum steps up to deliver a cool mix full of early 90’s style pianos and drum loops – destined to be big. Anton Powers teams up with E-Squire for another big room house version, while rising star TS7 shows why he’s being talked about with a quality UK garage mix. Benjamin Leung & Fiasko drop an electro house mix with anthemic chorus and driving bassline, while next up, Toy Armada and DJ Grind add trance-tinged synths to their uplifting mix. Hi Def drops a tougher electro mix, and just when you think you couldn’t dance any more, Tommy MC kicks in with a pumping piano house mix that will drag you back to the dancefloor once again!

As the sun starts to shine, the message from Cahill and Kimberley Locke is loud and clear. #FeelTheLove

Nadine Coyle announces studio return

Nadine Coyle has confirmed she's back in the studio after Girls Aloud's recent split announcement.

The Irish songstress took to Twitter today to let her fans know she is working on solo material since parting ways with Cheryl Cole, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding after the end of their 'Ten' tour.

Coyle wrote to her followers: "Back in the studio. If you could hear what i hear!!!! Xxx this is for all of you. Xciting! Xxx (sic)."

After Girls Aloud revealed they were going their separate ways after the end of their tour last month, Coyle caused a stir after writing on the social networking site: "You should know by now I had no part in any of this split business. I couldn't stop them. I had the best time & want to keep going. Xxxx (sic)."

Bandmate Harding spoke out on Coyle's tweet, telling British magazine Look: "I was unaware she even felt like that. At no point did she try and stop us, so you’d have to ask her why she did that. I have to respect her decision."

Songstress Kimberley Walsh has revealed that former Oasis superstar Noel Gallagher recently told her that she was his favourite member of Girls Aloud.

Speaking to Britain's The Sun newspaper about being approached to perform at the Teenage Cancer Trust shows, which Gallagher is organising for later this year, the hitmaker explained that he called her up and made the confession during their chat:

"Yeah, he called me up out of the blue. It’s great that he's involved and is arranging it. It was exciting to speak to him. I was like, 'Really?' He said I was his favourite [Girls Aloud member] and Sarah wasn’t very happy about that."

Walsh admitted that while she was really excited about the offer, she had to decline it as the dates clashed with previously confirmed Girls Aloud commitments:

"The Girls Aloud tour is around the same time so we couldn't make it work. I'm gutted that we can't do it."

Kimberley Walsh hopes boyfriend avoids Valentine's proposal

Girls Aloud beauty Kimberley Walsh would hate for her boyfriend to propose on Valentine's Day as it is too much of a "cliché".

The stunning singer has been in a relationship with Justin Scott for almost a decade - and Walsh has revealed in the past that the pair are in no rush to walk down the aisle.

The songstress hopes February 14 would be a date that her boyfriend avoids proposing on, as she finds the romantic day a little bit predictable.

She told The Mirror: “Valentine’s Day is a bit of a cliché. Every Valentine’s Day would be the day you got engaged, and then you would have to celebrate them both together.

She added: “I want to spread it out. Then you get more celebrations throughout the year.”

Walsh received a wedding proposal from fellow Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole this week.

After MPs voted on Tuesday (February 5) to allow same-sex couples to marry, Cole took to Twitter to ask for her bandmate's hand in marriage.

Walsh has laughed off Cole's cheeky antics.

She laughed: “She’s so naughty. The fans were going crazy. It was just a joke but as soon as she did it, I was like ‘Oh, God, what has she started’?”

Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh was in her "element" while putting together her debut solo offering.

The blonde beauty's 'Centre Stage' is a collection of much-loved classic show tunes, and theatre fan Walsh says recording the album was a dream come true.

She explained to the Daily Star: "I’ve grown up listening to the great musical stars like Lea Salonga. It’s always played a big part in my life. I was thrilled when Decca Records approached me to do the album – I was completely in my element being able to re-work and record some of my all-time favourite songs."

The much-anticipated Girls Aloud tour kicks off later this month, and Walsh has gushed about being back with her bandmates after over three years apart.

She smiled: "The last few years have been incredible and I’m loving everything I’m doing right now. It’s lovely being back with the girls and being able to do my own thing as well. I never plan too far ahead, I always choose things I feel passionate about and they always lead to something else.

Walsh added: "In this business you never know what the future holds."

Girls Aloud songstress Kimberley Walsh has revealed that she is impressed with Cheryl Cole's success, but explained that she wouldn't like to be that famous because it must be stressful.

Speaking to S magazine, the newly solo singer confessed that the thought of people constantly photographing you and following you around doesn't appeal to her:

"I don't know if I'd deal with that as well as Cheryl does. Wherever you go it creates a scene. She copes really well, but then she's got close family around her and she's also got us."

Despite speculating on how she might cope with extreme levels of fame, Walsh added that she's very "chilled out" and she keeps a level head outside of her day job: "I'm quite chilled-out as a person and my family always say, 'you have a good temperament for this job because things go over your head.' My job is extraordinary but my life outside work is very normal."

She also opened up about her solo work and confessed that she wanted introduce showtunes to a younger generation: "The idea is to turn some of the songs on their head and bring something different to them, and also I want to introduce them to the younger generation - you know, our fans and people who wouldn't usually buy a musicals album."

Girls Aloud beauty Kimberley Walsh doesn't feel under any "pressure" to walk down the aisle with her long-term beau.

The stunning star has been in a relationship with Justin Scott for almost a decade and their romance has gone from strength-to-strength.

Walsh doesn't feel any pressure to tie the knot though, and is enjoying the current state of her relationship.

She explained to Cosmopolitan magazine: ''I've had [people ask] for a long time, since I was about 25. In this industry, people assume that if you're together more than a year then you're going to get married.

She added: ''But we don't take on the pressure of the outside world; we know where we're at in our relationship. Besides, I think being together nine years is almost a marriage in itself."

Although Walsh admits the pair are very comfortable around each other, she says it's still important to make effort.

She continued: ''We're both quite chilled out. We like watching the same things and doing the same things - we're very compatible. We don't clash over stuff and we don't really argue. It's just a dynamic that's worked for so long that I don't even think about it anymore.

We still have to make an effort. I think in any long-term relationship you have to take time to show that you're not taking each other for granted. But we do that in small, thoughtful ways, like letting the other know we're thinking of them, and trying to make each other's lives better and easier.''

Girls Aloud beauty and solo star Kimberley Walsh has unveiled a series of stunning behind-the-scenes photographs from her new music video.

The song, 'One Day I'll Fly Away', features on her forthcoming solo album 'Centre Stage', which is due to be released on February 4, and for the track's video Walsh dressed in an old-Hollywood style while putting her dancing skills to use.

The images that have been shared were taken by Simon Wisbey and include shots of her being lifted into the air by a dance partner, posing in a stunning golden gown and standing in front of a dramatic lighting rig.

Back in December, Walsh explained the concept behind the album's cover art and said: "It's that whole story of a performer and all the stories you have to go through to get to that point of being on the stage. There's a lot going on right now but I am loving every minute and can't wait for people to hear these songs I've recorded."

She posted to fans: "No more Strictly Saturday guys :( Gonna have to curb my withdrawals with a few ball changes this eve I think... X (sic)."

Walsh also updated her followers on her festive plans.

She wrote: "Road trip up north to carry on the christmas festivities! Surely there's more chance of snow there?! #needtomakeasnowman (sic)."
