Kylie Minogue to perform 'Especially For You' duet

Kylie Minogue is set to team up with Jason Donovan to perform their classic duet 'Especially For You' later this month.

The pair, who released the song in 1988, were due to sing the track live for the first time at the Hit Factory Live event at London's Hyde Park in the summer.

However, it was cancelled due to poor weather and rescheduled to the O2 Arena on December 21.

The Official Charts Company reports that after speculation to the contrary, the pair will indeed sing the famous song at the new date.

Speaking recently about the duet to Yahoo, Minogue said:

"I feel like I have to do this. People are getting more and more desperate. They're like 'please, for the love of God can you just do it because we need it out of our system'."

Other acts playing the Pete Waterman event include Steps, Rick Astley and Bananarama.

Kylie Minogue: "Dole supported showbiz career"

Australian superstar Kylie Minogue signed on the dole to fund her showbiz dreams.

The pop princess is celebrating 25 years in the music industry after beginning her career as a child actress on Australian television.

Minogue knew she has to prepare herself for a tough journey when she started out in the entertainment world.

She told Elle magazine: “My parents didn’t push us but they supported us. I knew it wouldn’t be easy. When I left school I signed on the dole so I could focus on getting parts, I was prepared for the long haul and then almost straight away I got a part in Neighbours.”

Minogue is currently dating model Andrés Velencoso, and the 44-year-old has discussed her thoughts on becoming a mother one day.

She explained: “I do think about it. I’m still hopeful to have a family. But being an older woman, I’m realistic, you have to think about it, you can’t say you will or you won’t because ultimately it isn’t up to you.”

Kylie Minogue wanted fashion career

Kylie Minogue has revealed that she wanted to become a fashion designer.

The pop songstress initially found fame as an actress on Australian soap Neighbours in the mid 1980s before becoming an international music star.

However, she told website Very that at one point in her life, neither of those career routes were in her mind when growing up. The 'Timebomb' singer said:

"My Grandma taught me how to sew when I was young and I learnt to pattern cut and all of that. There was a time I would have loved to be a fashion designer but performing won in the end."

Minogue was also asked about how she manages to keep her image sharp and eye-catching, with collaboration the key ingredient. She replied:

"Teamwork! From the very beginning, working in television, I was part of a team. Everyone has their job to do and the show doesn't happen without every part of the machine working in harmony. I guess I carried this through with me and to this day I appreciate all the work my team do to help me shine."

Kylie Minogue: 'I'm working on a new album that will be more personal'

Pop icon Kylie Minogue has revealed that despite having only just released a new record, she has already started work on a brand new album.

She dropped 'The Abbey Road Sessions' earlier this week, but is showing no signs of slowing down as she recently told Yahoo! OMG that a new collection of songs is underway and they will be more 'personal':

"I have started work on the next album. Obviously this year has had me focused on other things but when I had a bit of time - actually in January, that long ago - I took my first steps into the studio."

"Next year will be the time to really get stuck in. I don't know studio-wise where [2013] will take me. I imagine it will be as always a mixture of songs I write and songs that come in that are killer tracks that I want."

She added that her new material will probably be dance infused, but with genuine lyrics: "I said earlier in the year that I would love the next album to embrace my inner Ibiza but I think most of them do anyway. It's been interesting this year with a song like 'Flower', which is such a personal song and so different to what people would expect from me."

"But the response to that has been amazing and people have really responded to it being a personal story so I'm keen to find a way where I could marry the two."

Pop icon Kylie Minogue has admitted that after she finishes a tour she often deals with periods of experiencing low moods.

Speaking to Britain's The Sunday Times Style magazine, the 'Spinning Around' superstar explained that it's a tough transition to go from being incredibly busy and performing every night to doing nothing and resuming an ordinary life:

"As a performer, it's go-go-go-go-go, then stop, and stay indoors and do nothing, almost have a mini-depression. You go from an adrenaline high of working and travelling and performing all the time, so when you stop you have this tension in your body from your adrenal glands pumping."

"(I want to) spend more time at cruising altitude... For the first time, my lungs can breathe, and I am expanding, broadening my horizons sideways, filled with new experiences, rather than just simply going forward on that treadmill. And it feels brilliant. It feels fantastic."

Meanwhile, Minogue's 'The Abbey Road Sessions' is out today (October 20) and is available on CD, as a digital download and on vinyl.

The Australian pop icon, who releases new album, 'The Abbey Road Sessions,' tomorrow, told Closer magazine she’s aware of her limitations as a singer:

"I will never sound like Christina Aguilera, but that's OK. I have pipes!"

However, the 44-year-old, who last week apologised to Pippa Middleton for challenging her to a bum-off, did reveal her annoyance at how some people think her job is easy:

Kylie apologised to Pippa Middleton for ‘bum-off’ challenge

Kylie Minogue has revealed that she apologised to Pippa Middleton after challenging her to a ‘bum-off’ competition.

The Australian pop icon jokingly threw down the gauntlet when she appeared on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man earlier this year, but she told the Daily Star that she then met the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister soon after:

“I met Pippa at the Jubilee just after I’d been on Alan Carr and joked about having a better bottom then her. We said ‘hi’, she was wearing one of my sister’s Project D dresses, which was lovely, we were chatting and then I just blurted out about our bums.

"She was very gracious and said I would win hands down but I’m not too sure about that.”

The 44-year-old, who this week revealed she may finally get to duet with Jason Donovan at December’s PWL gig, now insists that she no longer holds the world’s best bum crown:

“I think if there was a competition between me, Kim Kardashian and Pippa Middleton for best bum I would come third. I don’t know who would win out of those two girls but I’m just hanging in there. My glory days are definitely behind me, pardon the pun.

“I’m still surprised my bum is still news. I haven’t used a stunt bottom so far but it’s a good option for the future.”

Kylie Minogue: 'I bought a lavish house in LA and only slept there twice'

Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue has admitted that years ago she bought an expensive "grown up's playground" style house in California, but only stayed there a couple of times.

The 'All The Lovers' superstar told BBC Radio 2 that she went through a period of uncertainty regarding her career in 1999, and in order to cope with it she moved to the USA and purchased a property in Los Angeles although her time there was short-lived because things soon picked up again for her musically:

"It was so quiet for me that I thought, 'Maybe that's it?' So I bought a house in Los Angeles, because it was this weird middle ground - it wasn't Australia, It wasn't England, and it was fun, like a grown up's playground."

"So I bought this house and I must have stayed there twice and then I signed with Parlophone. Then, well ... Boom Parlophone and 'Spinning Around', let's just say I sold the house!"

Minogue added that while 'Spinning Around' helped get her back into the spotlight it was really the success of 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' that propelled her to international stardom:

"'Spinning Around' was a golden moment. It was the Millennium, it was back in the most shiny, exuberant way. Then with 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' on the next album, the sound, the video, this time it wasn't golden, it was ice cool, sharp and futuristic, and it took it to a new place, and with the reach of that song to another level."

Kylie Minogue: "I have days where I want to retire"

Kylie Minogue has admitted that she often thinks about quitting music.

The actress-turned-singer has had a lengthy career in pop and she has spent 2012 celebrating her 25th year in the industry.

Her 'K25' celebrations have seen a number of special events take place and Minogue is due to release 'The Abbey Road Sessions' on October 29.

Speaking to Digital Spy, the 'Flower' star said however that she's looking to have a "little breather" after this year is out. When asked if she will be taking a break in 2013, Minogue replied:

"All I know is there will be no K26! Of course I admire those women who still do it; Barbra Streisand, Dolly Parton are still making movies and still doing records. If that's to be then maybe that will happen. I do have days where I want to completely throw it in and retire."

She continued: "I just need a little breather. I'd love to do some more acting as I'm meeting these great independent directors now, which is fun. At the same time though, I'll be starting work on the next album - so it'll probably be much the same really!"

Kylie Minogue will duet with Jason Donovan if schedule permits

Kylie Minogue has admitted that she might not be able to reunite with Jason Donovan later this year due to her busy solo career.

The pair were originally due to team up in July after years apart to perform their track 'Especially For You' at the Hit Factory event in Hyde Park, but the show was cancelled due to bad weather.

The concert has now been rescheduled to December 21 at London's O2 Arena and Kylie told the Daily Star that she felt bad after the original show was shelved. She said:

"I really felt for people when it was cancelled; it was so touching, the level of excitement. I was like: 'Oh, someone's gone and got a bubble perm and [they] are all ready to go'. We did the rehearsal two days before and Jason and I looked at each other and realised we had never done ['Especially For You'] live as it was released back in the mime days of Top of the Pops. We have actually done it live three times in rehearsals, but that's it."

Minogue added, however, that her diary will have the final say on whether she will make the rescheduled concert. She said: "They've revamped the show and I've said: 'If I'm available, I'll be there.' If it doesn't happen now, it'll be something to look forward to. My schedule to the end of the year is making me cross-eyed - I'm all over the place."
