Liam Gallagher’s new band Beady Eye played their first gig last night at Glasgow’s Barrowlands.

The band came on stage shortly after 9pm and in typical Gallagher fashion Liam kept banter between songs to a minimum. The band made no reference to Oasis, playing only new material.

At one point Gallagher addressed the crowd, saying, “Right, I reckon it's time to get off the fence, yeah? Because I've seen a few of you sitting on it."

They finished their set with a cover of World of Twist’s ‘Sons of the Stage.’

Liam Gallagher critiques his contemporaries

Liam Gallagher has hit out at popular bands Radiohead and Mumford & Sons, criticizing their musical prowess and approach to their careers during an interview with The Quietus.

When asked how he felt about Mumford & Sons winning at the BRITs recently, the Beady Eye front man said:

"they were fucking ashamed about winning and that’s the fucking sad bit. 'Oh, we shouldn’t be here!' Then what did you join a fucking band for then? They bow their heads down going, 'Oh, we don’t deserve it' like a fucking dick."

After changing the subject to musical influences, Gallagher used Radiohead as an example of what he would never do:

"I heard that fucking Radiohead record and I just go, 'What?!' I like to think that what we do, we do fucking well. Them writing a song about a fucking tree? Give me a fucking break!"

"A thousand year old tree? Go fuck yourself! You’d have thought he’d have written a song about a modern tree or one that was planted last week. You know what I mean?"

Also speaking about the relationship with his brother Noel, he revealed that time is of the essence:

"I’m not sitting here for him to go, 'Oh, I’m going to do my solo career and you guys can wait for five years while I fucking lord it around and have it and then I’ll fucking ring you up if it doesn’t go as well as people expect it to be.' Fuck that! We’re gone! We’re out of here!"

The full interview is available on The Quietus' site, but you can watch Beady Eye's performance of 'Four Letter Word' live from Abbey Road Studios here:

If Oasis reformed it wouldn't be for money

Although Liam Gallagher recently claimed that Oasis is "well and truly done", he has now gone back on his word and replaced it with a less definitive remark.

The NME reports today, February 28, that when asked again about the possibility of an Oasis reunion at some point in the future, Gallagher said:

"I'm not going to say 'never', but at the moment no fucking chance."

"But it wouldn't be for money, mate. I like to think that if we did get back together - which we fucking won't - but if we did then it would be for the fans. It would be for the people and the music and not for fucking money."

Beady Eye released its debut album, 'Different Gear, Still Speeding', in the UK today and you can watch them perform 'The Roller' live from Abbey Road Studios here:

Liam Gallagher talks Oasis split

Liam Gallagher has shed some more light on why Oasis disbanded in August 2009.

“Me and our kid [Noel] were to blame for the split of Oasis,” he tells The Guardian, before adding that it was more Noel’s fault than his. “Noel was removing himself from the band, travelling separately. He didn’t like people standing up to him. So he grabs the ball and does a f***ing runner.”

Liam’s new band, Beady Eye, releases their debut album ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’ on February 28th.

It seems Liam Gallagher is taking his role as the face of dog charity Pup Aid very seriously.

The Beady Eye front man has revealed in an interview that he would become the saviour of the sausage dog, should the breed be in danger of extinction. Gallagher and wife Nicole Appleton have one of the dogs, called Ruby.

At the suggestion that the dachshunds may one day disappear, Liam said: "Extinction of sausage dogs? I will prevent that! When I'm back in England I am gonna buy 900 of them. I am gonna prevent them from downfall."

Liam's band Beady Eye is planning on breaking America and are currently gearing up for a tour of the US starting in LA.

Noel "suppressed" Liam for his own good

Beady Eye guitarist Gem Archer believes that former Oasis bandmate Noel Gallagher “suppressed” his brother Liam – but that it was for Liam’s own good.

Speaking to Q Magazine, Archer explained that Noel may have restricted his younger sibling, but this could have likely kept the more boisterous brother from becoming a victim of himself.

"Did Noel suppress Liam? Course he has,” explained Gem. “Not all his life. But look, in some ways, with Noel, the best thing has been suppressing him. Because Liam could have really f***ed his own life up.

"It's so not simple, they're both the real deal. I ended up in the middle of two of the biggest forces in rock 'n' roll. So I do my best. Liam ain't a monster. And neither is Noel."

When asked about what’s changed since Noel’s departure, Gem said: "What would happen if Noel was here? Well, nobody is assuming the Noel role of, 'You shouldn't be drinking tonight' so Liam would probably still be out at midnight, just to prove a point."

Beady Eye or nothing for Liam Gallagher

Liam Gallagher has revealed that if it wasn't for his new project, Beady Eye, he probably would have turned away from music.

A solo career is something the front man wouldn't have pursued as he told the latest issue of NME:

"There was never any question about me going on with Gem [Archer],Andy [Bell] and Chris [Sharrock]," he said. Without them, I wouldn't be in a band. I'd probably got stuck into doing the Pretty Green gear, chilled out for a bit."

He also added:

"I'd just be designing clothes if it wasn't for Beady Eye."

His new band have been confirmed to perform at 2011's Isle of Wight festival and you can check out their new track, 'Four Letter Word', here:
