Half a million fans predicted to miss out on One Direction tickets

Ahead of this Saturday’s ticket rush for One Direction’s ‘Where We Are’ tour, top ticket agency Viagogo claim that over 500,000 fans are likely to miss out due to the high demand.

Tickets for the tour are due to go on sale this weekend on May 25th at 9am, but the site says that demand has already been overwhelming.

A Viagogo spokesman said their data shows “over a million ticket searches by fans from Bradford to Beijing.”

They added: "With just four UK dates and an average of 66,500 tickets available per performance, the site is predicting that over half a million fans will be left empty handed at the box office.

"If everyone who has searched for a ticket so far were successful, Wembley stadium would be filled 14 times over."

The tour already has four UK and two Irish dates scheduled in 2014 as well as several across South America. Niall Horan recently took to Twitter and revealed that more are sure to come.

Renowned folk musician Steve Bonham starts his Get Your Boots On Tour - May 25th 2013

Following the well-received launch of Steve Bonham’s single Steady at Bellingham’s Mini BAA festival, renowned folk singer Steve is getting his boots on ready for a musical odyssey along Hadrian’s Wall. Steve’s unique take on the tradition of travelling musicians will see him walk from gig to gig along the 85 miles of the spectacular Hadrian’s Wall Path.

The tour kicks off at Ireby Music Festival on Saturday 25th May followed by the first leg of the walk from Cumbria arriving at Heddon on the Wall, Northumberland on June 1st. Steve will then take the tour to Derby and Southwell Folk Festival before returning north for a grand finale at the Folkalpoint festival at The Sage Gateshead on November 30th 2013.

The tour has been inspired by Steve’s long term musical buddy Tim, who developed the neurological condition ataxia which curtailed his ability to perform. Steve wrote and recorded the song Steady, which features Stephen Doherty’s hauntingly beautiful whistle-playing, to raise awareness of ataxia and to support the charity Ataxia UK’s 2020 campaign to find a cure.

Ataxia is a progressive neurological disorder for which there is no cure. It affects motor co-ordination, walking, vision and speech. There are 10,000 adults with the condition in the UK and it can affect any age group including children. Ataxia UK supports people affected by the condition as well as funding vital research into finding a cure. www.ataxia.org.uk/

Steve Bonham says “I want to do something about this ataxia thing and I want to make more people aware of it - so people don’t think those affected are drunk or stupid. I want people to see beyond the stumble and the uncertainty to the still strong person within. And I want to raise some dosh so that good research by clever people can go on.”

Steve will be show casing Steady along with songs from his 2012 critically acclaimed album ‘The Moon’s High Tide’ and some new pieces. He will be joined by the “Bishop” (keyboards, tuba and percussion) and special guests to create some exhilarating performances of contemporary folk music. Steve is a folk veteran and has collaborated with folk royalty such as ex-Saw Doctor Pearce Doherty, Jimmy Higgins (Irish band Altan) and Fairport Convention’s legendary Dave Pegg.

Steady is now available for free download with donations to Ataxia UK. http://www.stevebonham.net/steady or to view http://youtu.be/eHg-x4ubk3g

Rod Stewart's tour tickets outselling Rihanna's by 2 to 1

Tickets for crooner Rod Stewart's forthcoming UK tour are selling twice as fast as those of Rihanna, it has been confirmed.

Viagogo revealed that after Stewart's new album, entitled 'Time', went to No.1 over the weekend he experienced a 278% surge in ticket sales for his upcoming run of dates. Rihanna, meanwhile, isn't doing as well statistically as he is outselling her 2:1.

A spokesperson for the ticketing company, Steve Roest, explained: "Music legends like Rod Stewart will always generate high ticket demand and his upcoming tour is no different. It seems his recent album release has reminded fans that he’s still got it, as we’ve noticed a sudden rush for tickets to see him perform around the UK in June."

His 'Live the Life' tour will kick off on June 1 at Nottingham's Capital FM Arena and will take him around the country from London to Birmingham, before it comes to a close on June 29 with a performance in Dublin at the RDS Arena.

Wiz Khalifa promises to get theatrical at MTV Movie Awards

Rapper Wiz Khalifa has revealed his performance at tonight’s MTV Movie Awards will be more theatrical than his usual shows.

The 24-year-old, who will join fun. ft. Janelle Monae, Martin Solveig and The Black Keys as the event’s musical guests, told MTV News that he hopes his set will showcase a different side to his personality:

“My show is evolving and everything that I’m doing, so it’s going to be more themed.

“You know it’s for the movie thing so it’s going to be more theatrical, so people are going to see that side of it as well as me performing and giving my energy.”

The ‘Black and Yellow’ star, who last year made his acting debut in upcoming comedy Mac & Devin Go To High School, also admitted he wouldn’t mind if his performance helped him to land another movie role, adding: "That would be tight."
