Kelly Clarkson and Adam Lambert make top-earning 'American Idol' stars list

Vocal superstar Kelly Clarkson and 'Trespassing' hitmaker Adam Lambert are among the 'American Idol' graduates who have been named as the show's top-earning stars of 2012.

Forbes magazine compiled a list (January 30) of the programme's contestants who earned the most throughout the past twelve months and Clarkson, who was the first 'American Idol' winner back in 2002, was at the top after taking home a cool $8 million (£5 million).

Country songstress Carrie Underwood and rocker Daughtry came in joint second with earnings of $5 million apiece, and season 10's winner Scotty McCreery is No.4 with $4 million.

Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks also make appearances in the Top 10, and powerhouse Adam Lambert was named seventh with $1.5 million. Forbes writes of his success:

"Extensive touring pushed this fan-favorite toward the top of last year’s list with $6 million in earnings. Lambert played fewer shows this time around, taking off to record new album 'Trespassing', which was released after the end of our scoring period (and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts with 78,000 copies sold its first week). Look for him to finish higher on next year’s list, thanks to that album and a new tour."

Whitney Houston's brother: 'I feel responsible for introducing Whitney to drugs'

The brother of the late Whitney Houston has confessed that he feels to blame for her drug problem.

Michael recently appeared on Oprah’s Next Chapter and opened up about how he was partly responsible for introducing the singer to drugs when they were in their 20s and started to become wealthy:

"You've got to understand, at the time, the 80s, it was acceptable. We were in our 20s, we were young, on the road, we had money.”

He continued: “It’s painful. I feel responsible for what I let go so far. She would always tell me, ‘Don’t ever let anyone make you feel any way. I’m a grown woman, and I’m gonna (sic) do what I want.'"

Houston died on February 11, 2012 after her body was found submerged in water at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California. Her mother, Cissy, spoke out about her daughter's death to People magazine and questioned her own parenting skills:

"Was I a good mother? I still wonder if I could have saved her somehow. But there's no book written on how to be a parent. You do the best you can."

Fashion sensation and Spice Girls member Victoria Beckham has spoken out about her role in the pop group and admitted that she's always concerned she is the fans' least favourite member.

In a new interview with Elle magazine, the singer and designer explained that when the 'Wannabe' superstars reunited for the Olympic event last year she couldn't shake the feeling of worrying about her popularity compared to that of the other girls:

"When I was on stage with the Spice Girls, I thought people were there to see the other four and not me. And when I go out with David and people take pictures I think, 'They're here to take David's picture'."

Beckham, who modelled for an accompanying photoshoot (images shown below), also spoke about the success of her career and added that she's always had a strong work ethic and puts every effort into achieving her goals:

""It was never my intention to prove anybody wrong. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. I don't have to work, I need to work. All these people [her fellow fashion designers], they've not just been given anything. They've worked hard. And I've never been given anything either."

"But I have a good work ethic; David has an incredible work ethic. I want my kids to have a good work ethic. I believe you can achieve anything if you work hard enough to get it."

'True Colours' superstar Cyndi Lauper has credited her independent attitude for her career's longevity in a new interview.

When asked by Parade magazine why she thinks she is still successful, Lauper explained that not following trends helps and she enjoys doing her own thing without taking direction:

"I don't think it's a secret: I never stopped [recording]. When people told me you can't do this or that, I would just do it. I didn't think there was another choice for me."

The songstress, who recently performed with Adam Lambert at the Home For The Holidays concert (shown below), added that not being conventional has always been on her side and admitted that her look is also something she puts together herself:

"I always liked that salmon-pink hair colour; I still use it. And I loved the retro-glam look, but I wanted to make it my own, so I wore high heels and pedal pushers, which nobody was really wearing at the time. I'm obsessed with fashion."

Feisty pop sensation P!nk has admitted that her relationship with her husband is fantastic until he listens too closely to her songs.

She often uses motocross star Carey Hart as inspiration for her songwriting and joked that they get along really well, but tension can arise when he pays too much attention to what she is saying:

"He's like, 'Look, I know you, we have a good sense of humour and I know what I signed up for. I only listen to half of what you say anyway. When he starts listening to be too much we have problems."

She also spoke to People magazine about getting older and confessed that she gets much worse hangovers now than ever before: "I used to be able to drink a bottle of wine and not get a hangover. Now, after two glasses I have a headache."

When asked if she has a successful hangover cure that she uses, P!nk added: "Drink a beer as soon as possible."

Cissy Houston, the 79-year-old mother of the late singer, has admitted that the death of her beloved daughter Whitney has left her wondering if she could have saved her life or done more to help.

She spoke exclusively to People magazine, which will come out on Friday of this week, and explained that she can't help but wonder about her parenting skills after Whitney (48) was found dead in a bath tub back in 2012:

"Was I a good mother? I still wonder if I could have saved her somehow. But there's no book written on how to be a parent. You do the best you can."

Cissy also spent time during the interview promoting her upcoming memoir, entitled 'Remembering Whitney', and shared some excerpts from it: "I had no idea about Nippy's 'partying.' And the truth is, back then I didn't really want to know about it."

She even told People that she's concerned that Whitney's daughter, Bobbi, might meet the same fate and said she is "trying to make sure she doesn't (follow the same path)".

She was recently photographed for Le Figaro madame magazine and in the accompanying interview, Del Rey explained that while she loves music she wants to focus her attention on helping those in need:

"Music was my passion, but my work with this foundation is more important. I myself had the chance to be [helped by an establishment]. Helping others now feels like it's my turn to give something back. I want to become a sort of Angelina Jolie."

"Like her, I think fame is nothing in itself, but it can be put to good use - by using it to generate money for charity for example."

She also opened up about how she began drinking when she just 14 and added: "When you no longer drink, it is more difficult to celebrate. In fact, when I quit drinking, I lost my life. It took my all to reinvent myself. Find the roots. It was very difficult. At the same time, I had never felt rooted in whatever I've done or wherever I've been since."

During her recent photo shoot for Complex magazine, the 'Where Have You Been' beauty took the artistic direction into her own hands and was filmed snapping 'selfies' on both a camera and laptop.

She explained that being in control of what's shown on camera is empowering and she likes to photograph herself because she can do her own thing: "It's narcissistic, but whatever. Everyone does it. I'm capturing personality. Everybody has their thing they like or don't like to see."

She added: "It's all in your head. That's why people take their own pictures, because it's difficult for someone else to capture what you seek."

Rihanna also refused to discuss her collaboration with Chris Brown, on 'Nobody's Business', during the interview and explained that all people need to know about it is that it's just "the truth".

"When a girl first gets with a boy, that kind of romance makes you feel really giddy and happy. That's what DNA is about...Everything on the album is about our own experiences. We perform better when the lyrics mean something to us when we sing them."
