There has been speculation about the 27-year-old star's mental wellbeing, after making a string of headlines over the past few months.

As well as being arrested for marijuana possession and briefly placed in a psychiatric hospital, Bynes has used Twitter to post rude comments about a number of stars including Drake, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus.

Cannon - who once considered the star a "little sister" - has revealed he is worried about her.

Speaking to Howard Stern on his radio show on Tuesday the America's Got Talent Host said: ''I worked on Amanda's show when she had her show. To see someone you'd seen at nine, running around with a snotty nose, and now to see her like that is like, 'Wow, man! That's sad.'''

Cannon - who is married to international songstress Mariah Carey - said he "tried to reach out" to Bynes without any luck.

He added: “That’s the thing she doesn’t have any of her people anymore.”

During an interview with Rolling Stone, the beauty explained that as she is maturing as a woman she is exposed to different behaviours and experiences that change her opinion on things:

"I did a song with Snoop Dogg called 'Ashtrays and Heartbreaks,' so people can put it together for themselves. I think alcohol is way more dangerous than marijuana – people can be mad at me for saying that, but I don't care. I've seen a lot of people spiral down with alcohol, but I've never seen that happen with weed."

Despite not admitting to using the drug herself, she did confess that she's glad it's not illegal in the state she currently lives in:

"As long as it isn't illegal, there are far more dangerous things. And it's legal in the state of California. So I'm happy to live in California, a place where you can be whoever you want to be."

There has been speculation about the 27-year-old star's mental wellbeing, after making a string of headlines over the past few months.

As well as being arrested for marijuana possession and briefly placed in a psychiatric hospital, Bynes has used Twitter to post rude comments about a number of stars including Drake, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus.

Drake is usually at the centre of her online rants, with the songstress labelling the rap star as "ugly".

She has now taken to the social networking site to call a truce - despite Drake never responding to the tweets.

She wrote: "I'm sorry about the tweets I said about @drake I didn't mean what I said. I hope to become friends with him instead of smashing him! (sic)."

Cyrus recently told a US radio station she didn't want to feud with Bynes after she also called the singer "ugly".

She explained: "I won't even entertain that thought. I think it's all so sad and I don't want to add any fuel to that fire. It's so sad to me. I was rooting for her comeback until she started attacking me, and I just thought it was hilarious that she mentioned my name the moment I was the worldwide trending topic on Twitter."

Bynes responded to Cyrus' comments, writing: "Thank you for rooting for me doll! You are one of the prettiest girls! I want my nose to look like yours after my surgeries! (sic)."

The lads have been sunning it up in style in Miami as they begin the North American leg of their Take Me Home tour.

They were pictured on board a private yacht but a photo of Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik seemingly puffing away has particularly attracted interest.

It appears as if Tomlinson is smoking a marijuana spliff, with another 'joint' seen on a table in front of him.

Bandmate Zayn Malik is also in the image and whilst it looks as if he is also smoking, it is unclear what he is using.

The photo has since caused a fuss on social networking website Twitter, with One Direction fans seemingly split on the alleged recreational activity.

One user said: "I'm not gonna lie. I'm going to be be a lot less effected if Louis was smoking pot than if he was smoking a cigarette."

Another fan commented: "Half my tl is encouraging louis & zayn smoking pot and the other half is doing the exact opposite."

It was reported that Bieber's bus was searched by Swedish police yesterday (Wednesday, April 24) after an officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A spokesperson from the Swedish police force issued a statement on the story, confirming:

"The police went onto the bus and searched it and found a small amount of narcotics. We don't know who had the drugs or who smoked them, so it will be hard to link them with any individual."

Now, the 'Boyfriend' hitmaker has taken to his official Twitter page to slam 'rumours' that he claims to be purely sensational, writing: "Some of the rumors about me....where do people even get this stuff. whatever...back to the music."

Bieber's fans were quick to rush to his defense with one writing, "rumors arent important, your Beliebers believe in you, not believe in rumors," and another adding, "they're just jealous of your talent Justin, don't forget that."

The singer's previous Twitter and Instagram posts have suggested that the singer isn't averse to using the drug.

Whilst some other stars, such as Adam Lambert, have been paying tribute to their loved ones on Valentine's Day, Rihanna has taken to Instagram to show her love for marijuana.

She posted an image of smoke along with the text: "Mary Jane will be my Valentine".

Her accompanying tweet about the photo reads: "Love me...I'm #DOPE."

As previously reported, Rihanna was snapped looking cosy with Chris Brown at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 10).

It was yet another indication that the 'Unapologetic' singer has reconciled with the controversial singer after he assaulted her in 2009 when she was his girlfriend.

The star, who recently won two Golden Globes for her TV show, was interviewed by Alec Baldwin for his radio show 'Here's The Thing' and explained that the Bajan superstar is setting a bad example for both young girls and her fans:

"[Fame is] an amazing thing and it's a platform that you have to take seriously. I used to be really into Rihanna, that popstar, and then it's like - again, I don't want to ever throw stones from my glass house - but I follow her on Instagram and I just think about how many little girls beyond what I could even comprehend are obsessed with Rihanna."

"Like, you know, she left Barbados, she's had this amazing career, she's won a Grammy... She's talented. And then she gets back together with Chris Brown and posts a million pictures of them smoking marijuana together on a bed (pictured below). And it cracks my heart in half in a way that makes me feel like I'm 95 years old."

Dunham added that her own recent rise to fame has made her very aware of what she says in public and how she acts, because she is in a position to influence others: "[I] had to become more conscious about what I say and what I promote, not in a way that stifles me, but just in a way where I realise now that there are 17-year-old girls who come up to me and tell me that the show means a lot to them."

Speaking to the Rolling Stone magazine, the hip-hop star explained that their shared love of smoking marijuana keeps them close:

"Rihanna is a pothead and so am I, so we're real cool. Weed is going to bring us together as a generation. Drugs is what created Woodstock. Let's be clear about that."

He also spoke about Skrillex and admitted that he loves to watch him live because of the atmosphere he creates with his dubstep sets:

"I love going to his shows. It's like a rave every time. Everyone goes crazy."

The trending topic '#cutforBieber' made its way around the social networking site and encouraged fans to self-harm in an attempt to get the 'Boyfriend' singer to change his supposed bad boy ways.

Now, a British charity for youth mental health named YoungMinds has issued a statement on how dangerous a suggestion like this can be, especially on the internet where nothing is moderated and the audience can be easily influenced:

"Self harming is not a fashion, fad or statement. It's a signal that young people are experiencing extreme distress and need help. Cutting is a self-destructive act that is a way of coping with overwhelming emotions."

"To suggest young people cut themselves as some kind of protest is a very perverted and dangerous idea, and these people need to take responsibility and stop this activity immediately."

The singer played the Dutch city on Monday night (September 17) and it appears she decided to smoke some of the drug whilst sitting down on the stage after being given it by a fan.

Holland's laws are famously relaxed when it comes to the consumption of marijuana and Gaga told fans that the drug has "changed her life". She said:

"I want you to know it has totally changed my life and I've really cut down on drinking. It has been a totally spiritual experience for me with my music."

She added that the drug's leaf symbol is like the new peace sign, saying:

"It's like saying everybody needs to take a breath and it's going to be OK."

The 'Born This Way' singer also wore a top with a graphic of the leaf symbols.

The troubled Irish singer, who releases her ninth studio album, 'How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?' next week, admitted in an interview with Word magazine that her four children, Jake, 24, Roisine, 15, Shane, 7 and Yeshua, 5, are unaware of their mother’s use of the drug:

''Oh the kids don't know I smoke dope! I just sneak down the garden. But kids now, they're very anti-drink and drugs and cigarettes.''

However, the 45-year-old, who recently announced and then retracted a divorce from her newly-wed husband Barry Herridge, confessed that she is much stricter when it comes to her children and drugs:

''With the older one and his mates, yeah, they were smoking dope but they were 18, 19. And I was more worried they'd be out getting arrested. Which has happened.

''So I just said, 'I'm going to pretend I didn't see it and just go down the garden and don't get arrested.' But now I wouldn't allow it. With teenagers you can lose them like that, down a tunnel.''

The 21-year-old 'Crank That' star was detained last night for marijuana and gun possession and was held with four other men. They were later released after posting a bail bond, but Soulja Boy soon took to his Twitter account to update his fans on the situation:

"Thank you and I'm sorry. Love you forever, seeing your letters and you standing outside that jail made me feel the love. My fans r the best... I missed 10 interviews today for my new movie! To those companies I'm sorry!"

"You can see I had a lil situation. The show must go on... Aye can I have a real n**ga moment? My fans was deep as f**k outside that jail man I'm sorry!!! That's love!"

He was due to spend time promoting the DVD release of his film, 'Soulja Boy The Movie', for which you can watch the trailer below:

Nelson was arrested last November under suspicion of possessing marijuana after a member of Border Patrol staff smelled the drug during a search of the singer’s tour bus.

Nelson reportedly struck a deal which allowed him to plead no contest to a reduced charge and pay a $500 fine on top of $280 in court costs.

However, Judge Becky Dean-Walker changed her mind after signing the deal, scratching her name out, because she didn’t want to let Nelson off light.

Dean-Walker explains, "I'm not going to be guilty of signing something because someone is a celebrity... Everybody should be treated the same in my court."

In a new interview with Playboy magazine, the 'SexyBack' star was quizzed about his use of marijuana and when asked if he still smoked it, replied:

"Absolutely"

"The only thing pot does for me is it gets me to stop thinking. Sometimes I have a brain that needs to be turned off. Some people are just better high."

He also spoke about his days as a Mousketeer and admitted that although there was never any real debauchery that went on behind-the-scenes of the Mickey Mouse Club, he and fellow actor Ryan Gosling had a particular eventful day after they skipped school together:

"Ryan and I were partners in crime on that show, and I remember one time we skipped school, took a golf cart and rode to the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids set. We got milk shakes. Those are the kinds of badasses we were."
