Wednesday 19th June – Jack Johnson announces fall headline tour dates in support of his sixth studio album, From Here To Now To You, to be released on September 17 through Johnson’s own Brushfire Records. Johnson and his band will kick off their tour in Europe on September 5, and return to the States with a headline performance at Life is good Festival on September 22 in Canton, MA. From there, inspired by his solo acoustic Hawaiian Islands Theater Tour last year, Johnson will play some of the most beautiful and intimate seated theatres in North America including Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Seattle’s Paramount Theatre and the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. As Johnson told Rolling Stone about his 2012 Hawaiian Islands Tour: "They were the most magical shows," he says. "It gave you the time to tell stories and where the songs came from. I really enjoyed that. I think we're going to mix it up next year with different types of tours, but at least for a lot of it, we're going to try to do some theaters." With 25 of his 28 fall tour venues in historic theaters, Johnson is doing just that. As with all of his tours since 2008, Johnson will donate 100% of his tour profits to charity.  

Tickets for Jack Johnson’s upcoming fall tour of North America in support of From Here To Now To You will be available exclusively through a lottery on www.jackjohnsonmusic.com allowing fans a fair shot at getting a ticket to these intimate theater shows. For the fall tour, Johnson and his production team, alongside Reverb, will continue to pave the way in green touring practices and community engagement initiatives. Tour vehicles will be fueled by domestic sustainable biodiesel wherever possible, concertgoers will be offered mass transportation options, waste reduction measures will be expanded and single-use disposable water bottles will continue to be eliminated backstage. Sunday 16 June 2013: Download Festival - THE biggest weekend in the rock calendar - took place this weekend as 90,000 people rocked out in Donington Park to headliners Slipknot, Iron Maiden and Rammstein plus a host of other bands across the weekend. 

Crowds of rock fans packed out Donington Park as the opening day of Download saw Asking Alexandria, Papa Roach, Architects, Korn, Bullet for My Valentine all perform mind blowing sets throughout the day, while bands like Fearless Vampire Killers, Fidlar and The Algorithm ripped up the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Stage. 

Slipknot had Donington in the palm of their hand as they opened their set with ‘Distasterpiece’ before launching into ‘Liberate’, ‘Wait and Bleed’, ‘Before I Forget’ and ‘Psychosocial’. A moment that will go down in Download history followed when 90,000 people knelt down on Donignton’s sacred ground before “jumping the fuck up” during a raging rendition of ‘Spit It Out’. 

Saturday’s epic lineup saw Queens of the Stone Age make their Download debut as the sun beamed down on the home of rock, while Motorhead, Alice In Chains, Mastodon, Enter Shikari, Jimmy Eat World, The Hives, Kvelertak and many more all played blinding sets. 

A Spitfire circled Donington Park before Iron Maiden burst onto stage with their headline set bringing the Maiden England tour to the festival marking 25 years since the band first headlined Donington Park. The set included ‘Run To The Hills’, ‘Fear of the Dark’, ‘The Number of the Beast’ and an encore of ‘Aces High’, ‘The Evil That Men Do’ and ‘Running Free’. 

The closing day of Download has already seen crowds roaring with sets from Coal Chamber, Five Finger Death Punch, Parkway Drive, with Limp Bizkit, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Gaslight Anthem, A Day To Remember and many more still to come. And of course everyone is gearing up for a stunning set from tonight’s headliners Rammstein, who will close the festival with a set that’s sure to contend for rock show of the year. 

Download Festival promoter Andy Copping commented: “It’s been an amazing weekend. We’ve had over 150 bands across five stages and a trio of ground breaking, world class headliners. Having Iron Maiden back 25 years after they first headlined Donington was an incredible moment. Slipknot as usual delivered an unforgettable set, and Rammstein tonight will be the first time the band have played Donington.” 

Other activity on site included The Red Bull Studios live at Download, which  culminated in an exciting series of sets from some of the UK's hottest emerging bands. Croydon trio Press To Meco were met with a raucous overspilling tent whilst Aberdeen four piece Semperfi had the electric crowds shouting back their lyrics.  The highlight for fellow Aberdeen cohorts Akord was undoubtedly accepting an impromptu invite to play on the main stage during Down's set to a 70k strong crowd. Having previously nurtured the cream of new rock talent such as Radio 1 favourites Don Broco, Red Bull Studios will no doubt be seeing this year's alumni on bigger stages very soon. Fans don’t need to be too down about the fact that the weekend is almost over, as festival organisers announce the dates for next year and a special early bird offer as a thank you to fans. Ticketmaster has discovered that metal and rock fans are amongst the most loyal there are. Research conducted by Ticketmaster’s LiveAnalytics team has revealed that attendees of Download, the UK’s premier rock festival, were much more likely to be returning after a previous visit than at an average festival. Loyalty is increasing significantly year on year, with 27% of this year’s festival goers returning after attending last year, growing steadily from 20% in 2012 and 13% in 2011, to this year’s all-time high. 

‘Our findings suggest that metal and rock fans simply can’t resist the lure of their favourite bands: and with a line up including Slipknot, Iron Maiden and Rammstein, who can blame them?’ – Sophie Crosby, VP of Insight, Ticketmaster International.

Once famously described as ‘licentious, festering reprobates’ and ‘leprous anti-establishment scumbags’ and banned from playing in their home country, it’s difficult to overestimate the shock and awe The Boomtown Rats inspired in late 70s Ireland.  The Rats set out to “disrupt, disturb and question what it meant to be young in the Ireland of the mid-70s”. 

Formed in 1975 in Dublin The Boomtown Rats exploded out of Ireland in ’76 and their fast, loud, furious music and their fast loud furious attitude meant they became part of the burgeoning punk scene. Singer Bob Geldof’s defiant motormouth arrogance and flagrant disrespect for authority endeared him and his band to every youth who felt weighed down by the heavy handed blandishments of church and state.  In the UK The Boomtown Rats first toured with the Ramones and Talking Heads rocking and mocking the status quo alongside the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Jam and The Stranglers. They became one of the biggest bands of the late 70s/80s with a string of top ten hits and platinum albums, earning them Brit Awards, Ivor Novellos and Grammy Awards.  Making history as the first Irish band to have a UK no 1 hit with ‘Rat Trap’, they went on to top the charts in 32 Countries with ‘I Don't Like Mondays’ and racked up 6 era-defining albums: ‘The Boomtown Rats’ (’77), ‘A Tonic For The Troops’ (’78), ‘The Fine Art Of Surfacing’ (’79), ‘Mondo Bongo’ (’80), ‘V Deep’ (’82) and ‘In The Long Grass’ (’84).  

Says Bob: “_age,curiosity and cash prompted our interest in getting together again. Age and cash are self evident. Curiosity about each other and what we did together in the '70' and 80's.  Curiosity about those songs that seem to have endured and the music and band that powered them.  When I sang again Rat Trap,Looking After No 1, Mondays, Someone's Looking At You, Banana Republic, She's So Modern etc, there was nothing I would change.  On re-hearing, on re-singing them I understood that they could have been written yesterday. the circumstances within which they were written hadn't changed. Tragically and unfortunately.I could sing those words with utter conviction. This isn't nostalgia rather perhaps a time to be angry again.  A time to hear a great band like The Boomtown Rats again. If only for a short while...”

Having co-written many of the songs on his album, TreVante' has had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the industry’s elite producers and writers including Chris Brown, Rodney Jerkins, Diane Warren, Mischke, August, Tank, Troy Taylor and Rico Love.  His first mainstream success came from the single “Be My Girl” which peaked at #3 on BET: 106 & Park and landed him on BET’s “Closer to My Dreams” Tour along with Diggy Simmons, Mindless Behavior and Tyga.  The song was followed up by “Be Your First” which was written and produced by Tank, and landed him a performance on the “Wendy Williams Show”.

TreVante‘s first official single is “Bad Girl”, featuring Lil Twist (YMCMB).  This up-tempo club-banger is radio friendly and sure to climb the video charts.  TreVante‘s debut album, tentatively titled ‘I Am TreVante', is tentatively slated for release this fall through Imani Records, LLC.                   

Having sold over 60 million records worldwide, toured across the globe, notched up four number No. 1 world-wide singles, over 40 Top 40 UK singles, released 24 studio albums and received an Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement, Ali Campbell's UB40 are without doubt the sound of a generation.

Summer 2013 music festival.

Groove is a brand new music festival taking place on July 6th & 7th 2013. The festival is set in the stunning Killruddery Estate  between Bray and Greystones, right on the doorstep of Dublin city. It aims to be a hassle free festival with an impressive line-up across soul, funk, roots, R&B and rock & roll. Groove music festival is brought to you by Cable Music. 

Main stage headliners

With the picturesque backdrop of the Wicklow Mountains and Killruddery House plus its stunning gardens, the Main Stage at Groove will offer the one of the most spectacular concert settings in the country. Over the weekend there will be 30+ acts performing across the festival but to kick off we can announce the following headline acts.

Saturday 6th July 2013 - James Morrison supported by Soul II Soul Sound System (further line up to follow)- James' first two albums have combined sales of over 4.5million copies! Previously James has sold out Dublin's O2 along with three nights at The Olympia Theatre. His third album "The Awakening" was released in 2012. Supporting James at Groove will be Jazzie B and the Soul II Soul Sound System.

Sunday 7th July 2013 - Imelda May supported by Damien Dempsey (further line up to follow)- her only concert in the eastern region for summer 2013! Without doubt Imelda is Ireland's sweetheart, her album "Mayhem" has been certified triple platinum in Ireland. Imelda will be supported by fellow Dubliner, Damien Dempsey, whose latest album "Almighty Love", hit the Top 3 in the Irish album charts in 2012.

So what is different about Groove?

• Food Without doubt good food is one of the key things that makes a festival enjoyable. The food available at Groove will be a little different and Master Chef John Coughlan will be putting on something very special. From hog roast to a sit down tapas bar, Asian food to coffee and cakes, this will be a festival for the taste buds as much as the ears!
• Diversity Tent Groove’s charitable partner VSO is the world’s leading volunteer sending organisation. VSO will be creating a special education and diversity area at Groove showcasing its work and acknowledging the impact Irish volunteers make on a placement with VSO. To learn more about VSO - click here
• Kids Every adult can bring one child under 12 for free – Click here for details. With some great activities lined up, the Groove kids zone will be an exciting and safe place for kids.

Getting There

DART: Bray Dart station is less than 3km away and there will be a fleet of shuttle buses running all day with a return shuttle ticket only €3. The festival ends at 10.30pm, to cater for this Irish Rail have put on a special northbound Groove DART at 12.05am.

Car: Killruddery Estate is just off the N11 at Exit 7, just a few minutes outside of Dublin between Bray and Greystones. There will be two fully paved and attended car parks just outside the Estate. Parking is free, but Groove's charitable partner VSO will be running these, so we are politely asking for €3 for the day for a good cause.

Dublin Bus: There’s a load of bus routes going to and from Bray and they run late – 45A, 84, 145, 184, 185. Check out all the routes - Click here

Taxis: There will be taxis available at the main gate at the end of the concert.

Produced and mixed by Tristan Ivemy (Frank Turner, Holloways etc), The Heartbreaks latest offering is out February 4th and features a selection of newly recorded material with strings arranged by the legendary James Banbury of The Auteurs (U2, Depeche Mode, Bloc Party etc.)

Matthew, vocalist of The Heartbreaks explains the motive of the new release, “We’ve always had a kind of intrinsic sense of drama, but with the addition of strings we were able to truly articulate a feeling of being widescreen, cinematic. Rather than merely ‘sounding big’, we wanted to make music that, like those great Scott Walker, REM and Bunnymen records, was melodic, bold, elegiac... Something conceptual that would, even if just for an EP, take our music beyond its usual guitar and bass sound”.

James Branbury, who himself as part of The Auteurs in 1993 released the seminal ‘Live Acoustic EP’ speaks of the new version of ‘Hand Of Heart’, “A great, emotional song. The build at the end is a tingling moment - always a good reaction when you're working on a track and hearing it over and over again.

Having toured the UK in support of their debut album, ‘Funtimes’, hit a number of summer festivals, and played a series of hysterically received shows in Japan, following a number one airplay single in ‘Delay, Delay’, the Morecambe four piece will be heading back to Japan in December for more live dates, before heading to Europe early in 2013.

The app provides a mobile platform for all genres of music to be HEARD, CRITIQUED, and PROMOTED. Musicians can use the app to submit songs which will be featured throughout the week. Featured songs then compete for "Likes" from the NervEight user base.
