The superstar attended the The Human Rights Campaign's annual gala dinner in Atlanta, Georgia on May 4 and was presented with the Ally Award at the event for "his outspoken support of equality for the LGBT community".

The Ally Award is given to an individual outside of the LGBT community who fights for the equality of all people and writing about the honour on his official Twitter page, the heartthrob thanked his fellow 'Glee' castmember Jonathan Groff (who plays Jesse St. James on the show) for the prize:

"Big thank you to my pal, Jonathan Groff, for presenting me the Ally Award at the #HRC Gala in Atlanta!"

On June 4, Morrison will release a new album full of Broadway classics covers and the record will be titled 'Where It All Began'.

The singer and actor is set to unveil the offering, entitled 'Where It All Began', on June 4 through Adam Levine's label, 222 Records. His debut album, which was self-titled, was released back in May 2011.

Speaking about the upcoming release, the star explained that it's been a dream of his to record a collection of standards so he can't wait to share it with his fans: "I enjoyed the journey back to my roots on this new album. This is the album I’ve always wanted to make, and I am looking forward to sharing the experience with everyone."

'Where It All Began' will feature 12 tracks, including covers of 'The Lady Is A Tramp', 'Singin' In The Rain', and 'Luck Be A Lady', which he recorded at Capitol Studios. The full tracklisting is as follows:

The 33-year-old, who is best known for his role as teacher Will Schuester in the hit US musical series, told more! magazine that he is keen to take on the challenge of playing darker characters in the future:

''My dream role would be anything away from Mr. Schuester at this point.

''I really want to do something dark, like being a serial killer.''

However, the former Broadway actor, who stars in the new rom-com 'What To Expect When You’re Expecting,' went on to explain that he is still enjoying his time on the show that made him a global celebrity:

''We have a lot of input. Right now, we're getting towards the end of the season, and a lot of the kids are graduating so Will is sad. But he did just get engaged, so hopefully we'll see a wedding and maybe babies.

''I would love to see [Sir] Elton John on the show and have him start dating Sue Sylvester [Jane Lynch]!''

The 32-year-old actor and singer who plays Will Schuester in the hit series, says the only problem with being starkers is the fans that wait outside his home hoping to catch a glimpse of him.

Morrison says: "I love walking around naked in my house. Who doesn't? But when I walk by the window I have to make sure there's no-one outside."

He also revealed that his best friend on Glee is Jane Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester:

"She's become my best friend from the show, which is why our relationship works so well. Jane makes me laugh constantly. It's hard doing scenes with her as she'll throw in weird facial expressions that make me howl."

The strangest place anyone has ever recognised him was at a public urinal: "A guy came up to me and said 'Hey, what's up dude?'"

The actor has released his debut self-titled album, which he's since taken on tour, and admitted to Reveal magazine that Great Britain is one of his favourite places to visit:

"I love London and British women. I'm recognised here all the time and ladies are always nice. I get a lot of marriage proposals actually, which is sweet."

He also added that while he was in the country, he took time out of his busy press and performance schedule to visit co-star and friend, Gwyneth Paltrow:

"I met up with Gwyneth in London and had dinner with her. I know her kids, Apple and Moses, as they come to the 'Glee' set all the time. They're so cute and funny."

Speaking to the UK's Radio Times the star, who plays sexy teacher Mr. Schuester in the hit U.S musical series, explained that he's still "very frugal" with his finances despite his recent rise to fame:

"Yes, I am a household name, but for me it's just another job that I love doing. I still live like a starving actor, to be honest. I'm very frugal with money because I'm scared of losing my job, so I still have starving-actor mentality."

The singer and actor claims that he is never bothered when someone else wins an award he is up for, because he doesn’t see the accolades as being an accurate depiction of acting talent.

He said to Attitude magazine: "I get nominated for everything and never win.

"I honestly don't give a s**t about awards. Sure, I'd take an Emmy. Am I losing sleep over not having one? No.”

He added: "I always feel like awards are such a funny thing. I don't know what their purpose is apart from to drive publicity towards a television show or a film.

"How do you really, unless you're all doing the same part, judge who is better than who?"

Touching on the setbacks he's encountered with his own string of dates, the hunky 'Glee' teacher revealed that he will act as main support to two of America's most popular boy bands:

The 'Summer Rain' singer, who recently admitted his album's debut single was inspired by a real-life alfresco rendezvous, pits cooking and dancing as his two biggest skills and turn ons. Talking to the UK's Heat magazine, he explained:

"I'm kind of a homebody so it would involve cooking. I make this mean chicken enchilada. Not too spicy, it's just right."

"And I'm really into crockpotting right now. It's like a slow cooker, so you put food in it in the morning, like stews and it gets so soft and tender.

When asked about his perfect date scenario, he mused:

"So I'd probably cook for her. Cooking and conversation - the two Cs. And a bottle of wine - maybe a couple."

Food is often said to be the way to man's heart, but Morrison, who plays the foxy Mr. Schuester on 'Glee', prefers something a little more physical:

"Dancing is very sensual. It's someone expressing themselves through their body. I mean, I get turned on when I see women dance."

Speaking to AOL Music, the actor and singer who also plays Mr. Schuester on 'Glee' revealed that an x-rated rooftop rendezvous with an ex-girlfriend gave him the perfect subject matter for the raunchy track:

"I was living in New York in my early 20s and my girlfriend at the time and I were up on my apartment roof on 51st and 9th Ave. It was a beautiful summer day and it just all of a sudden started raining. We ran to go inside and we didn't quite make it inside. The moment just kind of took us and if my 16-year-old self knew I was going to have a moment like that in my life, he would be so stoked [laughs]."

He also showed great consideration for the old flame, adding:

"Yeah, I made sure she liked it before I put it on the album."
