Katy Perry's mother thankful for Russell Brand divorce

Katy Perry has revealed that her mother "thanks God" for the singer's divorce from Russell Brand.

The 'Teenage Dream' star and the British comic were married from 2010 until 2012, when their divorce was finalised.

The Sun, however, quotes the singer as saying that her mother, who is known for her religious beliefs, was pleased that they got divorced. She said:

"I thank God every day for having made us all the same way and I pray for anyone who fights for freedom of speech."

Perry is then said to have added: "I'm pro-gay marriage and want equality between genders. My mom thanks God every day for my divorce."

The US star meanwhile recently performed live with The Rolling Stones in Las Vegas, with the singer afterwards revealing her joy at "gyrating" with Mick Jagger.

Katy Perry enjoys "gyrating" on Mick Jagger

Pop princess Katy Perry "gyrated" on Sir Mick Jagger while performing on stage with The Rolling Stones last night (May 11).

The stunning songstress joined the legendary band during a show for their '50 & Counting' anniversary tour at Las Vegas venue MGM Grand.

Perry was the group's special guest at the gig, and joined them on stage to perform a rendition of 'Beast of Burden'.

Perry took to Twitter after her stage appearance to gush about the guest slot, writing: " Yes, I just did gyrated on Mick Jagger. WHAT?! #Stones50 (sic)."

When a fan criticised her "appalling grammar" in the sentence, Perry fired back with a funny apology.

She added: "I noticed that. I guess I was too excited. Sorry mom (sic)."

Perry follows in the footsteps of a range of stars who have joined Jagger and co. for their stage comeback, including No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani and country star Keith Urban.

Led Zeppelin rejected Bill Clinton invite to reform for Hurricane Sandy gig

Led Zeppelin turned down a personal invite from Bill Clinton to reunite for a fundraising gig last year.

Organisers of a Hurricane Sandy concert on December 12 last year at Madison Square Garden have revealed that they went to some length to convince 70s rockers Zeppelin to reform once more.

However, the quartet - who played a one-off show in London in 2007 in tribute to late Atlantic Records man Ahmet Ertegun - flatly turned down the offer.

Robin Hood Foundation executive director David Saltzman told CBS News: "There were two bands that we were trying desperately to recruit, one was Rolling Stones, the other was Led Zeppelin. [Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein] had this great idea that we could enlist Bill Clinton to convince Led Zeppelin to reunite to perform at the 12-12-12 concert."

He continued: "So, Harvey and I got on a plane to fly down to Washington to meet with President Clinton who was going to be seeing the members of Led Zeppelin, who were being honoured at the Kennedy Center. And, you know, the president was terrific. He goes, 'I really want to do this. This would be a fantastic thing. I love Led Zeppelin'. And Bill Clinton himself asked Led Zeppelin to reunite. And they wouldn't do it."

Acts that did play the event included the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi.

No Doubt front woman Gwen Stefani has made a guest appearance on stage with the Rolling Stones in Los Angeles.

The ‘Hollaback Girl’ singer joined the Rolling Stones live on stage during the band’s first show of their ‘50 and Counting’ world tour at the LA Staples Center.

Without an introduction, Stefani strutted onto the stage to perform the Stones’ 1971 ballad ‘Wild Horses’. Gwen wore a sparkly Rolling Stones t-shirt for the occasion.

At the end of the song Gwen shared a hug with Mick Jagger before he shouted, “Thanks, Gwen” as she left the stage.

Another guest appearance during the show came from country star and American Idol judge Keith Urban who played guitar and sang during the song ‘Respectable.’

Prior to the performance Mick Jagger took to Twitter to tell his followers about the band’s special guests. Jagger tweeted: “Opening night soundcheck went great. Can't wait to play with @gwenstefani and @keithurban later! #Stones50”.

The Rolling Stones’ ‘50 and Counting’ tour continues tonight with a show at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
