Renowned folk musician Steve Bonham starts his Get Your Boots On Tour - May 25th 2013

Following the well-received launch of Steve Bonham’s single Steady at Bellingham’s Mini BAA festival, renowned folk singer Steve is getting his boots on ready for a musical odyssey along Hadrian’s Wall. Steve’s unique take on the tradition of travelling musicians will see him walk from gig to gig along the 85 miles of the spectacular Hadrian’s Wall Path.

The tour kicks off at Ireby Music Festival on Saturday 25th May followed by the first leg of the walk from Cumbria arriving at Heddon on the Wall, Northumberland on June 1st. Steve will then take the tour to Derby and Southwell Folk Festival before returning north for a grand finale at the Folkalpoint festival at The Sage Gateshead on November 30th 2013.

The tour has been inspired by Steve’s long term musical buddy Tim, who developed the neurological condition ataxia which curtailed his ability to perform. Steve wrote and recorded the song Steady, which features Stephen Doherty’s hauntingly beautiful whistle-playing, to raise awareness of ataxia and to support the charity Ataxia UK’s 2020 campaign to find a cure.

Ataxia is a progressive neurological disorder for which there is no cure. It affects motor co-ordination, walking, vision and speech. There are 10,000 adults with the condition in the UK and it can affect any age group including children. Ataxia UK supports people affected by the condition as well as funding vital research into finding a cure. www.ataxia.org.uk/

Steve Bonham says “I want to do something about this ataxia thing and I want to make more people aware of it - so people don’t think those affected are drunk or stupid. I want people to see beyond the stumble and the uncertainty to the still strong person within. And I want to raise some dosh so that good research by clever people can go on.”

Steve will be show casing Steady along with songs from his 2012 critically acclaimed album ‘The Moon’s High Tide’ and some new pieces. He will be joined by the “Bishop” (keyboards, tuba and percussion) and special guests to create some exhilarating performances of contemporary folk music. Steve is a folk veteran and has collaborated with folk royalty such as ex-Saw Doctor Pearce Doherty, Jimmy Higgins (Irish band Altan) and Fairport Convention’s legendary Dave Pegg.

Steady is now available for free download with donations to Ataxia UK. http://www.stevebonham.net/steady or to view http://youtu.be/eHg-x4ubk3g

Electro Trio U.A. To Release New Single ‘Addict’

Starting out back in 2012, the electro-dance group, formed of siblings Ash, Vicky and Kristian Owen, have generated a considerable buzz in such a short space of time. Created from the breakup of former band Kiddo 360 (UK Live & Unsigned winners 2008), U.A. have quickly formulated their own distinct sound. From building a dedicated fan base in their hometown of Swansea, the band has since set up base in East London and gone on to play sold out shows and gain followers across the globe. This brought the band to the attentions of esteemed sound engineer Wes Maebe (Ellie Goudling, Beverly Knight) and led him to mastering new single ‘Addict’. Impressed after seeing the band’s stripped down live set, Maebe described the band’s sound as ‘fresh’ and ‘killer’. The group also earnt a collaboration with EDM star Shuval Fixer on the track ‘Not Alone’, released through Base Recordings.

Now set to release their infectious single ‘Addict’ the group has highlighted how far they have come. With melodic hooks aplenty, powerful vocals and polished beats, the track is a quintessential club banger. Celebrating their first official release, the track is a step up for the group and marks them as ones to watch. The party anthem is complete with an accompanying video from Giles Palmer Films, which features models from Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model.

‘Addict’ is set for release on July 29th. Watch the video here: http://youtu.be/myryq_8jnQw

CoCo and The Butterfields Set For First Official Release

Having emerged back in 2011, the Canterbury group has quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting folk bands in the UK. From their humble beginnings busking in their hometown, the band have gone on to support the likes of The Pogues, King Charles and Bastille, and picked up numerous awards during their journey, including the prestigious UK Live and Unsigned 2012 competition. Their unique blend of folk, pop and hip-hop has amassed the group a considerable fan base, which was highlighted recently as they played to 1,200 at the sold-out Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.

Having built up this solid foundation, CoCo and the Butterfields are now set to release their first official single ‘Warriors’. A great song choice, the track showcases the band’s distinct sound quite succinctly. Opening with the song’s powerful chorus line, delicious harmonies and infectious melodies capture the listener immediately. This builds into a foot-stomping instrumental section highlighting the band’s talents. Finding a place amongst this varied instrumentation is acoustic guitar, banjo, violin, double bass and percussive parts from beatboxer Jamie Smith. Superbly catchy and uplifting, the single should see the band continue their rise to success.

The Warriors single is set for release on July 29th. Listen to the track here: https://soundcloud.com/cocoandthebutterfields/warriors-1/s-frgat

Snoop Lion has revealed that he thinks marijuana is capable of creating world peace.

The legendary rapper, who turned Rastafarian for his latest album, ‘Reincarnated,’ told the Daily Star that he believes the drug has the power to change people’s lives for the better:

“Marijuana is my girlfriend and I love her to death. To me it’s a herb that’s from the earth, for real. It’s put here for us to enjoy and I feel like the more people that indulge, the more peaceful it is.

“Marijuana tends to put everyone at ease. It connects people from a lot of different walks of life. It’s a positive movement of peace and unity so if you have one right now, blaze up.”

The 41-year-old also then went onto credit his 13-year-old daughter, Cori Broadus, for his new anti-gun stance:

“There has been so much gun violence in America, and all over the world, too, and we just want to see it end. So it’s awesome to have my daughter on my new record. The song is called No Guns Allowed. My daughter is changing me, my music and my way of life because she’s a lady.

“When you have a young lady to raise you want to be in the right way, so I thank her as she’s making me a better man. She believes in what I believe in and I support her.”

Former X-Factor contestant Ruth Lorenzo has denied rumours she is currently dating her ex-boyfriend, JLS singer Oritse Williams.

The Spanish-born singer recently revealed to The Sun that she had an eight-month relationship with the boyband star following their appearance on the 2008 series.

However, the 30-year-old took to Twitter today to slam the newspaper for suggesting that the pair were now back together:

"How can words be twisted in such a way! U can say that u want to catch up with someone over dinner and all of the sudden u r dating! WOW!!!!"

Lorenzo, who releases her debut single, 'The Night,' on June 15, had previously told The Sun:

"We're going out to dinner this week and he's been texting me telling me I look sexy.

"I'll always love Oritsé - he's the kindest, sweetest man I've ever met."
