"The Great Gatsby" Soundtrack Boasts All-Star Lineup

Shawn "JAY Z" Carter, executive producer of the film, executive produces soundtrack for "The Great Gatsby," featuring original new music from Lana Del Rey, Beyonce x Andre 3000, Florence + The Machine, will.i.am, The xx, Fergie + Q Tip + GoonRock, and The Bryan Ferry Orchestra, among others, on Interscope Records' worldwide release - ALBUM TRACK LIST REVEALED.

"The Great Gatsby" writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann and collaborators Shawn "JAY Z" Carter, an executive producer on the film, and Anton Monsted , its executive music supervisor, revealed the lineup for the movie's soundtrack today, which encompasses the broad spectrum of musical styles represented in this energetic re-telling of the classic text. The joint announcement was made today by Warner Bros. Pictures and Universal Music Group's Interscope Records.

Drawing on his unique and unrivalled position in popular culture, JAY Z (with collaborator and the film's executive music consultant Jeymes Samuel) has worked with Luhrmann and his team on the project over the past two years, translating the Jazz Age sensibility of F. Scott Fitzgerald 's novel into the musical equivalents of our own times, through the blending of hip-hop, traditional jazz and other contemporary musical textures.

Luhrmann stated, " F. Scott Fitzgerald 's novel is peppered with contemporary music references specific to the story's setting of 1922. While we acknowledge, as Fitzgerald phrased it, 'the Jazz Age,' and this is the period represented on screen, we—our audience—are living in the 'hip-hop age' and want our viewers to feel the impact of modern-day music the way Fitzgerald did for the readers of his novel at the time of its publication."

"The Great Gatsby is that classic American story of one's introduction to extravagance, decadence and illusion. It's ripe for experimentation and ready to be interpreted with a modern twist. The imagination Baz brought to 'Moulin Rouge!' made it a masterpiece, and 'Romeo + Juliet's' score wasn't just in the background; the music became a character. This film's vision and direction has all the makings of an epic experience," JAY Z said in a previous statement.

JAY Z's own "No Church in the Wild," which he was recording when he and Luhrmann first came together, is included in the film, along with his original "100$ Bill." The first single to drop will be the hauntingly melodious track "Young and Beautiful," from recent Brit Award winner for Best International Female Solo Artist, Lana Del Rey ; the music video and song release are scheduled for April 22nd and April 23rd, respectively. Del Rey collaborated with Luhrmann in creating the song.

Del Rey said, "It was an honor to work with Baz Luhrmann on his amazing adaptation of one of the most extraordinary books ever written. The movie is highly glamorous and exciting; Rick Nowels and I were thrilled to write the song for the film."

Luhrmann also worked personally alongside good friends and collaborators Florence Welch , of Florence + The Machine, and The xx. Each of the artists worked to picture.

The highly eclectic soundtrack also features songs performed by such artists as Beyonce x Andre 3000; Fergie + Q Tip + GoonRock; Coco O. of Quadron, Gotye; Nero; and Sia. Moviegoers will also recognize a few favorites with a new twist, such asJack White 's interpretation of U2's "Love Is Blindness," Beyonce x Andre 3000 collaborating on Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black," and Bryan Ferry 's new take on a couple of classics: his own "Love Is The Drug," and, with Emeli Sande , Beyonce's "Crazy in Love." New songs by Florence + The Machine, Lana Del Rey , Nero, will.i.am and The xx were written for scenes in the film, and appear on the soundtrack.

A new trailer for the film will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures on April 4th, and will feature the songs "Back To Black," from Beyonce x Andre 3000; "Young And Beautiful," from Lana Del Rey ; and "Over The Love," from Florence + The Machine. The trailer can be viewed at www.thegreatgatsbymovie.com.

The score is composed by Luhrmann's regular collaborator, Craig Armstrong , who worked with the director on "Moulin Rouge!" and " William Shakespeare 's Romeo + Juliet."

Beginning May 7th, Target stores and Target.com will be the exclusive U.S. retailer of the of the 17-track deluxe edition of the album. That date will also see the album available at digital retailers (available for pre-order on April 23rd). A 14-track physical version will also be available at Starbucks in the U.S. and Canada, and widely, both physically and digitally, at various retailers. Internationally, the soundtrack will be released in physical, digital, deluxe and standard formats on May 6th.

Both the standard album and the deluxe edition will be released worldwide by Interscope Records.

The full track list for "The Great Gatsby" standard soundtrack album is as follows:

From the uniquely imaginative mind of writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann comes the new big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald 's novel The Great Gatsby. The filmmaker created his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never been seen before, in the film starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role.

"The Great Gatsby" follows would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby , and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan . It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

Academy Award® nominee DiCaprio ("Django Unchained," "Aviator") plays Jay Gatsby , with Tobey Maguire starring as Nick Carraway ; Oscar® nominee Carey Mulligan ("An Education") and Joel Edgerton as Daisy and Tom Buchanan ; Isla Fisher andJason Clarke as Myrtle and George Wilson ; and newcomer Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker . Indian film legend Amitabh Bachchan will play the role of Meyer Wolfsheim.

Oscar® nominee Luhrmann ("Moulin Rouge!") directs the film in 3D from a screenplay co-written with frequent collaborator Craig Pearce , based on Fitzgerald's novel. Luhrmann produces, along with Catherine Martin , Academy Award® winner Douglas Wick ("Gladiator"), Lucy Fisher and Catherine Knapman . The executive producers are Academy Award® winner Barrie M. Osborne ("Lord of the Rings – Return of the King"), JAY Z and Bruce Berman .

Two-time Academy Award®-winning production and costume designer Catherine Martin ("Moulin Rouge!") designs as well as produces. The editors are Matt Villa , Jason Ballantine and Jonathan Redmond , and the director of photography is Simon Duggan . The music is by Craig Armstrong .

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, in association with A&E Television, a Bazmark/Red Wagon Entertainment Production, a Film by Baz Luhrmann , "The Great Gatsby." Opening beginning May 10, 2013, the film will be distributed in 3D and 2D by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Kirsty Bertarelli and Ronan Keating Video Premiere

www.facebook.com/kirsty.bertarelli
@kirsty_music

On April 29th 2013 Kirsty will be releasing ‘Send Out A Message (To The World)’, a perfect introduction to this talented singer/songwriter.

The first song from her new album ‘Love Is’, ‘Send Out A Message (To The World)’ is an uplifting celebration of life on which she duets with Ronan Keating. Recorded in both London and Nashville, ‘Love Is’ is a collection of beautifully crafted, timeless pop songs tinged with a lyrical depth that evokes true emotion. A deeply personal record, the album covers the broad range of feelings that are encompassed by the word ‘love’. As Kirsty explains “love is such a potent word, with many sides to it: it can be beautiful but its power shows its colours in many different ways - it can stir such deep reactions, it can make you irresponsible and irrational, passionate and tender, insecure and angry, joyful and exhilarated.”

Inspired by storytellers such as Bryan Adams and Joe Cocker and, more recently, by Norah Jones and Adele, songwriting is Kirsty’s personal release, her way of expressing herself. “I always write. If someone or something has touched me deeply I write about it, whether that is my family and the people I care about or something I’ve experienced or observed. I’ve never known anything different.” Signed as a songwriter to Sony ATV Publishing, Kirsty met Don Mescall (Rascal Flatts, Ronan Keating, Frances Black) in 2012 with a view to writing songs for other artists. “I went into the studio with the lyrics for ‘Rescue Me’, Don started playing some beautiful chords, I sang my heart out and we just clicked.” Kirsty then set about producing what will be her first UK album release although she is not a stranger to the charts.

Following success as a model in her teens, the Staffordshire-born singer moved to London and began to write professionally. Signed to Warner Brothers Records, Kirsty wrote ‘I Wouldn’t Wanna Be’, a song originally destined to be on her debut record until the British group All Saints fell in love with the song, changed the title to ‘Black Coffee’ and had a number 1 hit.

Whilst delighted that her songwriting was recognised, Kirsty remained hungry for her own time as a performer. “Don’t get me wrong, it’s fantastic to hear your songs on the radio, and to see them on TV, but at the same time it’s so hard to hear your own feelings in the lyrics when someone else is performing!” So, Kirsty focussed on writing and recording her own record. “It's important for me to feel a connection to the music,” says Kirsty. “Having started with so many ideas and written so much, it was great to shape the production process as well.”

However her ambitions as a recording artist paused when she married, moved to Switzerland, and started a family. Returning to music in 2009 Kirsty recorded the album 'Elusive’. Her ability to write had never been in doubt, but at last Kirsty had the chance to carry her own songs. Her gift for a subtly-conveyed lyric and capacity to make those words connect via her voice proved the perfect vehicle and ‘Elusive’, which was released on Universal Records, became a top 20 hit in Switzerland. An exhaustive series of European live dates followed (not least of all a show at the Montreux Jazz Festival and supporting Simply Red on their farewell tour).

When not working on her music, Kirsty leads many of the philanthropic projects supported by the Bertarelli Foundation. These include a partnership with the UK government supporting the Marine Reserve in the British Indian Ocean Territory (one of the largest in the world), as well as a recent initiative to turn the Turneffe Atoll in Belize into a nature reserve. Closer to home, 2012 saw the first Bertarelli Foundation Creative Minds Festival in Kirsty's home town of Stoke-on-Trent, which encourages participation in the creative arts amongst schoolchildren from all backgrounds.

Bjork - Crystalline [Current Value Remix]

On April 16 One Little Indian Records is set to release the first in an eight-part series of remixes of tracks from Björk’s Biophilia.

Available on 12” vinyl as well as CD and digital download, the first entry in the series features the Current Value remixes of “Crystalline” and “Solstice.” The series will go on to feature a new collaboration every two weeks with artists 16-bit, King Cannibal, Death Grips, El Guincho, Matthew Herbert, Hudson Mohawke, Alva Noto, and These New Puritans. Each entry in the series will also be made available in a 500-piece limited edition deluxe package designed by m/m with special blue mineral papers and embossed foil lettering consisting of a 12” LP and CD.

The Biophilia 10-track album, out now on One Little Indian, is available digitally, in CD format and on vinyl. Additionally, each of the 10 songs also is available as a special feature of the Biophilia App for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. App tutorials have been created and can be viewed on youtube.

Biophilia was named one of 2011’s Best Apps by Apple and landed on year-end best-of lists from NME, Mojo, The Observer, and Uncut, among others. Fast Company recently named Björk one of the top five most innovative companies in music.

Björk has collaborated with app developers, scientists, writers, inventors, musicians, and instrument makers to create a unique multimedia exploration of the universe and its physical forces—particularly those where music, nature, and technology meet.

The project is inspired by and explores these relationships between musical structures and natural phenomena, from the atomic to the cosmic. The New York Times raves, “the new songs juxtapose hovering textures of choir and organ with sparse pointillism and sudden eruptions of breakbeat drumming, all set against Björk’s idiosyncratic melodies: pithy or sustained, pausing unexpectedly and then snaking upward and opening out to a banshee wail.”

The critically acclaimed Biophilia live show premiered this past summer at the Manchester International Festival followed by a sold out residency in Björk’s hometown of Reykjavik. Björk recently brought the show to New York for a residency at the Roseland Ballroom and New York Hall of Science, where the latter hosted a three-week-long Biophilia education series featuring interactive science and music workshops for middle-school children Björk and the entire Biophilia team!”

Initially commissioned by MIF, the intimate performance finds Björk accompanied by a set of unique musical instruments created by a team including an Icelandic organ builder and a graduate of the MIT Media Lab. Among these creations are four 10-foot pendulum-harps, a MIDI-controlled pipe organ celeste re-fitted with bronze gamelan bars, and twin musical Tesla coils. The performance also features an award-winning 24-piece Icelandic female choir and visuals from the Biophilia Apps with app developer Max Weisel performing on stage alongside Björk and musicians Manu Delagu and Zeena Parkins. David Fricke of Rolling Stone called the New York show “Even more immersive than the Biophilia show I saw in Reykjavik last fall...unearthly in its range and force, yet absolutely natural and frank in its ardor and hope, [Björk's voice] is the vital human tissue connecting everything else.” A version of the program will also tour to major European festivals including Roskilde and Oyez.
