Jessie J didn't expect to be so successful

Vocal powerhouse and The Voice panelist Jessie J has opened up about the incredible career she's had so far and revealed that she didn't expect to be so well-received.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, the 'Laserlight' songstress explained that she genuinely didn't think her music would enjoy such success, but she is so grateful for the support of her amazing fans:

"I didn't ever, ever think I'd have 7 singles, I kind of thought 3 and then we'd end it!"

When asked about her current role on The Voice UK, Jessie J admitted that it's definitely been an eye-opening experience although she wishes the press would focus on the positive side of the programme instead of always putting an unpleasant spin on stories:

"It's been really good, it's been a massive learning curve. One album out and I'm stting next to Sir Tom Jobes, Will.i.Am and Danny!"

"It irritates me because every interview I've done in the last week has been about the negative instead of the positive press. I'd like to hope to think I've brought to the table that it's important to be constructive and honest, but you know what... papers write crap all the time."

Jessie J on her sexuality: 'My family never made me feel embarrassed'

Jessie J recently sat down for an in-depth interview with America's edition of Glamour magazine and opened up about how her upbringing taught her not to be embarrassed about her sexuality.

The singer has previously revealed that she is bisexual and explained to the magazine that her supportive family life has shown her that acceptance and love is something that should come naturally to people:

"You know what it is – I have such an amazing mum and dad who have been married for 32 years, and my sisters always made me feel like I was amazing. No one ever tried to suppress who I wanted to be. I never got embarrassed."

She also admitted that while she is currently unattached, she feels that sexuality "shouldn't define you" and thinks its important to stand up for your beliefs:

"I've never tried to make my sexuality something that's going to put me in newspapers or magazines,' she admitted. 'Sexuality shouldn't define you, it should be part of who you are. At the moment I'm single, happy and learning about myself. Music is the love of my life right now."

Jessie J on not being a 'party person' and hair loss fears

Jessie J has revealed that she will always prefer wigs to extensive hair-styling because it saves her locks from falling out.

Although the vocal sensation announced plans to shave her head for charity last year, she explained to Glamour magazine in a new interview that it makes more sense for her to change her look with hair pieces to stop it getting damaged:

"It's tough to explain to people. When you have half an hour to be ready at four o'clock in the morning, you don't have time to get up and glue in extensions or blow-dry your hair."

"A hairdresser who did my hair said, 'You, my darling, have something that we call 'successful' hair', which is basically battered hair that's split and falling out in the back because you've had to blow-dry it every day. I don't want my hair falling out, so I wear wigs!"

She also admitted that despite being a pop star she doesn't really immerse herself in the stereotypical lifestyle and isn't really a "party person" at all:

"I'm young, and having one drink is [enough]. My [calendar] is just unreal at the moment. I don't have time to be tired!"

"You need to choose when you have your celebration and make it special instead of going out every night and exhausting yourself. I'm not really the party person. I don't 'become myself' once I'm drunk. I don't use alcohol to be happy."

Jessie J unveils 'Laserlight' music video

The music video for Jessie J's collaboration with dance master David Guetta has finally hit the web after leaking ahead of schedule.

The video for 'Laserlight', which is an anthemic track and features the French DJ, begins with the vocal superstar sat in the back seat of a car wearing a spiked leather jacket and moves to a movie theatre before cutting to the star in a shadowy room full of vibrant lasers.

It is a stylish offering and the visuals are particularly striking with the contrast of dark backgrounds with bright beams of light, and it will serve as the fifth single to be taken from Jessie J's debut studio album 'Who You Are'.

She also performed her first live gig last night (April 9) in Los Angeles and told her Heartbeats via social networking site Twitter that it "felt brand new" and was an "inspiring" experience.

Speaking to the Sun, Murs joked that he's angling for an invite to Wiseman's hen party so that he can try his luck at a bit of romance himself - with Wiseman's bandmate Mollie King. He said:

"I'm going to try and find a way to get invited. That way I'd get to hang out with Mollie. She's lovely."
