Record numbers ready to rock at growing two-day music festival

Organisers of the Live and Kicking Music Festival, being held at the MEL Group Stadium in Sudbury, Suffolk, are expecting record numbers at this year’s event.

The festival, now in its fourth year, features 19 live musical acts over the two days and is being headlined by ska legend Neville Staple - one of the leading figures of the UK music scene in the early 1980s as a singer with The Specials and later Fun Boy Three. Staple will be backed by some of the UK’s top tribute acts including those to Paul Weller and The Jam, The Who, Oasis, Stone Roses, The Commitments and Pink. Original bands include The Mannequins (which recently signed its first record deal), Zeb Roots, Old Town Souls, Poesi, Lone Crows, Absolution and local acts Andy Hill and Oblivious.

In addition to the musical acts there will be a display of vintage scooters which took part in the closing ceremony of the London Olympics 2013. The award winning Growler Brewery is also staging a two-day beer festival at the event featuring a range of real ales. Day one of the festival will see 20 rare images of The Jam dating back to the early 1980s on display. The images range from pictures of the band on stage, rare session shots to photos for record sleeves. The images are the work of Jam fan and one time band photographer Derek D’Souza and were recently featured in the London exhibition Absolute Luck which brought plaudits from the band’s former Lead singer Paul Weller who said: “These pics bring back so many memories. It is great to see these pictures in print after all these years.”

The second day of the festival, which will see 10 main stage acts, includes a free children’s fun village featuring bouncy castles, bungy runs, mega slides, gladiator duels, Punch and Judy shows, a children’s entertainers and circus skills.

Richard Instance, one of the Live and Kicking organisers, said: “We are really excited about this year’s event it is certainly our biggest and best yet. The festival has always been popular locally but this time we have sold tickets far and wide. We really do have a fantastic line-up, of course Neville Staple is a huge coup for us, however we have something for everyone with acts from across the musical genres including rock, glam, punk, blues, pop, ska, reggae, indie and soul.”

BBC Radio presenter Stephen Foster and popular local author and entertainer Charlie Haylock will be comperes at the event, which takes place this weekend (Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23). Camping is available on a first come, first serve basis with full shower and breakfast facilities.

Jessica Simpson being sued over staged baby pictures

Jessica Simpson is being sued by a man who claims that the US star posed with his son and pretended that the child was her own.

Christopher Hurst’s allegations assert that Jessica Simpson devised a plan with OK! magazine to make money by posing for a photograph with his son which was then used on the cover of the publication (see image below).

The lawsuit states that it was suggested that Hurst should allow Simpson to hold his son when they met in a department store in October 2011.

Once the singer held the young boy Chris Hurst says that a photographer then began taking pictures of the two of them. One of those images was then used as a front cover picture by OK! alongside headlines that implied the boy was Jessica Simpson’s child.

Chris Hurst’s lawsuit accuses Jessica of having made a deal with a rival magazine to sell the first images of her daughter for $800,000, but later teamed up with OK! to make more money by being pictured with a baby that was not hers.

Chris Hurst is suing OK! And Getty Images, as well as Jessica Simpson, for damages in excess of $75,000.

Jessica Simpson, who is currently pregnant with her second child, has not commented on the allegations.

Beady Eye to censor new album cover in supermarkets due to nudity

Beady Eye have been forced to censor the cover for their forthcoming new album.

The UK indie group are releasing their second record 'BE' on Monday (June 10), but its cover - which sees a woman baring a nipple - has been deemed too 'nude' for supermarkets.

The woman in question is the wife of photographer Harry Peccinotti, who created the artwork.

A publicist for the band's label Sony said:

"We had to cover the nipple up for sale in supermarkets. They wouldn't stock it as it was. That goes for our advertising as well. We have had complaints online requesting our digital ads be pulled as they have been flagged for adult content."

A spokesperson meanwhile for the British Retail Consortium commented: "Supermarkets take their responsibilities to customers very seriously. They have long been committed to following joint industry guidelines and have also taken their own independent voluntary action to ensure that any publications or other items which may cause offence or be seen by children are displayed discreetly."

They say keep your friends close and your enemies closer - and it seems Tulisa has been doing exactly that whilst in America.

The British singer is currently in the States to make inroads in her acting career, with auditions and meetings lined up.

It seems, however, that she was so desperate to make one of her meetings that she hitched a lift with a paparazzi photographer.

Tulisa posted an image of herself in the snapper's car, with a long lens camera and laptop clearly visible in the vehicle.

She tweeted: "So seeing as the paps are following me all day I've decided to get a lift off one to my next meeting lol!!"

The X Factor judge later added: "Riding with the enemy! LOL."

Tulisa meanwhile recently revealed that she has nearly confirmed a role in a movie sequel, saying:

"I enjoy acting, so I'm off to Los Angeles tomorrow to do that and I have meetings, auditions and agents lined up. I've got a movie planned for the end of the year so I'll be filming in LA then. It's 95 per cent confirmed but all I can tell you is it's a sequel."

Little Mix have lambasted the paparazzi and their tactics to get revealing shots of celebrities.

Female stars are regularly targeted by photographers as they are getting out of cars in an effort to secure candid images.

This is something that angers Little Mix, with Jesy Nelson telling the Metro that the snappers are effectively above the law due to their job. The singer said:

"They try and get up your skirt and take pictures of you, it's terrible. It really infuriates me because if I was a normal person they'd be bloody arrested so why should a pap be like that? They are so naughty and cheeky."

She continued: "They shout out at you when they're taking pictures. Paps always call me "big boobs" and "big bum". We are human beings, I don't appreciate it."

A photographer who performed a lap dance on Harry Styles is said to be "embarrassed" by the whole ordeal.

As previously reported, the One Direction man received a sultry dance from a scantily clad lady whilst celebrating his 19th birthday in London on Friday (February 1).

It was all organised by BBC Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw and the woman got down to her underwear.

It has now emerged that the stripper was actually a 30-year-old photographer called Camilla Robson - and her mum Jennifer told the Daily Mail that she was put up to the task as a favour for a friend. Robson said:

"She's not a stripper. That's not her job. She's a photographer. She has not done it before. She was just doing it as a favour for a friend and now, obviously, she regrets it. She is really embarrassed by the whole thing and she doesn't want to talk about it. She is shocked by all the attention it has got. I suppose she should have known it would really."

One Direction star Harry Styles gave a paparazzo a cheeky reply after being asked for an autograph.

The singer had just returned from a trip away to France, where the pop group collected a gong at the NRJ Music Awards.

A photographer was looking for snaps of Styles outside of his London home but ended up asking the star for an autograph for his daughter Ella.

The singer duly accepted - but wrote that the child should tell her father to "go away". He wrote:

"To Ella, please tell your daddy to go away. Love from Harry x."

As previously reported, One Direction have been named as one of the richest reality TV stars around.

As previously reported, 29-year old paparazzo Chris Guerra was hit by a car and killed in Los Angeles on January 1 when he was walking back from taking images of Justin Bieber's stationary Ferrari.

Actor Charlie Sheen has now stepped in to pay for the funeral of Guerra after hearing that his family was struggling to afford the service. He told TMZ:

The singer said that Australia's 'Prince of Paparazzi' Jamie Fawcett "endangered" her whilst she kayaked in Sydney Harbour last week.

The X Factor Australia judge has been granted a restraining order until November 22 when the case returns to court.

Fawcett has been ordered not to contact the star and to not "loiter" within 50 metres of her.

The snapper has previously been called "Sydney's most disliked freelance photographer", with Mischa Barton's rep also calling Fawcett a "parasite".
