Pressparty speaks to Tich about her debut single, fans and One Direction

Tich is one of the hottest rising stars in the British pop scene, and she's the envy of millions after being championed by One Direction and The Wanted. The singer, who has already supported the likes of Justin Bieber and Olly Murs, has just unleashed her first single - so what better time to catch up with the 19-year-old to find out more? We also invited Tich fans to send in their questions via Twitter - read five of them at the bottom of the interview.

You've just released your debut single 'Dumb'. How's the reception been so far?

Oh my gosh, it's been so incredible. More than I could ever have wished for. It's a real testament to everyone who has supported me.

You've been performing live for a number of years - do you see this as your big break in a way?

I don't know if there is a big break anymore. I've always gigged and I hard work - I try to build a family of people around me, and hopefully that pays off.

Did you ever think about going on something like the X Factor?

That's never been a route that I've personally gone down. I've always written songs and performed them, so it hasn't been necessary in what I've done to do that. Never say never, but I think for me I'll always just go down the gigging route.

Some people will think of many up and coming popstars as being 'manufactured', but you don't really fit that bill?

I've been in the industry going hard for six years, but it's what I love to do and I think that's the way to do it - it's really in you.

It must mean you've got a bit of a fanbase already?

They're incredible. I call them TichFam, because I see them as part of the family. They get me through as much as I hopefully help them. They really rallied around and their support for 'Dumb' has been so incredible. It's kind of overwhelming to watch.

Do you have an album in the works?

Yeah, it's basically done. But I believe it's always been written - I can add to it and take away every day. It'll hopefully come out this year.

Any interesting collaborations on it?

There's a few that I can't say at the moment, but all will be revealed I'm sure...

You have recently received praise on Twitter from members of One Direction - was that surprising for you?

Yeah - I didn't expect it when Harry [Styles] and Louis [Tomlinson] tweeted me. To have such support from such influential people...I love how they work, I love their music...it means a lot.

Would you be open to working with them in the future?

Yeah, I'd love to.

What influences have inspired your songwriting?

Max Martin has really influenced me. Things around me inspire me. Classical music inspires me too. And I just write to help myself feel better sometimes.

What would you do if you weren't a singer? (from @NDUBZsarahlou)

I love cooking, so maybe a chef? I love being creative and making things.

What was the funniest moment about the Olly Murs tour? (from @LaurenJLS_Marv)

There's so many...probably when Loveable Rogues tried all my clothes on.

What does it feel like to be a celebrity? (from @Amiee_LouisGirl)

I wouldn't say that! When people come up and know who I am, I find that so crazy. I always think they're talking to someone else.

What was it like touring with Pixie Lott and Justin Bieber at such a young age? (from @AmberLottX)

I don't think it quite sunk in at the time. Looking back, I can't actually believe it. Pixie is a lovely, lovely girl and Justin obviously has gone on to do such incredible things. He was absolutely lovely as well. At the time I just kind of worked with it, but when I look back now I'm like 'Wow'.

If you had a pet giraffe, what would you name it? (from @kayleighhunter)

Jeremy!

We’re just different sexes, but we all kind of go through a lot of the same sh*t."

Kevin Jonas spills on his group's new material: 'Frank Ocean influenced us'

Jonas Brothers member Kevin has opened up about the group's forthcoming new album and revealed that they were inspired by several contemporary artists' sounds.

Speaking to Digital Spy, he explained that Frank Ocean was a big influence on them this time around: "Yeah, definitely Frank Ocean was an influence. There were so many people that influenced this next album, just more the direction and the tone. We took our time. We all did individual things for a very long time, and we needed to."

He also admitted that fans will be able to tell the boys have grown up and are older with the new record as the content is more mature: "Yeah, oh definitely. We're all in our 20s and I'm 25 and married. The content is different than it was before. We're not talking about simple little things anymore, we're talking about actual things in life that matter. And I think that people have grown with us as well."

"Our fans that were 16, 18 are now also in their 20s and so they're dealing with real life issues and starting to have real relationships and families and things like that. It's definitely pretty intense and really cool to see."

Kevin Jonas (pictured below with wife Danielle) even revealed that he recently met some of the One Direction heartthrobs, adding: "One Direction's great - I just met Harry a couple of days ago actually, and he's just super nice. I'm just happy that music and pop is coming back."

'You Belong With Me' songstress Taylor Swift has opened up about her changing fashion sense and revealed that now she's older and knows what she likes, she enjoys dressing according to the seasons.

Speaking as part of her collection for shoe brand Keds, Swift explained that her style is "feminine, experimental and classic," and that she will take inspiration from the world around her when putting together an outfit:

"I like to wear in the spring, and I'll admit I'm obnoxious like this, I like to dress like a mini-Easter egg. I get really excited about seasons changing. I'm self aware about it but I'm excited about it. I like pastels and bows. I like to incorporate the summer wardrobe along with some things for spring into the overall look."

The beauty added that like any other girl she has looks she will always return to: "I'll have these style epiphanies. When I was 15, I realised that I loved the idea of a sundress and cowboy boots and that's all I wore for, like, two years. Try everything because you might not like it today but you might want to wear it tomorrow. If you find a look you keep going back to it then it might just be your personal style."

Last month, the beauty gave an exclusive interview to Self magazine about her weight loss and new-found love for her body and confessed that being healthy is now her priority:

Garbage question Angelina Jolie's 'heroism' after revealing double mastectomy

Earlier this week, Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie wrote an article about how she recently underwent a double mastectomy after it was confirmed that she carried the BRCA1 gene, which gave her an 87% chance of developing breast cancer.

Jolie's article went viral with people from the public and media praising her honesty and bravery, but rockers Garbage took to their official Twitter page this afternoon (May 17) to question the attention her piece has received.

The band tweeted: "Why is Angelina Jolie talking about her tests + preventative procedures most women can’t afford, being considered heroic by the media?"

In the editorial, Jolie urged women to get tested for the gene and explained that it will cost the average American a couple of thousand dollars to get it checked out.

CNN recently published a response to her exposé, which was written by Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice professor H. Gilbert Welch who explains that it shouldn't be a widespread cause for concern because "more than 99% of women do not have BRCA1 -- or BRCA2."

Bonnie Tyler: 'People tell me my song's too good to win Eurovision'

Songstress Bonnie Tyler has admitted that she's doubtful her Eurovision Song Contest entry will win this year because people keep telling her that it's too good.

She will represent the UK in Malmo, Sweden this coming weekend (May 18) with a track called 'Believe In Me' and Wales Online has quoted her as saying that fans keep saying it's unlikely the UK will win with such a strong offering:

"It has been said to me over the last couple of weeks, ‘You’re not going to win this Bonnie, your song is too good!’ Which is crazy, huh?"

Referring to being asked to enter Eurovision 2013, she added: "Firstly it was like, ‘Wow, Eurovision!’ I’d been asked 30 years ago and I couldn’t do it because I was so busy with 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart', which was number one and the album was number one too."

“About 120 million people watch Eurovision and I have a lot of friends in Europe. Maybe that’s why the BBC asked me because maybe they thought there’s a good chance. We have got a good song but you never know what can happen in Eurovision. It’ll be a great experience, I’m sure about that.”

E! confirms that Beyoncé is pregnant with second child

Vocal superstar Beyoncé is reportedly pregnant with her second child according to E! News.

The site revealed that several official sources confirmed the exciting news to them today and this information comes just days after the 'Halo' beauty was forced to cancel a concert in Belgium under doctor's orders.

While she cited dehydration and exhaustion as the reasons for the cancellation this week, many news sites ran stories suggesting she could be expecting another baby and E! now appears to have reinforced the speculation.

During her live show on May 15, Beyoncé told the audience she was also advised to call that performance off but decided to go ahead regardless as she didn't want to let her fans down.

At the MET Gala in New York earlier this month, she raised eyebrows after walking the red carpet in a custom-made Givenchy gown (pictured below) with a belt that covered her stomach. Pictures have also been taken of Beyoncé over the past few weeks at her Mrs. Carter gigs that show her with a more rounded stomach than usual (see above left).

Reading and Leeds Festival boss disputes 'festivals are too expensive for youngsters' claim

Melvin Benn, the boss behind England's Reading and Leeds Festival, has hit back at the research that supposedly shows music festivals in the UK are too expensive for young people to attend.

MSN UK revealed earlier this week that 60% of 18-24 year olds can't afford the rising costs of going to outdoor events, which often include things like camping gear, food, drink and travel on top of ticket prices.

2,000 people participated in the study and Benn has now slammed the results, saying to Music Week that they don't give an accurate representation of those who enjoy festivals: "Some things just have to be looked at twice and by God this did."

"We do surveys every year at Reading and Leeds and reinforce them by checking the Facebook and Twitter stats of our sites that carry age profiles. For the last two years the age profiles have been 16/17 years 28%, 18/19 32% and 20/24 20%. A massive 80% aged 24 or under all coming along to the best 200 quids worth of British culture on offer."

“The plus 35's at Reading & Leeds register just 9%. They say stats can come up with anything that can be believed: unless MSN get their hands on them I guess!"

Zane Lowe: 'We have too much access to our music idols with the Internet, there's no mystique'

Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe has given his opinion on the rise of social media in the music industry and revealed that sites such as Twitter and Facebook give people too much access to the stars they look up to.

During an interview with Digital Spy, he explained that the 'mystique' is taken out of bands these days because now we can check their online pages to see what mundane things they fill their days with:

"This isn't to sound like I long for a time before these things existed - I for one embrace the medium and think in a lot of ways it's the only way artists can actually control how they can be heard - but the pressure to constantly update takes away some of the mystery and mystique of art."

"I loved it when I didn't know what Chris Cornell had for breakfast, or God forbid I ever found out what pair of pants Chuck D decided to put on that day."

Referring to his own experiences of music pre-social networking, Lowe added that he "didn't even know what Thom Yorke sounded like to speak to for the first two Radiohead albums": "I loved the idea of them being superheroes to me. Would Superman be Superman if he was mystified by Twitter every day?"

Macklemore discusses rise to fame: 'Pre-Internet, you had to rap in street battles'

Rap sensation Macklemore has explained that while his chart success was very sudden, he has been working hard to make a name for himself in the music world since he was just a kid.

During a revealing interview with Billboard for the new issue's cover story, the 'Thrift Shop' hitmaker confessed that he was taking part in street rap battles when he was a youngster to try and gain respect from those already in the game: "This was pre-Internet as a way to get your music out. So I had to do shows, but I was too young. Freestyling on the street or in the park was where I honed the craft."

He went on to unveil his dark past, talking about how he often preferred drugs to school: "It was pre-gentrification of Seattle's Central District. And I wasn't going to class and I was doing a bunch of drugs and drinking. So my parents put me in a predominantly white school in the North End and then I did a program called Running Start, which was like a community college. I never got a chance to climb any kind of social ladder anywhere. I was more into making music-and doing hallucinogenic mushroom voyages."

Discussing his recovery, Macklemore (pictured below with Ryan Lewis) added that while he's clean now he still struggles with 'overindulging': "I tend to be an overindulger in general. Like I've just eaten two bags of chips and I had a shitload of candy from a gas station last night."

"I don't have moderation in my life. I really have to work on it. So with drugs and alcohol, I had no moderation. Smoking weed and drinking hindered my creative process. They were the veil over my eyes. It never really worked for me, in terms of being prolific."

The star already has 4 of his own clothing lines, namely Billionaire Boys Club, Billionaire Girls Club, Bee Line, ICECREAM, and will now join as a mentor on the show, which features 12 contestants who will take on challenges over 10 weeks for the chance to win the opportunity to design outfits for celebrities.
