Ke$ha on body image: 'I don't have the perfect figure, but I celebrate what I've got'

Pop beauty Ke$ha has opened up about the importance of self-worth in a new interview and revealed that accepting your body is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Speaking to Self magazine, the 'Die Young' songstress explained that body image is a tough and constant battle so she has learned to "celebrate" what she's got instead of criticising her curves:

"I don't have a perfect body, [but it's] important to celebrate what you've got."

"For me, I like showing off my legs because I work really hard on them. So you will rarely find me wearing pants. I stay far away from a scale because it's not about a number, it's about how I feel. I try to eat healthy because it makes me feel good."

The superstar also revealed details of her fitness routine, adding that she likes to mix up the types of training she does in order to keep herself interested and motivated: "My show is very energetic - I dance and sing at the same time and run around. Training for a tour is like training for a marathon. When I'm eating healthy and working out, it helps me stay sane and exude confidence..."

"I bike, I swim and I love yoga. I also love rock climbing, which I've done since I was 16. It's meditative and great for toning your arms and back. I love to run, too."

WAITING FOR THE DAWN, the debut album from quintessential California band The Mowgli’s is available today on Photo Finish/Island Records. Two nights later on June 20th, The Mowgli’s make their second appearance on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. WAITING FOR DAWN was produced by longtime Mowgli’s collaborator Christian James-Hand, who also co-produced tracks with Sam Hollander (Gym Class Heroes, Neon Trees), Captain Cuts (Grouplove, Out Of Sight) and Jens Koerkemeier. Click here to purchase the album - http://smarturl.it/iWaitingfortheDawn

USAToday.com had an exclusive first listen stream of WAITING FOR THE DAWN yesterday and Paste Magazine recently premiered “The Great Divide” video – watch below.

The band also kicked off their “Be A Mowgli” campaign (www.beamowgli.com) which encourages fans to promote positive change through their manifesto of loving everyone and random acts of kindness. Users can submit photos and other multimedia showcasing what it means to “Be A Mowgli” to them and even call a number that the band is answering to talk about positivity and love.

The Mowgli’s are into a busy spring and summer schedule of major festival dates across the U.S. which has already taken in Edgefest in Dallas, Revelry in Madison, WI and Bonnaroo in Manchester, TN. A dozen more festival dates include Summerfest (June 29th), Lollapalooza (August 4th) and Bumbershoot (September 1st). These will be combined with headlining dates through May, June and July. Tour dates have also been set for October with Walk The Moon.

The Mowgli’s comprise five childhood friends from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, augmented by 3 mid-western transplants: Michael Vincze (guitar, vocals), David Applebaum (keys), Spencer Trent (percussion), Josh Hogan (guitar, vocals), Andy Warren (drums), Katie Jayne Earl (vocals), Colin Dieden (guitar, vocals) and Matt Di Panni (bass). Part ‘60s Laurel Canyon, part ‘70s Venice Beach, and part ‘10s Silverlake, the band and their harmonies are held together by a message of universal love, peace and the belief that the highest form of consciousness is achieved by togetherness and unity. Inspired by the grind of Los Angeles, the magnetism of San Francisco, and the serenity of the Big Sur Coast, the songs of The Mowgli’s can be described as a joyous revival of rock and roll, a twisting indie-folk dance and a heartfelt protest ballad. They have been known to slide from indie pop to country and a host of genres in between, evoking modern artists such as Fun., Grouplove, and Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros, while their roots are firmly planted in the music of Neil Young, the Byrds, the Beach Boys, and Fleetwood Mac.

Download Festival head booker: 'All the bands think they're headlining'

The head booker for rock and metal music festival Download has revealed that every year the bands booked think they should be headlining and they often have to be put in their places.

Speaking to London's Metro newspaper, Live Nation promoter Andy Copping explained that there are a lot of egos involved so securing a solid line up and figuring out stage times can be tricky:

"A lot of negotiations are over where a band will appear. Who's playing above and below them, are they a main stage headliner? Bizarrely, all acts seem to think they are."

This year's event, which is taking place over this weekend, is being headlined by the likes of Rammstein, Slipknot and Iron Maiden, and Copping added that the best way to deal with stubborn bands is to just show your authority:

"Sometimes, you have to get a bit s**tty with them, 'This is what you did on your last tour, this is how many records you've sold, you haven't grown in stature since. This is where you slot in; bite my arm off and kiss my ass'."

The Local Legends Set to Release New Album ‘Queens Will’

‘Queens Will’ is released on 15th July 2013

After immersing himself in the deepest, darkest corners of London for a whole year, rhythm guitarist/vocalist Ben decided he belonged in the studio and onstage making the music he loved, the music of legends. Having recruited three other equally passionate, talented musicians- bassist, Luke, guitarist Johny Darko and drummer, Jack-Ben finally had all the tools he needed to live the dream, little did he know what was to follow would be so incredible. After naming themselves and discovering just how much chemistry there was between the four when they played together, The Local Legends felt ready for their first ever live performance. Taking the bull by the horns and starting off in true legendary style, the first time the boys had played live together, The Local Legends played their first ever concert for a little over eleven thousand spectators, all hungry for a great time. Needless to say, the band delivered, unveiling their sweet riffs and sweeter vocals The Local Legends gave a performance to remember.

The Local Legends is an exhilarating blend of traditional rock and roll and blues with a smidge of rockabilly. With vocals reminiscent of those of Eric Clapton, huge riffs and intricate solos and an old school rock and roll vibe ‘Queens Will’ can be only described as nothing else but a traditional rock record. The raw energy of the album is second to none and tracks like ‘Story Teller’ and ‘How Could I’ have such delicious guitar solos, they contrast well with the more mellow tracks like ‘Almost Outside’ and ‘What’. ‘Queens Will’ is set to pave the way for The Local Legends to capture the ears and hearts of rock and blues scenes.

Cockney John - How Many Times

During the mid-1970s you could find yourself packed shoulder to shoulder with like-minded music-loving strangers in sweaty London clubs watching and listening to Punk and new wave music.

In 2013, we have Cockney John who is an enigma, a throwback from the life and music of that period but 100% fun.

This album is a musical cocktail of anything that was 70's punk and new wave with a twist of today. That genre of music mixed with the original tunes from songsmith Vic Malcolm means that once you hear them you will not get them out of your head.

Cockney John is already a success, so much so that he needs his minder Geordie Jack at his side 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

Their first single "How Many Times" is available now and can be heard on the radio around the world.

"Music in 2013 will never be the same..."

"Every party should have a copy of this CD..."

Cockney John's album "How many times" is available on CD from Tabitha Records and on download from iTunes and Amazon.

Muse's Matt Bellamy: 'My family's bankruptcy taught me not to crave material wealth and success'

Rocker Matt Bellamy has revealed that he values family over material success after seeing his father declare bankruptcy as a youngster.

During a personal interview with Britain's The Sun newspaper, the Muse frontman explained that he saw first hand how money can build you up and tear you down equally as quickly so has never really been interested in it:

"Money and success haven't really changed my beliefs or opinions over the years. When I was growing up my mum and dad split when I was 13 or 14 during the early-Nineties recession. At that time my dad went bankrupt and it played a huge part in it all at home."

"I experienced the sharp end of a tough time, living with a single parent, my mum, and she was really struggling to get a job. These are the things that form your views in life. They are established when you are growing up and being raised. That stuff doesn't really go away, that stays with you."

The 'Knights of Cydonia' star added that going through tough times motivated him to succeed in his own life as he wouldn't want to repeat his childhood from that perspective:

"In a way, that is what drove me to want to be successful. I never want to have to be in that situation again - ever. I have been lucky to experience a lot of the spoils that can happen in a rock band. But being with the three guys in this band from such a young age, we aren’t going to let any of the spoils change us."

Chris Rock has suggested that he could feature on the next Eminem album.

The US comedian turned heads recently after posting online a photo himself in the studio with the rapper.

Speaking to Fuse TV, Rock remained tight-lipped on the subject, but hinted at an album appearance. He said:

"Uh, I can't really say."

The comedian continued: "Hey, hey, I was on the Kanye [West] record - maybe I'm on the Eminem record. You never know."

Rock appeared on Kanye West's 2010 track 'Blame Game', which featured on the album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'.

Eminem's last studio album meanwhile came in the shape of the successful 2010 effort 'Recovery'.

Schemata Theory: Explosive UK metal newcomers ready debut album release

"A beautiful blend of progressive textures and soaring vocal arrangements.'"– TheNewReview

"Purely sensational music and experimentation." - Throwing Shapes Media & Reviews

“Dry Lung Rhetoric is a calling card from a band destined for great things, combining melody, aggression, attitude and ambition to an exhilarating effect.” – OneMetal.com

Bursting onto the UK metal/prog-metal scene all guns blazing, energetic new Reading-based six-piece Schemata Theory prepare to unleash their explosive debut album ‘Dry Lung Rhetoric’ on June 3.

The album, which was recorded at the renowned Stakeout Studios and produced by Jason Wilcock (Fightstar, We Are The Ocean, The Ghost of A Thousand), features 11 tracks and includes a guest appearance from Mutiny Within’s Chris Clancy on concluding final track, ‘The Final Breath’.

Combining many aspects of the metal genre, Dry Lung Rhetoric fuses classic thrash riffing, progressive technical instrumental passages, melodic hooks and soaring choruses, creating a set of songs that are accessible, original and thought provoking.

From the groove-metal orientated ‘Perish or Prevail’ to the piano driven ballad ‘Your Belief’, through to the more commercially melodic ‘Drones’ and catchy lead single ‘A Complex Slate’, the album is an experimental mix of eclectic metal infusions with the influence of bands such as Dream Theater and Metallica being prominent in the complex song structures, technical riffs and prominent guitar solos.

The message behind the album is an interesting one. “The album’s themes communicate acknowledgement of a sleeping world needing to wake up,” explains psychology graduate and vocalist Myles Dyer. “With so much evidently in crisis on this planet, the question that must be asked is ‘How much longer can we go on turning a blind eye?’”

The band has released an impressive and eye-catching video for lead single ‘A Complex Slate’, which has already gained in excess of 45,000 views.

View the video here: http://youtu.be/0gLG_KCY_D0

The single is available to download now on iTunes.
