The pair dated Jonas Brothers Joe and Nick respectively before splitting - and that experience seems to have brought the couple closer.

Speaking to Canada's CityTV, Swift said that they spent time together with junk food following their doses of heartbreak. She said:

"One of our early on friendship bonding moments was a couple years ago when both of us were really going through heartbreak situations. I just called her and I was like, 'I'll be over there in 10 minutes with a bunch of junk food'. Ever since then, we're just been kinda like sisters, it's more of like a sister bond."

THe 'Red' star continued: "We've known each other since the time that we were both like here [pointing down] and then things kind of sped up with our careers and things went up at the same time and our friendship stayed intact."

In court papers obtained by the celebrity gossip website TMZ, the man makes over-the-top and obviously untrue allegations about Bieber and his mentor Usher and even claims to be the father of Bieber's girlfriend, Selena Gomez:

"Bieber has cost me $426.78 and never paid me back. This money was used as abortion money because Justin Bieber got my daughter Selena pregnant in my bedroom, on my canadian bear rug."

"Usher Raymond came to my house on the forth of july 2012 and s*domized me with a firework and lit it inside my an*l area while blaring kate perry [sic] firework song in my ear drums."

The lawsuit continues: "[Bieber] gave selena a std and Bieber stole my credit card to buy him and sean p-ditty cmobs cocaine to use in drug free school zones. Bieber also got a penis enlargement with my stolen american express card."

Perhaps even more shocking is the end of the document, which reads: "I'm an emotional mess ... America must boycott biebers music."

Meanwhile, the 'Boyfriend' superstar doesn't appear to be phased by the odd news as he took to his official Twitter page earlier this afternoon (October 23) and promised his followers a night to remember: "I got a VERY SPECIAL surprise for the CHICAGO show today. this is gonna be a night no one is going to forget. #BELIEVEtour"

During an interview with Ryan Seacrest for his KIIS FM radio show, the 'As Long As You Love Me' superstar explained that it's strange and he doesn't like it, but at the same time doesn't want his mother to be unhappy and alone:

"I'm 18 now. She told me she would wait until I was 18 to do the dating thing again. I mean, I'm still not cool with it, but I guess I'm going to have to be. My mom's still got to have a life."

Seacrest then teased him by asking if his matchmaking had worked as a few weeks prior he had suggested that Mallette get together with 'The Bachelor' host Chris Harrison and the pair were subsequently seen at one of Bieber's concerts together, but Bieber quickly shot back: "They both came to my show, but I'm pretty sure they came separate."

She revealed her heartache at leaving her time on the show in the past, but will return for this last instalment, which is due to begin production next month.

Her on-screen mother, Maria Canals-Barrera, told E! News that Gomez will be great despite having been away from the show for a while because she's a dedicated actress who always loved her role:

"I think she'll be great because she's great at seeing the whole picture. She's not just focused on her part. She's the kind of actor that can see the whole story.”

“I think she'll take it seriously like she does. I think it's going to be great, I really do. I'm very excited about it. She's so sweet and talented and easy to work with."

Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel recently, the 'Love You Like A Love Song' beauty explained that she still enjoys living at home with her family so she won't be moving in with the 'Boyfriend' heartthrob for a while:

"I love my family. I don’t know, I’m not ready yet. I turned 20 but I love being at home, I feel safe and it’s nice.”

She also joked that Bieber refuses to disguise himself in public because he "likes to look cool" and when asked by Kimmel if he ever tries to run from the paparazzi or even trick them, she revealed that with him there's simply "no defeating the swag".

Gomez added that despite both her and Bieber's collective celebrity, they are a low-key couple: "We like to do our own thing. Just have fun.”

Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she was promoting her new book 'Nowhere But Up', Mallette explained that she thinks they're incredibly compatible and she approves of them as a couple:

"Seriously…how can you not like her? She’s so sweet. She’s good for him and they’re great together.”

Bieber has also been busy on the interview circuit and stopped by America's Today Show this morning (September 18) where he serenaded his mother. He uploaded the touching clip to Twitter and accompanied it with the caption:

"i sang to my mom on the the @todayshow this morning. her book is out too now. love you @pattiemallette ! proud of u!"

The 'As Long As You Love Me' heartthrob has also now passed the 28 million followers mark on social networking site Twitter, putting him just behind modern pop icon Lady Gaga.

The celebrity pair have been dating officially since 2011 and they look set to build on that in the future.

Speaking to Top of the Pops magazine, Bieber said that Gomez's strong points are her listening skills and her desire to be affectionate.

The 'Boyfriend' star added that she also has a good sense of humour and one of the "best smiles in the world". He said:

"I'm attracted to someone who's a good listener, who is there for me and who pays attention to what I am saying. Also, I'm very affectionate so need someone affectionate like me."

Bieber continued: "She's hot. Of course, every guy likes their girl to be hot, which Selena is. But I like to mess around and pull jokes, so I like to be around people who make me laugh and share my sense of humour.  That's Selena for sure. She is a really great person and I think she has one of the best smiles in the world."

The pair have been dating for some time now and has Bieber opened up about the learning curve that comes with dating someone as a pop star in the public eye in the autobiographical offering:

"It doesn't make you weak or any less of a man if you treat a woman with respect and spoil her a little bit. Remember guys, if your friends give you a hard time about being romantic it's just because they don't know how to treat their lady right."

In the same excerpt, Bieber also talks about how irresponsible the press can be and referred specifically to the paternity suit he found himself facing last year when Mariah Yeater claimed he was the father of her son:

"Whatever happened to responsible journalism? Aren’t reporters supposed to check their facts before writing their stories?"

"One of the worst downsides of fame is the freedom and liberties the media take when it comes to reporting on a celebrity’s personal life. At the same time, without the media, you can’t do your job so I guess it’s a give and take."

Speaking to Teen Vogue about juggling an overwhelming workload with a boyfriend who is equally as busy, the 'Who Says' songstress explained that she's not rushing anything and feels that their next step as a couple will "come organically":

"It's really fun. I'm lucky. I'm 20. I don't take anything in my personal life too seriously. I have great friends and a solid group of people I love. I feel like everything else will come organically. Marriage and all that other stuff I think will happen once I feel accomplished in every other aspect of my life."

When asked about her acting career and her aspirations for that, Gomez admitted that working with Justin Timberlake is something she would love to do:

"Who I would die to work with, but I don't think he ever would-I don't even think he's doing music anymore-is Justin Timberlake. Just 'cause I love his music sooo much."
