Olly Murs on "insane" US One Direction fans

Olly Murs has opened up on life as a support act for One Direction in North America.

The Xtra Factor host was picked to warm up for the British boyband across the pond on a number of their tour dates earlier this year.

Murs revealed that One Direction fans are a little more frenzied than his own, with the 'Oh My Goodness' star admitting he was taken aback by how much their fans fancied the band. He said:

"They were a little bit younger than I'm used to. My fans aren't as obsessed as theirs, mine are quite chilled. The infatuation and just how much they fancy One Direction was crazy. I caught fans going through bins trying to find stuff the boys had chucked out. It was insane but the fans were brilliant to me. They knew my songs and sang along. It was good to go over there and showcase my music. It was really positive."

Murs meanwhile also told the Metro about a famous face that unexpectedly turned up to one of his shows in the UK. He said:

"I did a gig in Glasgow and my tour manager said: 'Susan Boyle's at the box office'. We didn't have any free tickets left for the show and apologised. She said: 'That's fine, I've come to buy tickets'. She bought four and sat in the audience with her friends and watched the show. She came backstage afterwards. Subo's a fan. We got a picture together and she was very complimentary."

Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, Max George explained that having "mums" on their side is fantastic and they love their older fans:

"A lot of mums like us, Tesco charts – we smash it. We're like the boyband version of SuBo."

Siva Kaneswaren also added that while One Direction may have more teenage girls following them around and screaming at their concerts, they definitely get more male attention:

"There's not much competition with One Direction when it comes to screaming girls. We have a lot more 19-year-old screaming men."

Susan Boyle's neighbours have filed a complaint with their local council because the star has reportedly been singing too loudly.

The Sun reports that Teresa Miller and fiancé Paul Keaveney have told council officials that they are being kept awake by Boyle singing in the living room of her house in Blackburn, West Lothian.

Miller said that the noise is "unbearable" as Boyle allegedly tears through classic hits. She said:

"It is so loud you can't hear the telly. It's unbearable. It'll be on first thing in the morning or late at night and it's absolutely blaring."

She continued: "She'll put one song on repeat and it goes on for hours. I don't know if she's got a karaoke machine or what but it's so loud. You wouldn't get Bono from U2 standing in his house singing his songs at the top of his voice. Maybe she's practising for her next track or the next time she's going to see Simon Cowell but it's unbelievable."

Amy Macdonald reveals she penned track for Susan Boyle

Amy Macdonald has revealed that she wrote a song for Susan Boyle despite previously criticising the Britain’s Got Talent star for relying on cover versions.

The Scottish singer-songwriter, who yesterday premiered her comeback single, ‘Slow It Down,’ caused outrage amongst Boyle’s loyal fanbase in 2010 when she claimed she ‘wasn’t a good advert for British music.’

However, the 24-year-old told the Daily Record that she was happy to pen a track for the global sensation whilst taking time out from the recording of her third album, ‘Life In A Beautiful Light.'

She said: “When I was off, my publisher asked me if I would be interested in writing songs for other folk.

“So I wrote this song called Little Things, which is not on the album, for Susan Boyle, and it went right up there. Simon Cowell listened to it but obviously didn’t like it.”

The ‘This Is The Life’ vocalist also attempted to clear up her previous comments about Boyle, adding: “I thought Susan should have won Britain’s Got Talent.

"I just said, when she was nominated for a Brit Award, that I felt a lot of her songs were covers and thought it would be better if they were original.”

Speaking to Chrissy Iley in the Daily Mail, the Britain's Got Talent superstar gave a frank interview, discussing a number of topics and opening up about her life.

And Boyle moved to pour cold water over reports suggesting that she had never been kissed - and revealed that she had been in love when she was a 25-year-old. She said:

"I had a boyfriend. All that never being kissed stuff is a lie. He kissed me, for God's sake. My dad didn't like him. He said he wasn't right for me. In many ways it was a narrow escape.
