Take That deny Glastonbury rumours

Take That have denied reports that they are to play next year’s Glastonbury.

The band, who announced a 2011 stadium tour yesterday, have been linked to the event ever since their reunion with estranged former member, Robbie Williams.

“We have a big production, we have a big show,” said Mark Owen. “I don’t think we could put our stage in there. I don’t think it’s possible. If we’re having a good time we might get on the bus and go down. We can go and take our caravan and watch a few other bands.”

With dates scheduled for Manchester, Dublin and Cardiff amongst others, a gap has been left in the band’s ‘Progress’ tour which would enable them to play the festival.

The tour will be in support of new album, ‘Progress’, the first with the original line up in 16 years.

The first stop on the tour is Sunderland’s Stadium of Light on 30 May, 2011.

ITV to screen Take That documentary

ITV has announced that it will broadcast a fly-on-the-wall documentary on Take That, due to air in November.

The news comes a day after Take That won a Q Award and Robbie Williams re-joined the band.

The documentary, Take That: Look Back, Don't Stare, will be a retrospective on the pop group's last year and will focus on the events prior to the band reuniting with Williams.

ITV's controller of entertainment, John Kaye Cooper, says, "We're thrilled that our great relationship with Take That continues and they feel ITV will be able to give viewers and fans the first opportunity to see this amazingly frank and honest film about the last 12 months of Britain’s best loved band."

Producer Dan Bowen of Pulse added, "Directors Fred Scott and Nick Davies have created a beautifully crafted film on an iconic band, and brilliantly captured a rare insight into Take That’s rollercoaster ride over the last 12 months, that we hope fans will treasure."

The programme will coincide with the band's new single 'The Flood' out on November 14.

A DVD release, ‘Look Back, Don't Stare. A Film About Progress’, will follow on December 6.

Take That's ‘Progress’ cover

Take That have released the image that will be the cover for their upcoming album ‘Progress’, which will be out next month.

The album, which was recorded in New York with producer Stuart Price, is the first Take That record to feature Robbie Williams in 15 years and will include the group’s current single ‘The Flood’.

The newly unveiled artwork for ‘Progress’ shows the band in a sort of evolutionary line, beginning with a crouched Gary Barlow and ending with Jason Orange taking to the air. The shoot for the cover was done by US photographers Nadav Kander who had previously photographed Barack Obama.

The album and its ten new tracks will be seeing release on November 22.

Take That considered changing their name to 'The English'

Take That came close to renaming themselves ‘The English’ to correspond with their revamped sound, they have revealed.

The British quintet felt their more electro-influenced tunes written for comeback album ‘The Progress’, which is due out next month, were such a departure from their back catalogue they may have needed a new name.

They later decided against the idea.

“I’m guessing that the initial idea of not being called Take That freed Gary up,” the recently rejoined Robbie Williams told Q magazine.

Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow Get Cozy in 'Strictly Come Dancing' Performance

Recently reunited Take That stars Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow wooed viewers last Saturday (October 2) on 'Strictly Come Dancing' with a performance of their new single, “Shame”.

The stars gazed at each other from facing stools for the majority of the performance as they belted out lyrics documenting the pair’s long and rocky relationship, finishing with a few crowd-pleasing dance moves.

They famously fell out when Williams quit Take That, but the “Angels” star recently announced he is rejoining the group and performed with Barlow for the first time in 15 years last month. The press reported last week that when the band go on tour, they may all rent a house together instead rather than stay in a hotel.

The new single “Shame” has been taken from Williams’ upcoming greatest hits compilation, ‘In and Out of Consciousness’, which is released next week.

Check out the ‘bromantic’ performance below:

Take That win GQ Band Of The Year award

Take That - Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald - are the biggest band in Britain.

Since their 2006 comeback after a decade in the wilderness, they have sold close to five million albums.

'The Circus', released last December, topped the charts for five weeks. The Circus live show was the fastest-selling tour in UK history. The Wembley concerts alone are a staggering achievement. No other group - not U2, not Coldplay, not Oasis - attempted to sell more than three nights there this year. If nostalgia accounted for the immediate success of their return, then it's something else that is sustaining this second act in the life of the nation's favourite former boy band.

"Our story is too complicated to sum up in a few lines," says Gary. "If we'd tried to plan it like this it would never have happened."
