HEADLINING SUMMER TOUR DATES KICK OFF AUGUST 13th IN NEW YORK AT IRVING PLAZA

(June 12, 2013 – New York, NY)  Charlottesville, Virginia, five-piece band Parachute have completed their long-awaited third album, OVERNIGHT, scheduled to arrive August 13th on Mercury Records.   The lead single in advance of the album, “Can’t Help,” co-written by Ryan Tedder  (One Republic), was released last week & shot straight to the Top 30 on the iTunes Pop chart and hit #1 on the popular chart of Twitter Music!  Checkout Buzznet’s premier of “Can’t Help” HERE

OVERNIGHT’s release caps a two year span since The Way It Was, Parachute’s previous album of  May 2011, which rose to the #1 Rock Album and #2 Overall Album spots at iTunes.  The album’s success was buoyed by the iTunes #1 Rock Song “Kiss Me Slowly” (co-written with Grammy® winners Lady Antebellum) and the Top 15 AC hit “Something To Believe In” – which was played during the 2011 Rose Bowl football classic, went on to become an ESPN staple, and was performed by Parachute on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

In support of The Way It Was in 2011, Parachute – magnetic frontman Will Anderson (guitars, piano, lead vocals), Kit French (saxophone, key­boards, vocals), Alex Hargrave (bass), Johnny Stubblefield (drums), and Nate McFarland (lead guitar, vocals) – traveled non-stop across North America.  Over the past couple years, Parachute has played over 250 shows and have toured all around the country with bands ranging from NeedtoBreathe to Andy Grammer.  They will be heading back out on the road headlining clubs in support of OVERNIGHT this Summer (see full itinerary below).

Parachute’s debut album, Losing Sleep shot to #1 on the iTunes and Amazon digital albums charts and spawned the Top 15 Hot AC hit single “She Is Love” (whose video boasts over 6.4 million views).  A slow-burning acoustic performance of the song at the New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square kicked off a breakout year for Parachute, who appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and CBS’s The Early Show.  Losing Sleep was subsequently reissued on iTunes in a deluxe version adding the“She Is Love” video, rare B-sides, acoustic versions, and live tracks.   

The video for “She Is Love” spent three months on VH1’s Top 20 Countdown.  The second single, “Under Control” became one of the most popular iTunes Single Of The Week features to emerge from a #1 iTunes album.  Parachute’s songs have been featured on MTV’s The City and the CW’s One Tree Hill, Vampire Diaries and 90210.

The US state was recently flattened by the natural disaster, with 24 people losing their lives and 12,000 houses ruined.

The Voice US coach Blake Shelton, who was born in Oklahoma, has organised a fundraiser gig due to take place on Wednesday (May 29) at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.

Usher has now been confirmed to perform at the event, alongside Miranda Lambert, Darius Rucker, Reba McEntire, Luke Bryan, Vince Gill, Rascall Flatts and Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic.

Money made from the concert will go to United Way of Central Oklahoma's May Tornadoes Relief Fund.

The OneRepublic man helped pen two tracks for the singer's massively successful 2011 album '21' - 'Rumour Has It' and 'Turning Tables'.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Tedder said that no discussions have taken place ahead of any potential new album, suggesting that Adele deserves some time off. He said:

"At least as of last week, from the label, I've been told there is no actual talks happening right now - whatsoever."

He added: "I would just chill for a minute. She has a kid, she has been chilling and she should. At which point she wants to start working again I'm sure she'll kick it off with [producer - Paul] Epworth, I would assume, as I would."

When she does resume working, however, Tedder will be straight back in there with some song ideas. He said:

"I would of course, go in, in a heartbeat. I already have a couple of ideas. To me though it would come down to, 'Ok, last album was bitter and heartbroken'. That was the narrative. It's hard for me to even come up with ideas without knowing what the narrative would be now. Everything she does is so instantaneous, instant, real, authentic. The most I could possibly come up with would just be music. I'm not going to put words in her mouth for anything."

The OneRepublic mainman has been working on some music for her highly anticipated new record.

Whilst no release date has yet been issued for the album, the 'Single Ladies' singer is due to tour the world from April.

"What I've been a part of is my favourite thing that I'm working on at the moment and I'm finishing today actually. I'm praying to God that it's not too late as I've been so busy it's taken me two weeks to get this damn thing done. But it gives me goosebumps."

Tedder added: "I never know what's going to make a record, so I don't want to be the guy going, 'I've made the biggest hit on the album', and then it's not on there."

The boyband tend to eschew grand choreography in favour of more restrained dancing, and speaking to the Daily Star, Siva Kaneswaran said that he doesn't expect that to change.

He said: "There's not a chance in hell we will ever dance. We do moves we're comfortable with but we haven't got natural rhythm so work with what we've got."

Kaneswaran also spoke of the massive success the band are currently enjoying in the US, adding that the American public seem to be liking the group for their music, not just their boyband appeal. He said:

"People just hear the song on the radio and like it, so we're happy as we want to be known for our music rather than just being a boyband."

The group are currently making it big Stateside, with a number of sold-out shows and TV appearances under their belt.

And, speaking to MTV, George tried to explain the differences between crowds back home and over in the US - stating that the Americans "really get into it". He said:

"With the US crowd, they love music over there and they really get into it when we are performing and literally bounce off you. Here [in the UK], they are just crazy in the sense of they scream in your face and they wanna rip your clothes off which is brilliant."

George added that the band can't really get their heads around their US popularity, despite currently touring the UK in massive arenas. He said:

"Absolutely as it was our first time over there and obviously, you see on Twitter that people are saying come over [to America] but we didn't expect that. We would turn up at every gig that we did and it was absolutely rammed and they were singing every song - we cant really get our heads round it to be honest."
