Ke$ha clarifies 'Die Young' lyrics following school shooting

Ke$ha has issued an official statement regarding her song 'Die Young' in the aftermath of the tragic US school shooting.

As previously reported, her single was taken off the air by some US radio stations following the recent murder of 27 people - including 20 school children - at the hands of a gunman in Connecticut.

The singer later tweeted that she was "forced" into singing the lyrics but soon deleted the message from her page.

Ke$ha has now released a full statement on her website clarifying her lyrics, admitting she did have "concerns" about using the words. The 'Tik Tok' star said:

"After such a tragic event I was feeling a lot of emotion and sadness when I said I was forced to sing some of the lyrics to 'Die Young'. Forced is not the right word. I did have some concerns about the phrase 'die young' in the chorus when we were writing the lyrics especially because so many of my fans are young and that's one reason why I wrote so many versions of this song."

Ke$ha continued: "But the point of the song is the importance of living every day to the fullest and staying young at heart, and these are things I truly believe."

Ke$ha has commented on her track 'Die Young' in the aftermath of the recent school shooting tragedy in the US.

As previously reported, her single was removed from playlists on certain radio stations in America after the country was rocked by news of a gunman killing 20 children and six adults at a school in Connecticut.

20-year-old Adam Lanza gunned his victims at Newtown's Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14 before killing himself.

Taking to Twitter to comment on the ensuing controversy surrounding 'Die Young', Ke$ha said:

"I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected by this tragedy and I understand why my song is now inappropriate. Words cannot express."

It has been reported that the singer added another tweet implying that she was "forced" into singing the song's lyrics, before deleting the message. It is said she tweeted: "I understand. I had my very own issue with 'Die Young' for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO."

Taylor Swift thanks Lily Cooper for song praise

'Mine' songstress Taylor Swift was pleasantly surprised when she logged into her official Twitter page earlier today (December 18) as a fellow pop star had praised her latest single.

'I Knew You Were Trouble' has been a popular song for Swift and British superstar Lily Cooper (née Allen) revealed that she's also a fan after writing about her admiration for the track on the social networking site.

She explained: "This Taylor Swift Trouble jam is siiiiiiiccck."

After Swift noticed the message, she replied publicly and thanked her for the support: "Hiiii @lilyrosecooper--thanks! That just made my day:) Merry Christmas!"

Swift recently confessed that she penned the single about a real-life experience that caused her to lose sight of who she really was: "My favourite thing [about the video] is that this girl not only gets sucked into this relationship with him but she loses who she was before and that's the saddest part of losing him, is that she can't remember who she was before she met him."

Despite an overwhelmingly positive reaction from his fans and the press alike, Lambert took to his official Twitter page earlier this afternoon and shared his own opinion about his cover version of Madonna's 'Ray of Light'.

He wrote: "Had to watch the show from last night. So proud except literally just sat here a LAUGHED at my own lame ass on Ray Of Light. #wtfwasithinkin"

In addition to tackling the Queen of Pop's track, the 'Trespassing' hitmaker also performed a rendition of David Bowie's 'Let's Dance' along with a tribute to the late Donna Summer.

When asked by one of his 1.7 million followers how he was feeling after last night's show, he replied: "I'm tired. Lol but had so much fun. :) it was a wild ride."

The Spice Girls have dismissed speculation that they will reunite without Victoria Beckham and draft in Sugababes' Heidi Range instead.

The band last performed together at the London 2012 Olympic Games and a full reunion has long been mooted.

It has often been rumoured that Victoria Beckham has been reluctant to team up with her bandmates once again and reports emerged recently that she was set to be dumped from the group.

Range was said to be lined up to replace Posh Spice but Mel C took to Twitter to deny the reports. She said:

"It seems there has been some Spice related nonsense written today. None of the Spice Girls would ever or could ever be replaced #justsayin."

Emma Bunton added: "None of the Spice Girls would ever or could ever be replaced, nonsense in the papers!!!"

Rihanna's message to fans: "Don't let one thing shake your core"

Rihanna has written a heart-felt letter to her fans about her experience with Chris Brown.

The 24-year-old's note follows a series of tweets she posted that appeared to refer to her on-off boyfriend Brown who was arrested for violently assaulting her in 2009.

The singer was upset after seeing Brown pictured partying with scantily-clad girls on tour in Paris. He was then photographed having a meal with his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran in Dubai.

The letter which she photographed and uploaded on Twitter urged her fans to stand up for what they believe in.

The handwritten note said: ''There's no question that life throws us curve balls, we do our best to deal with them, take the lessons and keep it moving without regrets.

''I look forward to embarking on this ride with you, unwilling to sacrifice what we believe in, taking our lessons and growing from them.

"Don't let one thing shake your core. Let our inspirations drive us, never steering from who we truly are."

Over the weekend, a furious Rihanna took to Twitter to vent her feeling about Chris - who was arrested for violently assaulting her in 2009 - in an X-rated rant.

Before posting the letter she posted a series of cryptic tweets including: ''Examine what you tolerate'', ''Goodbye muthaf*****'', ''You give, you get, then you give it the f*** back'' and ''Claps for the basic b****** (sic)''

She also wrote: ''Never underestimate a man's ability to make you feel guilty for his mistakes.''

Justin Bieber to release acoustic album in January

Justin Bieber has confirmed plans to release an acoustic album early next year.

The Canadian had previously suggested that he would be stripping back some of his songs and making a new collection.

It would follow on from his 2010 release 'My Worlds Acoustic', which saw Bieber perform his early material unplugged.

Speaking on the Ellen DeGeneres show, the singer said that his fans like acoustic material because it is "more intimate". He said:

"It's something the fans really like. Because I started out on YouTube just playing my guitar, just singing without all the production, so I like to just put out acoustic albums. I think it's more intimate."

The 'Believe' star added that he is planning to release the record in January next year.

Bieber meanwhile also told Ellen that he was disappointed to miss out on a 2013 Grammy nomination, but the 18-year-old suggested that he has time on his side.

The country-pop singer is releasing the song 'I Knew You Were Trouble' as the next single from her hit album 'Red'.

It follows tracks such as 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' as she looks to cement her place as one of pop's leading icons.

The clip for the song was released on her birthday (December 13) as Swift celebrated turning 23 years old.

Taking to Twitter to plug the video, Swift said that she was "proud" of how the clip came out. She said:

"The video. Starring the unbelievable @ReeveCarney, directed by the amazing @AnthonyMandler. I'm so proud of this one."

Speaking previously about the video, Swift said: "As soon as I started writing this song, I knew it was different from anything else on the record, so I knew I wanted the video to be different from anything we'd done ever done. I wanted to tell the story of a girl who falls into a world that's too fast for her, and suffers the consequences."
