‘The Living Years’ was Mike + The Mechanics second album hit Number 1 in the US as well as reach Number 2 in UK charts. The album – which included the singles ‘Nobody’s Perfect’, ‘Seeing is Believing’ and the classic title track ‘The Living Years’ – has received Gold status in the UK as well as in Canada and the US. 

Formed in 1984 by Genesis founding member, guitarist, bass-player and songwriter Mike Rutherford, Mike + The Mechanics was a side project that would go on to sell over 10 million records worldwide. Originally featuring vocalists Paul Carrack and Paul Young (formerly of Sad Café), the group developed a rich catalogue of hit after hit including Silent Running, All I Need Is A Miracle, Over My Shoulderand the massive worldwide hit single The Living Years. 

In 2010, Rutherford joined forces with one of the UK’s most successful R&B acts Andrew Roachford and Canadian born actor and singer Tim Howar for a new generation of Mike + The Mechanics who have been touring together across the UK and Europe ever since. 

Since this new generation of the band has come to form, Mike Rutherford has shared writing duties with Andrew Roachford – known for storming the UK Charts in the 90s with the anthem ‘Cuddly Toy. Roachford became Columbia’s biggest selling UK act for ten years, with tunes like ‘Only To Be With You’ to ‘The Way That I Feel’ becoming international hits and giving Roachford the opportunity to tour the world and hone his talent – becoming the truly great entertainer that he is today. Throughout his career he has organically blended different sounds and genres from rock to soul music and has become a prolific songwriter. 

Joining Roachford and sharing the vocal duties is Tim Howar, a Canadian actor/singer who came to the UK 10 years ago to start a band in the country where his icons were born. He formed and toured with Vantramp supporting the likes of Rod Stewart, Paulo Nutini, Sugababes and Newton Faulkner. Vantramp’s debut album was released to critical acclaim. Currently starring in the hit West End musical Rock of Ages as Stacee Jaxx, Howar’s acting career has seen him perform on Broadway, as well as touring the US and Canada and saw Tim take the starring role as Rod Stewart in the show ‘Tonight’s The Night’.

The actor and rapper has two kids - 14-year-old Jaden and 12-year-old Willow - and both have made inroads into the entertainment business.

The Sun reports that Smith recently revealed in an interview that he sometimes gets worried that his kids might get too sucked into the showbiz lifestyle. He said:

"I think that the major risk of this particular business is strictly emotional. The business has almost a narcotic quality. It's almost as if you're introducing a narcotic into your kid's life."

The Men in Black actor has recently been doing the promotional rounds alongside Jaden as they publicise their new film After Earth.

They caught the attention on the BBC's Graham Norton show meanwhile recently by performing the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme tune alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff and the show's actor Alfonso Ribeiro.

The tour kicks off at Ireby Music Festival on Saturday 25th May followed by the first leg of the walk from Cumbria arriving at Heddon on the Wall, Northumberland on June 1st.  Steve will then take the tour to Derby and Southwell Folk Festival before returning north for a grand finale at the Folkalpoint festival at The Sage Gateshead on November 30th 2013.

The tour has been inspired by Steve’s long term musical buddy Tim, who developed the neurological condition ataxia which curtailed his ability to perform. Steve wrote and recorded the song Steady, which features Stephen Doherty’s hauntingly beautiful whistle-playing, to raise awareness of ataxia and to support the charity Ataxia UK’s 2020 campaign to find a cure.

Ataxia is a progressive neurological disorder for which there is no cure. It affects motor co-ordination, walking, vision and speech. There are 10,000 adults with the condition in the UK and it can affect any age group including children. Ataxia UK supports people affected by the condition as well as funding vital research into finding a cure. www.ataxia.org.uk/

Steve Bonham says “I want to do something about this ataxia thing and I want to make more people aware of it - so people don’t think those affected are drunk or stupid. I want people to see beyond the stumble and the uncertainty to the still strong person within. And I want to raise some dosh so that good research by clever people can go on.” 

Steve will be show casing Steady along with songs from his 2012 critically acclaimed album ‘The Moon’s High Tide’ and some new pieces. He will be joined by the “Bishop” (keyboards, tuba and percussion) and special guests to create some exhilarating performances of contemporary folk music.  Steve is a folk veteran and has collaborated with folk royalty such as ex-Saw Doctor Pearce Doherty, Jimmy Higgins (Irish band Altan) and Fairport Convention’s legendary Dave Pegg.

The flamboyant singer, who is now married to Carey Hart and is a new mother, told Glamour magazine that she calls herself a "reformed slut".

She added that she is annoyed how men can sleep around and largely get away with it, whilst women are criticised. The 'Truth About Love' star said:

"I'm a reformed slut. It's my very unsophisticated way of taking the power back. I've always had an issue with [the idea that] 'OK, we've both decided to do this. Why am I a slut and you're the player? You didn't get anything from me that I didn't get from you'."

Speaking about her marriage, P!nk added: "Long-term relationships are an everyday choice. It's harder to be in a marriage than it is to bounce from one relationship to the next."

The flamboyant singer gave birth to her first child Willow with husband Carey Hart last year and it seems she has caught the mothering bug.

The 'Blow Me (One Last Kiss)' star has revealed that she would be pregnant right now if it wasn't for her work schedule.

She recently released her new album 'The Truth About Love' and soon after announced a long tour of North America due to take place next year. Speaking about her wish for more family, P!nk said:

"I mean if I weren't going, getting ready to go on tour, I'd be pregnant. I'm barefoot and pregnant in my garden with an attitude."

The singer also took time to joke about breastfeeding, adding that she might still be doing it until Willow's teenage years. She said:

"I'm a hippie at heart. [How long will I do it?] Until prom! I'm going to carry her to prom in a Baby Bjorn. 'Willow, your feet are dragging'."

The pop-rocker gave birth to daughter Willow last year and told Britain's The New Review that she hopes she won't follow the same self-destructive path she went down as a youngster, but can only provide her with solid guidance as a parent.

When asked if she would tolerate Willow experimenting with drugs, P!nk said: "No. But you know what I'm not gonna do? I'm not gonna teach my child to be a liar by telling her no, she can't do or be who she wants to be."

"I'm gonna try figure out a way with (husband) Carey (Hart) to safely allow her to navigate the world. No, she (is) never gonna f**king touch heroin. I'm gonna make sure of it. And if she wants to f**king hate me for it, that's fine."

"She won't have my teenage life because I've already been there. I'm prepared to be a lot stronger than my mom was. That's all. I'm never gonna know everything, but I know a lot."

In a special video message, the superstar explained that she is gearing up to unveil a brand new single called 'Blow Me (One Last Kiss)' and she can't wait to share it with everyone:

"My new single, my new song off my new record - off my new life - is called 'Blow Me (One Last Kiss)' and it's very funny. I wrote it with Greg Kursten who is amazing and we had an incredible time."

"Willow played bells and bass on a couple of other songs, but I think you're really going to like it because I really like it, and I like it enough for all of us."

The track has been given a release date of July 9 and a full-length album will follow later this year.

She also took to social networking site Twitter earlier this week and uploaded a photo taken from her new album's official shoot, which shows her sat holding her daughter in her arms in a room full of shoes and rails of clothing.

The songstress took to social networking site Twitter earlier today (June 1) and explained to her 8.7 million followers that she either has stomach flu or "ulcers again" so has been admitted to hospital for monitoring.

She also shared a picture that was taken from her hospital bed, which she accompanied with the caption:

"Maybe it's cause my mom was an ER nurse all my life- but throw me in a gown and a hook me up to an IV- and I'm a happy girl. Stomach flu sucks but morphine doesn't.”

"Thanks for all the get well wishes. And no-they don't give morphine for flu. I might have ulcers again. Because I care too much. It's a gift."

The 'Who Knew' hitmaker gave birth to her first child, daughter Willow Sage Hart, last summer and has now started working on new music, but revealed to Cosmopolitan magazine that she no longer smokes or drinks while she's in the studio because she is currently breastfeeding:

"I'm used to going into the studio and smoking and drinking until three in the morning. But I can't drink as much because I'm breastfeeding."

"See this glass of wine? Before, I'd have, like, four of them. Now, one is good. Oh, and I quit smoking… I've exorcised a lot of my demons, but I'm still working on myself. I think I'll be a work in progress for the rest of my life."

She also tweeted a message to her fans on Mother's Day (Sunday, May 13), which was her first as a parent, and revealed that she was overwhelmed at the thought of her life's blessings:

"It's my first mothers day- and I'm just filled to the brim with gratitude. My mama bear love goes out in the form of a mama bear hug to all."

The 'Who Knew' hitmaker explained to her followers on social networking site Twitter that she has been learning to make scarves and has been trying to take six week old Willow Sage to her fitness classes:

"My friend @KerriKenney taught me how to knit this past week. this scarf i'm working on is so good i may just slap her with it. on her face."

"just tried 2do yoga class w/ a 6 wk old. even dressed her in buddha onesie thinking it'd keep her calm. wrong. so wrong. no dwnwrd dog 4 me:)"

Speaking to People magazine, the 'Who Knew' singer explained that she wanted to bestow an essence of strength upon her new baby so she felt the name was fitting:

"The willow is my favourite tree. I grew up near one. It's the most flexible tree in nature and nothing can break it - no wind, no elements."

"It can bend and withstand anything. I love that sentiment. I want that for her. Sage is cleansing and sacred."

Tweeting to her 4 million fans on June 14, the 'Get This Party Started' star wrote about the changes her life has seen since welcoming her daughter:

"my life was once whiskey, tears, and cigarettes... now it's snot, tears, and the color of poop. #bliss. i do miss the whiskey though :)"
