Vienna's Chili and The Whalekillers to play The Great Escape in Brighton + UK tour + BBC radio sessions
From the ever-avant-garde city of Vienna emerges Chili and the Whalekillers, an Icelandic-Austrian five-piece band loaded with an array of artfully crafted songs with considerable danceability. Their third album “Turn” was released in the UK on May 11th 2015 in conjunction with a UK regional tour that includes a performance at The Great Escape. The album has already been received with acclaim from critics and audiences alike in their home county, its eponymous single reaching no.3 in the Icelandic radio charts in early 2014.
Musically, Chili and the Whalekillers can only be described as diverse: from Indie Pop, Folk, Pop Rock, Surf and even Dream Pop all coloured by retro sounding 60’s psychedelia. Their genre crossing is as effortless as the changing of their multi instruments on stage, yet there is a constant feeling of coherence, a shared spirit and substance.
Chilli and The Whalekillers have melted the Icelandic hearts and they are hoping they can warm the UK’s too. This is already looking likely with upcoming sessions / interviews with BBC Radio Oxford and BBC Radio Merseyside whilst on their UK tour.
