30 Seconds To Mars to set Guinness World Record

'The Kill' rockers 30 Seconds To Mars are due to make music history later this year for playing the most gigs during a single album cycle.

The band, fronted by Hollywood superstar Jared Leto, have been touring their latest record 'This Is War' since December 2009 and they will perform their 300th show on December 7 at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Following this milestone show, they are set to play a further week of gigs in celebration of the achievement.

Leto spoke about the impressive feat and explained how the band decided to involve the Guinness Book of World Records to document their amazing journey:

"We have been on the road for an incredible and insane two years and thought what better way to celebrate the end of this phenomenal journey than with a week of special shows in New York City."

"We thought documenting this for posterity with the Guinness Book of World Records would be fun, especially as we aren't any good at growing our fingernails very long or cultivating the world's largest squash."
