Rap sensation 50 Cent has been taken to hospital following a car crash in New York.

Although the 'In Da Club' hitmaker's representatives are yet to confirm the reports, U.S. hip-hop website XXL revealed that he was involved in a serious accident last night (June 25) on the Long Island Expressway in New York City just after 3am local time.

XXL added that his sports utility vehicle collided with a large 'Mack' lorry while travelling along the road although he is thought to be recovering well.

ThisIs50.com has since posted several photographs of the star, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, on a stretcher wearing a neck brace and of both his smashed-up SUV along with the truck that hit his car.

50 Cent also uploaded a brand new music video for his song 'Complicated' to YouTube yesterday.
