5SOS give advice to aspiring musicians: 'Try to be different and separate yourself'

Australian heartthrobs 5 Seconds To Summer have enjoyed an incredible rise to fame over the past year and they have now given some words of wisdom to fans hoping to follow in their footsteps.

During an interview with Digital Spy, the 'She Looks So Perfect' hitmakers explained that the best advice they can give is to work hard and put all your passion into what you're doing because ultimately, it shows. Luke Hemmings said:

"Our advice would be: rehearse as much as you can, try and be good live, with songwriting, try and be yourself, be the band you want to be and not what everyone else is doing at the moment."

Member Calum Hood added that finding your unique selling point is also really useful when trying to get noticed: "Try and be different from every other band out there and separate yourself... and play guitar really well!"

Earlier this week, British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran spoke out about the group and told Capital FM that they're great because they don't fall into the typical boyband stereotype: "I think they're really good. I think they've got great voices, I think the songs are good, I think their overall appeal is good. They're actually a guitar-playing band who appeal to the boyband generation, but aren't a boyband. They're like Blink-182 or Green Day or Sum 41."
