5 Seconds of Summer have opened up on what they ask for backstage at gigs.

Whilst some artists may submit outlandish requests, it seems the Australians like to keep it simple.

However, they joked that they once asked for a dog - but their wish was never granted.

Calum Hood told the Mirror: "[Our requests are] Red Bull, water and chocolate milk – we asked for a fresh puppy on the rider, but we never got it."

Luke Hemmings added: "You should never drink before you go on stage. That’s a very bad idea if you want to give your all to your fans. Maybe when we’re 50, on the reunion tour."

5 Seconds of Summer have spent the last couple of months supporting One Direction on their Where We Are European stadium tour.

The two bands will do it all over again from August in North America.
