5 Seconds of Summer say it is 'disrespectful' to trash hotel rooms

5 Seconds of Summer have distanced themselves from acts of rowdy rock and roll behaviour.

Bands have historically stuck up the middle finger to authority by chucking TVs out of hotel windows and causing carnage in rooms, but it seems the Australians aren't keen on any of that.

Guitarist Michael Clifford told the Mirror that they would rather stay in and watch cartoons than throw TVs out of the window.

He said: "What’s the point of throwing a TV out the window if SpongeBob Squarepants could be on and we could be watching it? Or Geordie Shore? What a waste.

“I think it’s disrespectful to trash hotel rooms. The most rock and roll thing about us is how we sound."

Speaking meanwhile about gifts they have received from their fans, drummer Ashton Irwin said:

"Our fans give us koala bear toys to remind us of home – and Vegemite too. They know what we need."
