5 Seconds of Summer laud fans: 'We'd still be practising in Ashton's garage if it wasn't for you'

5 Seconds of Summer have reached out to their fans after one of the "biggest weeks" of their lives.

The band recently unleashed their self-titled debut album in North America and they also appeared on US TV's Jimmy Kimmel live.

Taking to Twitter at the weekend, the group said that if it wasn't for their fanbase then they would still be in Australia trying to make it big.

They said: "For us this has been one of the biggest weeks of our lives. Thankyou to anyone who has the album. I really do hope you love it. You guys mean so much to us. We'd still be practicing in Ashton's garage if it wasn't for you. Thankyou thankyou thankyou!! (sic)"

5 Seconds of Summer meanwhile are set to join up with One Direction again on their Where We Are tour in North America from August 1.
