5 Seconds of Summer have revealed that a lot of people get confused by their name.

The band are one of the hottest properties in mainstream music at the moment, but it seems some people haven't quite grasped their name yet.

The Australians told Radio Disney that some onlookers get confused as to why there aren't five members of the band.

Ashton Irwin said: "People ask, 'Why is it called 5 Seconds of Summer when there's four of you?'."

Luke Hemmings added: "I'd change [the name] to '4 Seconds of Summer' just so people stop asking what it means."

Irwin then quipped: "I'd want a name that is so self-explanatory that no one can ask us any questions about it – 'Generic Band Number One'."
